I really enjoyed this video I not only learned something (by the way thank you for all farmers that really work hard) but I also got to listen to a good looking man sing. Blessings.
Thanks Jerald9000 for the comment! This semi is rated around 500 horse power and is a Detroit for a motor. It's my favorite sounding of the 3 trucks we have. Our other 2 have a cummins and a mercedes and we just retired Cat before the newest truck we got. They are all Freightliners we have for hauling grain and moving our tiling equipment.
I didn't see your comment until now. They still have distillers grain from it that goes to high protein livestock feed. So that's goes back to helping provide food. Also since we've gained ethanol plants us farmers get paid better for our corn. For us in particular we are hauling our grain half the distance we used to.We are only going 30 minutes to haul it instead of 1 hour. It reduces some of our dependance on foreign oil. Ethanol blended fuel will burn a little cleaner than non blended fuel.
The moment at 5:24 looks scary, going down the ladder so close to a moving vehicle. I fell of a ladder multiple times and I am glad I never had a moving semi behind me.
I not as up on the price as my dad and brother who are on the ownership end and on an almost daily basis know the price being offered selling grain. I keep up roughly throughout year where market price is at and what we some of it for. It's a 1,000 bushel trailer. I don't remember off hand what the price was when this video was shot a few years ago. Took today's price of around 6 dollars a bushel. A bushel of corn is 56 pounds in weight. So this semi load at 6 dollars would be $6,000 of corn.
Yeah it's not my best singing in this video. I do sing karaoke pretty well usually. Funny because videos I feature my singing karaoke don't get near this many views. Oh well, I was willing to poke fun of myself and too I don't think I anticipated this many views.
Yeah out the side it's gravity flow. Then the last like 20 loads of this bin we use an auger. It has a sweep in inside that feeds it to the middle. Then that internal auger goes to the big outside auger. This bin is about 80 some feet tall and 48 foot diameter. So it's a really big bin.
I don't know why I just watched this. I haul corn for a living. Lol If that trailer is the same size as mine he's running around 90,000 lb. You go son. More weight more $$$$$$
Yeah. lol I hear about this video from time to time and like my brother saying I can't believe you would post that part with the singing along to the radio. Oh well, I figured I could poke fun of myself some and give you guys some extra entertainment once in a while. Some people hate that part and others find it funny. Glad you at least find it funny.
Awesome to see all that corn moving, but ruins it to know that we are making ethanol out of it, what a phenomenal waste of energy, corn, farmland, everything.
really cool vid, is that gravity flow loading? if so you must auger out the lower half, or is it an internal auger system? I've never seen bins unloaded like this before thats very fast.
That's definitely over 80,000 lbs.? First time you get caught by a. portable scales you'll remember for the rest of your life! Yes it's that bad! ... Then you'll be singing the blues or a rerun of the old Hee Haw TV hour!
fireguy86 I agree if you can do it by law great. I just yesterday got a written warning by the Illinois State Police weight station for being 1840 lbs. Over weight on front tandems, overall weight was still legal at 79,840 lbs. .... they let me out without fix it just this one time, but from now on I get fined and got to start carrying a shovel to scoop it till it's fixed. .... Welcome to Illinois?
Ethanol is bad for engines and no longer required to be added to gasoline in most states....so why does the federal government still subsidize corn farming?
I'm new to using hopper trailers, and I'm wondering what I can do to help prevent the chutes from freezing, and to help keep the tarp rolling mechanism working? Can you use something like methyl hydrate or break free on key areas? Thank you.

Very informative!
The start of e85😍
Great awesome video
Correct way to load a 53 ft trailer with front and back lift axle to avoid a heavy weight ticket with wheat or grain DNS or HW
everything was fine until he started singing😁😁😁😁 Without being offended, I am fascinated by trucks

I've seen a few trucks turn over in kentucky and lose some corn. My step dad hauled and I dont think I could do it.
How much is all that corn worth? That's what I want to know.
Thought we were going see the truck being unloaded too
That's the same truck that'll be hauling chicken litter next week

You need to move the farm closer to the drop off point. Save gas, the environment and the trucks ears.
great vid!
Why do US trailers always have the axles so far at the rear of the trailer?
Save big money at Menards!
Even the camera tried to commit suicide because of that damn music.
Ethanol is bad for engines and no longer required to be added to gasoline in most states....so why does the federal government still subsidize corn farming?
