@ironlantern45 We currently do not have an auto repair video on that particular repair. However you would need to remove the door panel. Take off any screws that are holding it on, and then use a door panel removal tool or a putty knife to remove the panel from the door. If it's the outside handle on most vehicles they are usually held on with a couple of bolts or rivites, the rods connected to the door handle may have small plastic clips that connect them together.
I was sure glad i found this video for taking the door panel off of an 08 avalanche. There are usually 2 ways to do things, the right way and the way i normally do it. I did manage to break one of the door lock clips off. That'll probably set me back $100 the way dealer parts are. Thanks for the video!
This was extremely helpful on my 2008 Avalanche. Also, I found there are notations inscribed, where the cable connections attach, that are marked with the corresponding color for each cable, since each cable connector is a different color. The door lock was a little tricky but eventually I was able to remove it. As you stated, don't pry out the tab too far or you could break it off.
@pearlmcp The process may be similar on your 2002 Avalanche, but may not be exactly the same. You would need to remove any trim pieces that bolt through the door panel and into the door, and then remove the door panel from the door with a putty knife. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I have the '08 extended cab, and it is exactly as you describe it. One other thing that I found easier was to remove the panel that holds the window and lock controls, and THEN remove the electrical connectors from that. Trying to get those connectors out without taking the panel off is a royal pain.
Thanks for the info. I need to replace the speakers in my 2007 Silverado and this will help me get the door panels off. One note. After you have removed the lock pull, the next shot shows it's still on. Overall though, great advice and help!! THANKS!!!
Thanks I had a 2012 sierra SLE all steps were the same. However there are 2 more 10mm bolts under vertical door handle..pry off cover to gain access. I did use 1aauto parts..great fit
Great Video thanks a lot. It would have been nice to see that lock knob up close to see what we are supposed to bend out or shimmy to release it. I feel like I'll still be jabbing around in there and maybe reck a piece of plastic???
It could be. You also may want to take a look at the door latch too (on the door), there are clasps on there that can sometimes get stuck in the up position causing your door not to close. If that happens, you can usually tap them back open with a flathead screw driver, then spray a little bit of white lithium grease on them to free them up so that they do not stick anymore. Hoep this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
very helpful. the '09 silverado crew cab driver door is slightly different. it has 5 total bolts(2 additional ones that hold the vertical door pull on.
i have an 08 silverado this video was helpful up until actualluy lifting the door panel off. i was able to remove the bolt and trim pieces but something seemed to be keeping the panel from actually coming off. am i missing something??
I have a 2011 Sierra SLE, and absolutely hate where they put the door release. It is down by your feet. Would the door panels from a Sierra SLT fit in place of my stock ones? The door release is up high, like in this video.
I suppose the door panel has to come off to replace the interior door handles on 2007 avalanche? The chrome is coming off mine and very sharp edges. Very poor design for chrome handles.
You may have to. We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows this particular repair. We do carry new replacement interior door handles for your truck with free shipping. Thanks for watching.

@filipinokidd386 yes once you remove the door panel, you should be able to access any screws that hold the speakers onto the door.

@bigman55434 It might fit. If it does then you may also need to change the hardware that connects the door handle to the latch.

@fguevara29 It should lift off of the door. There may be one last screw that's holding it on the you may have missed.
