- Frankai Videos archives comes up with a look at the previous building on the Hudson's Site. 2.5 acres and four basements deep, this was the largest and tallest steel structure ever imploded at the time. Stay tuned for follow up videos, technology permitting!
Great video! Such a shame that the building had to be demolished. On a positive not, a couple years from now the Detroit skyline is going to be quite different with all the construction projects going on, can't wait!
Gilbert would've done something with that building if it stood today.....I mean it still was a sound building, just don't understand why nothing was done
@@MrFullService That’s terrible
@@detroitcityman6622 Hudson’s management, not the building’s fault.
To think that was just ONE store!
I honestly wish they could have kept it and utilized it for something.
Thanks! If this happened today, it may have been saved, but 20 years ago the best option was to "start over". And they did!
@@FrankaiVideos-DetroitsComeback That's the problem with Detroit it prefers start over so lots of architectural treasures lost to vanilla steel and glass buildings.
Very sad day, Detroit has demolished buildings that should have been protected as historic landmarks.
The skyline was actually bigger back then 😭 literally no city even comes close to backtracking their skyline in a 20 year span. So happy this block will sprout up soon again
It’s gone on to be with the Lawd.
😂😂😂😂😂 ....lord help us 🙌🏾
Great memories shopping at Hudson's . Unfortunately it's gone , but fortunately Dan Gilbert is building a tower which will be the tallest building in Michigan . When completed it will be a Detroit landmark and also a American landmark . Thank you Frankai Videos , your the best in the business brother
I still miss Hudson down town DETROIT Department store. I've Hudson vintage shopping bags from Northland Department store. They a keeper
One of a kind building and store that was lost not to the malls but was lost when the city around fell into ruin and it held on as long as it could until the erosion was to much when Hudson’s closed why crowds the store drew where gone such a shame to lose that building Miller could not have been more wrong calling it an albatross
Woodward looks 100 times better today
Just imagine what Gilbert and Bedrock could had done to this building
Hey how were you able to take a video back then when smart phones didnt exist yet?
There was a prehistoric device called a video camera, that used magnetic tape to record moving pictures. The tapes were played back in a box called a VHS player! We adapted the images to fit today's technology! Thanks!
Plus Sony had thir compact handy cam back then with could be held by one hand. Many were used by people recording the attack on the World Trade Centers
I remember the day they imploded the Hudson's building. It's so sad they demolished it for it was was better than the lousy building's they are building in its place.
No it was not.
@@Rapture582yes it was. Ugly trash there now.
corporateers, forever the foulest
I thought was gonna see something there... typical car car brain waste of time.
