    We just installed this one, the ES 3.0 3 speed ECM motor, from the typical gabel attic fans that are noisey and only have one speed, full blast. Can't wait to experience how the 3 speeds work out to our benefit. Already, this unit is 80% quieter and we know the savings in power cost to run it will help much. Also, this green fan has real BALL BEARINGS.
    That is a great short explaination of the benefits of attic fans. Most folks just aren't aware of the mechanics of where the heat comes from and how it is generated, stored and retained. This also applies to inside the house when it comes to turning down the temps when occupied but then turning it up when not occupied such as on a work day. All day long the inside temps will rise including the insides walls, flooring, furniture, bedding and anything that is inside the home. Then, folks come home and turn on the A/C which has to work longer to bring down the heat plus it has to cool off all of the interior physical items. Then doing it again the next 22 days in a month might likely cost more than if the temps were simply left alone 24x7 and at a reasonable temp such as 76 or higher. Anything lower 24x7 is probably going to cost more overall but the physics are the same, lower temps will cost more than higher settings.
    Then, the whole house fan idea comes into play for those lucky enough to live in areas where the nights cool down below 80 for example. I've often thought of multiple smaller whole house fans for bedrooms and the living areas to take advantage of keeping just those rooms cooler when asleep. With today's electric rates, especially in CA, the initial cost of installing these is nothing compared to just one or two A/C bills from Southern CA Edison or the other two PG&E & SDG&E. One thing for sure, CA need a rate police to determine where the added revenue is going vs. other states like Nevada who charges 6 times less for power. SCE rates of 45+ cents vs 8 cents per kWh in NV.

    I grew up in a house with an attic fan, in a tropical climate. We did not run it constantly - but often. The only AC we had was in certain rooms and we used it very judiciously. The fan made a HUGE difference. One of my fondest memories as a child, was in summer, after a rain, when the scent of the night-blooming jasmine would fill the whole house.

    I just ordered and installed this fan. But I totally forgot to install the rubber bumber pads that came with the fan. The bats distracted me. 😢 The fan is way too loud with vibration. So now i have to crawl back in the hot attic to reinstall. 😂

    Yes, but does this combo work in Louisiana when at 10pm it is still 90+ degrees and the Humidity is 80% or above. Doesn’t seem like it would work.

      I think prolly not, but would it make sense if adding an a/c unit in the attic to keep the attic cooler and using ceiling fans for normal rooms to keep cool especially in 100° weather

      Whole House fans work great in the spring and fall in your area and have limited use during the hot summer months. Instead of running your ac 10 months a year you can cut down the annual usage to only 3-4 months a year

    I wonder how well just the attic fan would help during the day/above a certain temperature in Florida where the sun is extremely hot & doesn’t cool off at night. My builder put a black roof on(?) and didn’t put enough attic vents to save money (they framed vents but didn’t install half of them!) our attic get so hot that the ceiling feel hot even though there’s the proper amount & type of insulation. I tried to go up there one day to do something real quick, that was not happening. It was significantly hotter than a blacked out vehicle in a parking lot all day.

    • @qcmanufacturing
      @qcmanufacturing  18 днів тому +1

      It would make a huge difference. It’s going to be the attic within 5-10 degrees of the outside temp on avg. so even on 100 plus degree days instead of having an attic 150 degrees it will only be 110 degrees and follow it down as the temp drops.

    I've seen in some of the other videos the whole house fan is facing away from the attic fan. Is this the proper orientation of the combo? I haven't been able to find a video or info confirming this.

      @qcmanufacturing  3 місяці тому +2

      It typically doesn’t matter where you point the motor head of the whole house fan in the attic. We recommend pointing it towards the center of the attic. Natural positive pressure will force all the attic air out of the attic.

    Just got my installation yesterday. I have a question that I should ask the tech. I have my attic fan preset on summer mode after 80° Attic fan kicks in at low speeds, but at the same time, I have my whole house fan still on and still early pulling in fresh air. My question is if the attic fan on and who house fan on would it damage the attic fan motor since is the smaller unit are they pushing air out of the attic together or they working against each other? Please advise. Thank you in advance 😊

    • @qcmanufacturing
      @qcmanufacturing  11 місяців тому +2

      No, they’re designed to run at the same time. All it’s going to do is push air out faster and work even better.

    If I install the combo, will the attic fan pull air from the whole house fan duct. removing conditioned air?

      Hello,
      As long as you have the proper amount of venting in the attic space, you should be just fine.

    Can you block off the whole house fan duct during the day so you don't lose the AC-cooled air?

      You won’t need to because there is a damper system in place preventing any attic air leaking back down into your home.

      They both serve two different problems. Attic fans help during the day to keep your attic within 10 degrees of the outside temperature at all times. Whole house fans cool your home and attic and help you turn off your ac. AC is the most expensive appliance to run and replace in your home. The whole house fans solve that issue and can even help your ac last up to 20-30 years. AC systems only lasts about 12.5 year on average nationwide. So if you can protect that investment it’s super beneficial.

    Attic fan will cause a negative pressure in the attic causing leakage of cold air into the attic, the same air that your AC worked hard to cool being wasted in the attic. Also can lead to condensation around fixtures in the ceiling leading to mold and moisture damage. Radient barrier is way more efficient and doesn't require electricity.

    • @qcmanufacturing
      @qcmanufacturing  11 днів тому +6

      Attic fans do not pull air from the house into attic. They just cool and ventilate your attic. They keep your attic within 10 degrees of the outline temperature at all times. There is no much air flow it is impossible to cause mold and condensation. It actually does the opposite and prevents it in your attic.

    I want to install an attic fan and a house 🏠 fan here in the Midwest but every contractor has advised against it Some say there is a danger ‼️ of sucking carbon monoxide up into your house in the summer with this set up..????

      Absolutely false, we have sold approximately 1 million fans across the entire USA. We have never had an issue with that. It comes from a lack of understanding.
