Pickups sound like that because they come from factory very high. And they are plated Alnico 5 pickups. Lower them around 3.5 mm or more lower from the 6th E. I did it and harshness and disturbing bassy sound on neck went away. They are in fact quite nice sounding pickups.
I just received this guitar from Thomann here in Florida. The guitar is better than I hoped it would be. The neck is birds-eye maple. I really does have a decent amount of figuring on it. The fretboard is a dark chocolate color with black streaks. It's nice and dark which is what I wanted. I don't see any obvious flaws and there's no fret sprout. I was charged $329.55 for the guitar + gig bag + shipping and I had to pay another $26.12 for shipping at the US post office. My total for the guitar, gig bag and all shipping is $355.67. That's a great deal considering the quality of the guitar. Nice wood and good hardware. It's a much better deal than an Epiphone with free shipping.
This model is my favorite from Harley Benton. Stainless steel frets, ebony fretboard, Wilkinson trem, glossy solid top color, natural binding and decent electronics for $284 not including shipping. It's a great deal.
Bought one 2 weeks ago in trans purple. Such a beast guitar for the money. Specs you cant find on guitars under 1500 euro. Love it to death and wouldnt change a thing. The trem kicks ass and the comfort of playing is beyond perfect.
Nowadays these specs could be found at 800 range, with 600 if going discount.
Why are the solid color Fusion II the only ones with 22 frets???
Don't get it, why all the others must have 24 frets.
22 frets and floyd, with a nice maple top would have been great.
Maybe that's what we will get for Fusion III lineup? 22 frets + FR and 24 frets + hardtail?
22 frets floyd hss . Or hss or hh fixed bridge either 22 and/or 24 frets would be a good addition to the line

Hi Cory, love the videos. Would you know does thomann have any plans of making Harley Benton CST22T? I would love one with gold top. I have CST24HB and I love it. They are very good guitars. For a while now I am looking at PRS DGT gold top. But if there would ever be a Harley Benton similar to that I would be firs one to order it. Thanks

Thanks for doing this review. Love the Bugera amp as well. I've always wondered how the Harley Benton SC-500 BK compares to the Epiphone Les Paul Custom. The both look very much alike. Might you consider this for a future review?
8:25 Yup, because the trem is floating. The springs are literally dampening the vibrations.
Decking the trem solves all issues.
Optimal sustain, optimal tuning stability, bending a string doesn't detune other strings, breaking a string doesn't detune other strings (not that this should ever happen, knock on wood), etc.

Cory I have a SC Custom in vintage black that I love with the Roswell pickups. What other HB do you recommend for more blues playing? Also I’m a lefty so not the full range is available. What do you think of the jag? Or a tele shape? P90s? I dunno budget £200-£250?
somone did mesuring and said the medium jumbo is closer to extra jumbo fret height wich is a big pluspoint from me id say amazing guitar
I just ordered a few harley bentons. I live in Hawaii. Just wondering how long it takes you to recieve you harley bentons?
Harley Benton should really make theese kind of premium versions of their other instruments e.g. ST, TE and CST models. Simply add a few spec'd up models with new colors to refresh the range. I'd love a candy apple red tele with ebony fingerboard, stainless frets and vintage hardware like on TE-52. Especially the CST range would benefit from that since guitars that they're trying to imitate have always fallen into premium category.
Also the weird thing with HB is the finish situation on guitars: e.g. for some reason their most popular model (the TE-52) is available only in one finish. Same thing with the beautiful 'tortoise flame' finish on CST-24: it's only available on the hollow body version w/o the trem.
I think HB has really stepped up their game with the Fusion line and now they should focus on polishing up the older instruments and making them on par with the new ones.

Well done on making it all the way through the review without mentioning the Suhr Pete Thorn model it’s based on! To be fair it does look great at that price point :-)
The only similarities are lack of pickguard and 2 point trem :D

I have a question, I was going to buy the Harley Benton Fanfret 7-TPB 2018 DLX but they took it out of the site, does anyone know if there is going to be a 2019 version or is it just going to dissapear?
Both Fanfret 7 2018 DLX seems to be sold out. As it sold very good, there will be a 2019 model for sure. Looking forward for it. The 2018 model was well, except the pickups.
Hi Cory, thanks for the review. I have few questions, is it much heavier then an average Stratocaster? How much it weights for example in comparison with HB SC custom?
3.4kg is the weight. That's standard weight. The sc customs can differ a lot but are usually heavier. Strats should be around the same weight most of the time

Hey, Cory. This HB is tempting... Are the frets level? Any sharp ends? Also, i'm not really big on this pickups....any chance you might replace them? I'd love to hear some really good ones in here. I kinda got burned by a few HB guitars...so, I've stayed away for awhile. This is kinda tempting... Thanks, man.

