- Hi everyone,
Today I'm going to be sharing my TBR for March, which was mostly inspired by the many readathons going on this month.
Please help me choose which book to read for @benreadsgood's Read Good Challenge by letting me know which of these books that inspired Oscar nominated films I should read:
The Body and/or Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption (in Different Seasons) by Stephen King
The Grifters by Jim Thompson
If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin, or
Women Talking by Miriam Toews

So glad you're joining in with The Irish Readathon!! I hope you enjoy everything you read in March x
Thanks Leanne. 😊📚
I love the books that just hop from one TBR to the other! I vote for Women Talking ♥️
At the rate the February TBR is going to keep me going all year! Thanks for your vote Amelia. 💛
Thanks for participating in March Mystery Madness again and I hope you enjoy all your reads for the month ^-^
Thank you, I hope you have a great month and read some great mysteries! 😊📚
I vote If Beale Street Could Talk but Women Talking is also really good too so happy for you to read that as well. 😊
Happy reading lovely 🥰
Good to know I’ve got two good options! 😊📚
I read ‘Women Talking’ for the Read Good challenge. Would recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Perfect, thanks for the vote and good review! 😊📚
I'll read "Bridge To Terabithia" in April I think. :)
I think I will read it then too. 😊📚
You will (I think) really like Robert Crais if you like Lee Child. March is so crazy. I'm going to sit out most of the events so I can mood read and tackle some things on my shelf.
Sitting out most of the events sounds like a very wise move! I really do need to read my shelves but I fear they won’t get a look in with library books for the women’s prize taking over. Thanks for the tip on Crais and Child. 😊📚
I love the Robert Crais books , and yes I think it's a fair comparison . Hope you enjoy him !! I vote for Stephen King. Have a great day reading !
That’s great to hear, thanks David. 😊📚
What an ambitious TBR !!! I love your eclectic mix. I vote for you to read "If Beale St Could Talk". I loved the movie, but haven't read the book myself, so I'm curious to see a review about the book. For March of the Mammoths I'm reading "A Suitable Boy" by Vikram Seth.
Thanks Karen, hope you’re enjoying reading A Suitable Boy. 😊📚
How did I not think about Joyce and the Irish Readathon!
I would put money on Dombey not progressing in March 😂😂😂
The Boggert sounds awesome!
Oooo - Beale Street! I didn’t actually realise there was a film!
I didn’t even think of Women Talking!
Such a Readathon heavy month!!
I feel like this is my most devious TBR yet of just stuffing things I’m already reading into a bunch of readathons. I must actually remember Dombey in March. 😂
Looking forward to The Boggart! Do you think I should read Beale Street or Women Talking?
It really is the month of all the readathons! 😊📚
@@AliceandtheGiantBookshelf Beale Street!! This has to be the year for Baldwin!!
Women Talking. I’m reading The Mona Lisa Vanishes for MGM. I have so many mysteries on Kindle or on my tag list for the library, I’m sure I will not lack for a mystery. I might try Crais.
Thanks Glenda. I too am in no danger of running low on mysteries! 😂📚
I vote for women talking.. Good luck with your massive tbr. Sweetie enjoy your books. I aim to read a woman’s prize book 💪💜
Thanks Em. I hope you enjoy whatever you end up reading. 😊📚💛
I just finished this phenomenal new book of fairy tales entitled Sillies, Fancies, and Trifles - it was phenomenal and I think you'd love it. It would go with the lovely recommendations here. Keep up the beautiful videos :)
Thank you for the recommendation and for your kind words. I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the videos. 😊📚
Women Talking was on my TBR last year, but I didn’t get it read. Moved it to 2024. I vote for Women Talking. 😊
Excellent, thanks Lori. 😊📚
I read The Body the summer before last and it was fantastic! I also had a mess of a time reading Women Talking and subsequently watched the film in a vlog - good times. That's a very hard decision.
