  • Travel video about destination Persepolis in Iran.
    Persepolis, City Of The Persians, is located within a fertile plain surrounded by mountains in what is today the Iranian province of Fars. The ruins of the former residence of the Achaemenid Empire are one of the greatest and most impressive palace complexes in the world, with mighty gateways, extensive barracks, reception and audience halls, as well as royal palaces. It is the most important architectural legacy of the first Persian Empire which had its heyday between the sixth and fourth centuries B.C. Dareios The Great began construction of his ceremonial capital city shortly after he had attained power as Third Emperor of Persia. Although he already had two capital cities, Pasargadae and Susa, he wanted to present to the world a third impressive city. For fifty eight years, Ionic stonemasons, Babylonian brick makers, Median and Egyptian goldsmiths, worked in Persepolis and created what was an indelible symbol of the Achaemenid Empire. Today, cleared of rubble and sand, its former glory can be imagined in full: Persepolis the magnificent!

    The old city that I love most. The visual aesthetic harmony of Greek architecture and Persian mythology. I imagine the time, women come to fill water under the brightly painted columns, children play. Horses neigh and the past is brought back to reality in the perspective of a dream.

    • @KeyhaneBishomar
      @KeyhaneBishomar 6 років тому +13

      sanch Sanchayan make seens becouse Greece temples were so simple and smaller , no detailed carvings , but Persia was something like the England under 1800.ad and Greece were just a small kingdom at that time (athen) not a united kingdom as it is today!
      Xerxes 'll occupied Greece at arround 500 bc and put a Satrapi for Greece to lead all greeco macedon tribes under a single lead. That's how the bigger Greece appeared a few hundreds of years later! So I'm sure they totally copied ancient middleeast (proto islamic)
      Even the Spartan helmets are those from ancient Assyrian Nobel soldiers brought or traded to Greece by phenisians few hundred years before they first Spartan state apear.

    • @zuldo8577
      @zuldo8577 4 роки тому +2

      Why, because they built in stone?
      There certainly was some Persian influence, just as Egyptian architecture influenced Persia, but I think the styles are quite distinct.

    • @linadavidian8848

      Persepilis is a medly of styles from the Persians, Greeks, Assyrians, Babylonians, and Egyptians as artists from all corners of the empire were brought to built the site. A beautiful conglamoration of different religious and ethnic groups.
      Nobody " copied" from anyone as they were inspired from each other.