Yeah, they just can't make every model lefthanded. Normally the most selling models become lefties, so there is a chance still..
Hopefully my friend, but I have to admit Thomann are great left-handed guitars they seem to look after us lefties a lot more than anyone else in the business & for that I give my total respect
I wish they'd fusion up the single cut models. I want the quality for the price, but these S shape trem guitars totally not my thing :(

Seems like they’re working on in, check out agufish on youtube. There’s a bunch of prototype singlecuts with ash tops and fishman fluence pickups

It is available in roasted maple but doesnt come in back, gloss flamed natural and sparkle silver. Kris Barosci has a video out on his silver one. The neck looks similar to birdseye maple. Black with roasted maple would be stellar!

do they still put extremly thick lacquer on them? all the HBs i've played felt too much like plastic imo. i bet it's because of the lacquer. i once sanded down a SC450 GT neck .... there was much more lacquer then on any other guitar i have sanded down before. maybe they do it different in indonesia?
It's not thicker then on the epiphones, squier, ibanez and G&Ls I reviewed. Not super thick.

Can you still split the pickups with the switch? Not sure how hard it would be to replace two humbuckers

The pictures don't quite do it justice though. I should make a video. Although it's a veneer, it has a little bit a nice depth to it.
@@rickhammel9541 Nah, no videos. It's a fantastic guitar though. I'm surprised by how nice the neck is and how resonant the body is. Neither of those two things would come across in a video anyway.

The 3rd Chemical Brother I don’t think they’ll lose any sales. Suhr Guitars are marketed for a certain type of player (professionals musicians or wealthy ones) and I don’t think either of those groups would consider a Harley Benton. I’m part of the poor musician group so I’m totally interested in HB guitars.
By the way, was that "Eye of the tiger" during one of sound samples? :D

I couldn't help but laugh that Thomann has HB's up to 400 euros now. They're creeping slowly in to the mid-range now.
Raising the bar on quality has a cost. For that reason, prices must go up, nevertheless, they are still inexpensive. Unfortunately, it is next to impossible to have them in Australia.
actually, the newest fusions (roasted maple with floyd) is actually 450. but given the specs ... ye, it´s probably without competition in the sub 1000€ range
yeah but at those prices, we need 100% reliable QC ... out of the box, no messing around ... I can get excellent 500 euro guitars from Ibanez, Gretsch no fuss ... time to step up HB
Cory, have you heard any thing lately Bout the harley Benton sc-1000? I love in NY USA,I'm worried the guitar might come broken?? I see I can add another guitar,amp or cab an it won't cost me another 34-35.00 to ship. So what u think any bad or good news as of late about the model I want. I wanna buy it nxt Friday ,I've got the guitAr ,strings in my cart just waiting lol. I might add case, an HB 12 inch cab. MY thinking is maybe the packaging would be better to the states? I've seen broken guitars like the 8 string for 60-70 bucks just to add another guitar.
Rethink the amp. You won't be able to plug it in . U.S. has different electric outlets. Not sure if adapter will work. H.B. guitars are nice. I got one at Christmas time. No problems with shipping. Mine even came in damaged outer box, but was double boxed. All was good. Gonna order another guitar soon. I live in Illinois, U.S.A..
I saw video. Someone ordered a case & guitar. Guitar did not ship inside case. Haha they shipped guitar in box & case in box, then put the 2 boxes in larger box for shipping.

I noticed thoman does not have any fanned fret 7 string guitars available at all. Do you know if they will restock?
They do have some of the 'deko' 7 string fanfrets left, I bought one last week, it's damaged goods for sure but it plays okay for the price I paid, I have a demo video of it on my channel if you're interested
I don't use tremolo so I'd rather have a fixed bridge for more sustain.

Sounds off don't know if it's the guitar pups or the cheaper bugera head or mixing just not pleasant to the ear sounds harsh and brittle

Just as a side note, there are different grades of stainless steel, Harley Benton ones will wear eventually
All stainless steel frets will eventually, but even the softest stainless will last much longer than your standard nickel-silver.
is it my ear or the guitar has some intonation issues?
I've been interested in the pro line that one looks nice but I'm saving for one with a floyd :)

Nice guitar but its a shame when the back is cut up so much and covered by those cheap plastic covers 😖. Very nice finish though and would be gr8 to have it with p90's.
