Honored to be part of the student org in 2014 who hosted Dumbfoundead in Minnesota! Fun fact, the other guest was Steven Lim, who at the time quit his job to pursue UA-cam full time with much less of a following than today. It really was one of the only ways to connect with multiple different Asian communities and bring them together. Ever since then I still keep in contact with a lot of those people!
Great episode! I’m not Asian (allegedly 👀). But I grew up watching these guys, Wong Fu, Ryan, Arden Cho, Timothy, KevJumba and many many more. I just wanted to say you guys had an undeniable impact beyond your culture or racial descent. Never forget that! 🔥🔥🔥💯 Thank you for having a great pod, Dumb 😂
Dang I remember this era. I remember relating much more to them than wong fu or the other famous asian youtubers at the time. Glad to see they're doing well and glad to hear they remained independent and true to themselves. Respect
Calling them jk films and not jk news is such an OG fan thing. I call them jk films in my head but whenever i hear news i forget. Its like a way to know how og u r
hey dumb, this episode was create , the blunt and transparency when the 2 were talking about their youtube channel and business was much needed. you should do more interview of the business aspect of youtubers and like the behindthescenes.
Great episode dumb. it felt like a full circle moment watching because i was a big fan of both you and jkfilms. One thing i respect about joe and bart is that they're so much more knowledgable and wise than they let on. They bring so much more to the table than just comedic elements. really enjoyed this one.
Yoo I love listening to Joe outside of jkn. When he caps what he can and can’t say, it’s almost always something informative and entertaining instead of being mostly funny and enjoyable cringe
Bobby Lee's "Tigerbelly" rules; he is definitely an OG; the Mount Rushmore of Comedy (people like: Margaret Cho, Johnny Yune, Henry Cho, Tamayo Otsuki, Steve Park ("In Living Color") ).
i emailed these guys in the late 2010s trying to get them to come to a university event i was hosting and their talent fee was insane 😂 wayyyy over our budget, suppose I was born too late / late to the game cuz every school w a decent Asian population managed to snag them in the late 2000s/early 2010s
Dumb described himself as "Alternative". Reminds me of the podcast with Uncle Roger and he referred to us Asian Americans as our own thing, having our own separate identity which I thought was interesting. Liked the comparison of Asians across the country in various communities. I was one of those "low self-esteem" Asians in a rural area. 😅😮 Appreciated the mention of Shirley Temple too. Was always a big fan of hers.❤
"like that was a doable thing." - Bart. on Joe wanted to unite all Asians; but it was too segregated, back in the day; in fighting (Asians who can't stand other Asians); if not, Africans vs. South Asians (Indians/Desi: Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladeshi, Pakistan, Nepalese, Bhutan) vs. Asians; Africans vs. African-Americans.

I still think Asian parents will pick doctors lawyers and other careers that are long-term for their kids than acting or any influenster

@@sara.cbc92 he doesn't care. He referred to himself as Chinese all the time. Even his son says he's Chinese.