Thanks Jess. Yes the choice was too hard for me as well! 😂
My march is going to be an adventure
Middle grade march
-The Golem's Eye by Jonathan Stroud
March of the Mammoths
-Ducks Newburyport by Lucy Ellmann (I'm scared of it so it may be quietly sweped under the rug lol)
42nd book of the year
- Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (reread)
I hope all my books have fierce women, I might use that prompt as an excuse to buy "Animal" by Lisa Taddeo
Book clubs
-The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison
-Other Birds by Sarah Addison Allen
Wow those are some ambitious plans. I am very scared of Ducks Newburyport so I would probably end up hiding from that one. The others sound great though! 😊📚
Happy reading! ☺️💛
Thanks Victoria, and to you! 😊💛
Best of luck with your tbr!!
Thanks Abi. 😊📚
In February my reading was almost non-existent. This year has been full of terrible things for me, so it comes as no surprise that I lost my reading mojo. Not reading is not good for me either, but I'm just not in the right headspace.
I vote for Women Talking.
So sorry to hear that, Amelia. I hope things improve for you soon. My reading is definitely down and I completely know what you mean about the wrong headspace because I’ve been in it. I hope your mojo comes back soon. 😊📚
I vote for the Stephen King (even though it doesn't appear to have a chance of winning)
Still happy to have the vote, thanks Zach. 😊
Vote for James Baldwin.
Thanks for your vote.
Oh, read Women Talking! I'm reading the Tournament of Books right now. I've read 13 of the books, almost done with one, then have 4 left. It starts in 3 days -- yikes! I'm reading Chain Gang All Stars right now. I need to get to the end before I can figure out if I like it or not. 🤷🏻♀️
Ooh I’ve not heard of this tournament but it sounds like fun. I did start Chain Gang All Stars but it had to go back to the library before I could decide how I felt. So I’ll try again another time. 😊📚
@@AliceandtheGiantBookshelf I didn't love it... 😭
@@onourpath that’s a shame. I’m going to give it some time before I try again as I really want to like it and something just wasn’t hitting the spot.
voting for Women Talking in audio. Waiting for WP for fiction. recently read Thunderclap for the BookTube prize and is on the non-fiction Women's Prize.
Thank you. Did you enjoy Thunderclap? I have it out from the library.
Can't say too much due to BT prize but if you have an interest in art during the Golden Age in the Netherlands.
@@Ihearbooks ah sorry I forgot you said Booktube prize. It will be interesting to hear everyone’s thoughts once judging is finished for the round. 😊
You have a great TBR planned! To me, Stone Sky is the best of the 3. (Maybe because I finally understood things better - lol)
Love Elvis Cole and Joe Pike! The Joe Pike character is reminiscent of Reacher, but I think Crais is more like Michael Connelly than Child. The Harry Bosch books are very good too.
MMM won't be the same without Janelle. She recommended so many good historical mysteries to me. I will never forget her...
Your persistence with Ulysses is amazing 😄. I only made it about 50 pages.
Enjoy your reads!! Thank you for sharing them with us!!
Thanks BJ. I’m looking forward to trying Elvis Cole - is Joe Pike in the same series or a different one? I’m excited to finally understand some things in Stone Sky.
Completely agree MMM will never be the same without Janelle. Her enthusiasm for all the mysteries and her daily videos will be greatly missed.
I hope you have a good reading month. 😊📚
@AliceandtheGiantBookshelf Elvis and Joe Pike are in the same series. Some books have them both, some are mostly Elvis and some are mostly Joe. I have not yet read them all and I'm reading them in order. Crais has a bit of humor that is not in either Child or Connelly. He's in my top 10 mystery authors for sure. I'm reading about 30 mystery series. They tend to get "samey" if I read them back to back, so I rotate around.
Read Different Seasons!
Thank you!
Read Women Talking already!
Thanks Judy. I really should. 😊
I still think of your channel as a mystery channel 🤔
I’m glad! Because mysteries are the best. 😊
