I love the colors and the music choice! I hope we can all learn to love the rain! Thanks for the reminder that we can’t control every situation, we just need to make the best of it. It was a good reminder for me 💜

I'm glad you liked it! It's a reminder that I need for myself sometimes too. I repeated it to myself many times on the trip after this one... Thank you for always watching my stuff 😊

Thanks Nick! I'm glad you liked the music, I've been waiting to use that one for a while. I was giggling like an idiot last night over those bloopers 🤣 One day I might just have to make a 30-minute outtake reel, haha. I can't wait for some winter adventure. Bring on the snow!

Wow, your prologues are pure 🔥🔥🔥. Your films are so immersive and inspirational. +1 on the music choice as well. The shots of the salamander were great and the shot at 17:35 is also 🔥 (pun intended). Y'all really nailed peak fall color on this one. Another benefit of the rain/overcast skies are the colors of the forest really pop!! Looking forward to your winter content. Keep up the great work!!

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement! I'm glad you liked the prologue and the music. I just can't get enough of those canister stove flames. They're so photogenic, haha. You're right about the rain making the colors pop. The whole forest seemed to be glowing all day. I hope to have some good winter stuff soon. Looking forward to some snow!

Fantastic video, Chad!! I really love how uplifting this one felt with your thoughts on rain and life. I left my viewing feeling encouraged and thankful for my life and hope for days and months ahead. I have several things I wanted to point out that I particularly enjoyed!
-Intro: Your words on taking difficult, uncontrollable things in life and using them for good is really convicting and personal to me, so I’m glad you touched on it. Actually, what you said mirrors the Jewish concept of “tikkun olam” (fixing the world) through our lives and good deeds to the earth and humanity, so it’s awesome to see the parallels here.
-2:36-- I love shots like this one of the mountains- very tight framing, close up, feels very intimate.
-4:48 The whole Forest is glowing here! Wow!
-6:27 You are so right! Food and drink out in the elements, especially rain, taste so much better than normal! I experienced that this week on the PMT with the cold and snow, my trail food got a new life in terms of taste haha
-7:24-- your newt shots are fantastic!! Can’t believe how macro you can take your camera- totally didn’t notice the bumpiness of its skin and the black outline around its spots
-I agree with Nick that you chose the music very well on this one. I love the swelling strings throughout.
-8:57 rain bringing solitude is a good perspective. Hadn’t thought about that, but again it parallels the snow we’ve experienced in the past and how that brings solitude, too
-9:48 the close up shot you got of me at Buzz Worm is really cool! That is prof pic worthy, too!
-11:48 the colors of the valley below and your panning of it is a really good sequence
-13:58 the rain hitting your lens throughout this video makes the theme of “loving to love the rain” that much more intimate and connected and personal
-16:45 Rain and thankfulness are inextricably linked. So good
-17:45 cooking pancakes in the sleeping bags is a dream. So glad you captured this moment!
-You win the award again for best bloopers! So good! I totally forgot about the “mouth sounds” I gifted you with at 20:50 🤣Sorry not sorry!
Again, great job on this episode of BTC. You helped close out my birthday weekend on a great note. Can’t wait for our 2022 adventures!

Thank you so much! I'm very glad to hear that it made you feel encouraged and thankful. This is something that I think about often, and I've wanted to make a video about it for a long time. I'm glad we finally had a nice rainy trip for it, haha. I was trying to keep it in mind at Dolly Sods 😅 Thank you for telling me about "tikkun olam." I find that very interesting, and you'll have to tell me more about it. "Fixing the world" sounds exactly like what I was trying to get at.
      - When I saw the forest glowing, it almost felt like I was hallucinating, haha. I've never felt so consumed by fall colors before.
      - The rain and snow spice really does make food taste better, haha. I forgot to ask you which meal you ended up going with on the PMT, but it was probably the best trail meal you've ever had!
      - I think the newt shots are my favorite part of the video. I loved that guy.
      - I'm glad you like the music. I love those string parts, and I tried to line them up with appropriate shots.
      - Yes, snow brings even more solitude! I've always liked how the consolation prize for a rainy trip is some nice solitude.
      - I'm glad you like those close-ups at Buzz Worm! I can send you a still if you want.
      - On the trail I kept trying to dry my lens, but I ended up really liking the effect of the rain on the lens. I agree that it makes it feel more immersive.
      - Thanks again for those pancakes! Every time I watch that segment I wish we were back in our sleeping bags in the Black Bear Shelter for another 12 hours of relaxation, haha.
      - Om nom nom nom nom 😂 You and Nick made those bloopers! I just happened to be there with a camera rolling!
Thanks as always for sharing your thoughts. I really appreciate you taking the time. I'm glad I could help out with making your birthday weekend a good one. I'm so pumped for our 2022 adventures!
