I bought mine in 9/22 but didn’t put real miles on it until this summer of ‘23. My main advice would be always carry a spare tire or tube repair kit with a 18mm wrench! and a small pump. I got my first flat tire and discovered that pushing a 67 lb bike with a flat tire, even with the walking assist feature, isn’t easy. The extra weight flattens the tire and tube absolutely. So be prepared! When it happened to me I was fortunately just a quarter mile from home but I was just returning from a 10 mile trip. Even though I’m in NYC the bike is too heavy to climb stairs on the subway and the bike is a bit too large for a taxi so be prepared to fix a flat on the road.

Still ABSOLUTELY THE BEST VALUE. A quality bike! period. I’ve only got 600+ miles on mine but I’ve had it everywhere, including off road single tracks.
I got mine from a dealer and bought an extended warranty and free three year bi annual service. Still, the best price quality bike out there.

My wife and I purchased two Discover 1s on sale for $1,100 each. We love them. My wife’s commute is 500 to 1000 feet gain in elevation and the bike handles the hills no problem even with her laptop and other work items. The brakes work very well. The range is excellent . 40-60 miles.
Again, we love these bikes, but I do have some feedback for Velotrec. The bike would be better if they expanded the range of their sprockets. The highest gear is good for power level 4, but not quite so good for power level 5. You have to pedal extremely fast on power level 5 to avoid “ghost pedaling” (i.e. pedaling with no resistance)
    Great bike for the money!

Got mine on a Black Friday sale too. Took it out for a ride yesterday for the first time and the power assist isn't working though the display is powered on. I didn't know there was a connection that can be unplugged so now I'll check that to make sure it is connected properly. Maybe that's the problem. Thank you for your video.

    Great video.
Was wondering if is the controller programmable PAS levels, Max Speed, etc.? Like they are on Himiway bikes?

They said they did this for shipping purposes but fail to let customers know. I wonder how many are riding their bikes with the forks backwards. Very dangerous.

Hey ! Just got my discover 1 a couple days ago and me & my son built it today . Ran into a few bumps first one being the handle bars , oh man they were all twisted up. Unscrewed something , readjusted and got them right . Your point on the front suspension answers My question completely, that I was going to call velotric for tomorrow so thanks for that info. I do have a 3 inch silver tubular thing left over but don't know if it's needed on the bike🤷🏻‍♀️ maybe you can help me with that. Also is there some sort of spacer that I should have for the front tire as that was our second point of contention on the bike. it made a rubbing noise when I spun the tire and then we loosen some things and move some things and somehow got it to be OK but I know there was talk of some sort of space or do you know anything about that? I appreciate any info you can give me

You do know that the fender is not just for water but to stop a potential rock from flying up and hitting you in the face.

Velotric has a policy of not posting negative reviews on its website. I purchased two bikes and left a one-star review for my purchased. After that, Velotric sent me an email stating that they reserve the right to select which reviews to post and which ones to reject.

Can you make a video how to change the speed limiter I ordered mine and want to know how to do it

    • @HotshotTek
      @HotshotTek  Рік тому +3

I’m working on it. But to adjust the max top speed to 25mph. After powering it off. Hold the power button and the + button for 20 seconds. The screen should change to a max speed setting. Change it to 40km. Just remember doing this could voide the warranty and may cause wear and tear faster. I’m still experimenting with it so do this at your own risk.

I did this and I am having power assist problems. Velotric says that if you do this, it cannot be reversed, which is crazy. Very limited on the customization of power levels.@@HotshotTek

I looked & search the internet to find out what
[ AP ] & under the letters AP are four [ 0000 ] zeros. You can display this by pressing the + - & power button simultaneously . If you or someone in the comment can explain what this is for , I'll give you a thumb up/like . Thanks.

I love my Discover Had it for a year now/ 700 miles. Crazy thing happened two weeks ago. The odometer reset it self to zero! How dod it happen? This should never happen. Any Idea if I did anything? I did not reset. Does Velotric’s computer have a back door that I accidentally accessed by a combination of pushbuttons?
Another subject. I have done some off road. It’s not a mountain bike but does well on green and light-mid-blue trails.
Yet another subject: I think it is so reasonably priced because of their manufacturing. Brand new state-of-the art robotic manufacturing plant. Worth $3,000!

@@HotshotTek Void, not avoid the warranty. I'm not so sure it would void it since it's not an after market hack but a built in feature. You can't give an option and then tell someone they can't use it?

No one talks about Velotricbike's terrible return policy. If you attempt to return the bike, Velotricbike will keep $200 plus an additional 20% of the purchase price. Additionally, you will have to pay for shipping, which only adds to the pain.
