@Chris I don't either, but a company like Creality should be able to afford to launch their product without using a crowd-funding website. It's also worrisome selling tons of printers without major reviews and comparisons.

Not sure if that would be super useful because most decent printers can get a close to perfect result with enough tuning.

I'm extremely happy with my CR10S, but this thing looks a lot more polished. Good on them for keeping improving their products. That drawer seems super handy.
Yesterday, my nephew and I were talking about jointly buying a Prusa MK3S (he's in mechanical engineering). Then I saw a comment on a forum about this printer and checked the kickstarter page and this review. An hour later I was a backer. This morning I told him I had ordered a printer, and since it's half the price of the Prusa, told him to keep his money and I'd pay for it. He's already looking for stuff to design. ;)

As an early backer / pre-order of this machine I was stoked to see that they sent you one to review. This will be my first printer so it looks like the machine was super easy to set up and start printing. Really looking forward to your print request video!
Side note...rumor was that a stretch goal would be to update the purchase to a CR-6 max with a larger build volume. Hoping there is some truth to that.

I'm in the same boat. This will be my first FDM printer. I hadn't heard the rumor of the larger build volume stretch goal. That would be fantastic.

I seriously doubt they would change the build volume as that could turn off a portion of backers. My hunch is these were finalized and boxed (32 board included) for some time...
PLEASE do more videos on this printer. I have backed the project and it will be my first 3D printer. I need to learn a bunch about it before it is released. Love all your videos and hope to see more on this printer in the near future. Thanks so much!
To be honest, we need to hear your opinion about whether they should have put it on Kickstarter or not. You are a leader in the 3D printing community and have a large voice. Side note, I would not say this is an incredible innovation. It's an improvement.
Agree! I have a difficult time excepting it is on Kickstarter. I would have been 100% ok if it's on per-order but because the fact that it was on kickstarter I am totally turn off in buying this printer. I am a strong believer that Kickstarter are for small indie companies that needed the fund to create their projects.
I almost bought an Ender 3 last week with my stimulus. I am glad I waited, I think I will hop on this kickstarter.

now test that printer to its limits! speed, overhangs, temperatures, types of filaments!
I know you're going to be doing a review of the prints themselves probably next few days but this video alone convinced me this will be my first 3D printer and decided to back it earlier this evening. Everything about this seems more streamlined for 2020 standards. The handle, the spool attachment, the ease of setup, the price, even the built in tool drawer is extremely appealing and the build volume is just big enough. Thanks for the great content and look forward to test print results

Yannick Morand - They announced it with the 6SE but did not give a date. I would think not to long after the 6SE hits the market this fall. Everything looked the same except for the 310x310 print bed

You just need to find the secret compartment first. :)
Suggestions: frame stiffening via skinning with aluminum plate, ditch the vslot wheels for rails (china rails talking maybe $80 more for all axis), maybe put Z steppers on top (lots of reasons), swap hotend to volcano 2.0.
Dragon high flow is probably the better upgrade than just the volcano
Test the limits of the machine: Print ABS and miniatures.

You mean upgrade your printer farm to fit more machines? The Ender 3 can still be modded to be equal or even better than this, but right out of the box this new machine is even better. But it also costs more. If only I had more space for more printers...^^

Ellweas: Probably, but if you already have an Ender 3 it’d be the better option I think

@@Ellweas I upgraded mine with glass bed for around 30€ and silent drivers with 32bit board for around 30€ as well. I paid 155€ for my machine itself. ABL and filament runout werent that important to me yet, but I have a 3D touch probe laying around and you could add a filament runout sensor really cheap (it is basically just another microswitch in a case) So for me it was still cheaper to go with the Ender 3. Not to mention that this new printer didn't even exist, when I bought it.

There actually is another Ender 3 v2 that Creality has in pre-order now! That one has Ender branding, runs cheaper, and doesnt have some QOL features like auto bed leveling or touch screen. Would say this looks more like a luxury Ender, and closer to the CR series

I just picked up my second Ender 3 Pro but I eventually plan to get this when it releases as my third printer. This hobby is addictive lol
belt tensioners, quiet, bed leveling, good build quality, side spool holder, touch screen, and 2 lead screws? man this is a nice machine.

First of all. Great video! It's been a few years since I've had my last 3d printer. It was early stage, so sold it and waited for the 3D printers to improve. Now is the time. Were going to buy a Prusa MK3s when Creality annouced this bad boy. Went for it. This video is making my fingers tiggle. Can't wait.
A few improvements I would like to see from what you've shown in your video is:
Software:
- Make it so that the buildplate would go to the front when print is done, so that you dont have to make the plate move like you do at 14:38 .
On some printers it can fry the electronics, since your generate electricity when moving the plate.
Hardware:
- Change the micro-usb port to a USB-C port (see: 13:06 ) It's 2020 for god sake.
- Either include a SD-Card reader or add the possibility to use a USB stick (See: 13:06 ).
- Maybe even wifi controlled like when accesing the settings of a router from browser with 192.168....
Other than that. Seems great.
Let me know what you think folkes, so that maybe we can make it happend.
Creality FTW. Because they know we're super nerds who are going to go over the thing with a fine tooth comb as soon as we get it out of the box. Love the secret drawer.
Great video. Your excitement with getting things set up and printing reminded me of when I got a bike for my birthday. Must be a really fun job. Thinking of getting this 3d printer for myself.

I have a Creality ender 3 pro, and was a 100% complete noob to 3D printing. And I can tell you, I've made a ton of fun stuff with it. With ZERO knowledge. Creality makes a great printer in my inexperienced opinion.
3D printing is advancing so rapidly its amazing. This thing looks SO great.
Literally everything shown here has been available for years, it's nothing new.

Very happy with the CR-6 SE so far.... only complaint is the minimal documentation. I have been writing my own missing manual to capture additional info and provide links to resources such as your video.
To be honest this does look to be Creality's best printer to date. Tons of improvements. I flexible spring steel PEI sheet would be very welcome as an optional printing bed. I know some folks swear by the glass though so whatever works I guess.
Naomi did a decent video on this AWESOME printer, but I'm eagerly watching your video too, just to see what your experience is with this product!
Please do a TPU Benchy test print and then we will know how good it really is.

@@gaellafond6367 I've printed hundreds of TPU masks on Ender3, CR10 for the last two months. All you need us a MacEwen extruder gear.
CHEP just released a similar video and he did manage to print TPU without issues.
Same, I'm thinking about getting this printer and would like to know how it handles TPU.
So the printer came in yesterday, the power supply fan is loud. But setup is so quick and easy.m Printer up and printing in half an hour, longest time was finding the power supply swithc to change it to 115. Interesting printer.
This design is going to be huge, and when they bring out one with a huge build volume I'm buying one
They already have a larger max version of this series. It's mentioned on their kickstarter

Is it better than the Ender 5? The double Z-axis is really impressive. Obviously, the build volume is smaller but this is still really impressive from what I see so far.

As someone with a stock CR-10 that came with a glass bed that was already warped and unusable, I'm kind of jealous how Creatlity is suddenly making 3D printers that are built worth a damn.

Looks like they addressed most of the annoyances you get with an ender 3. I like it!
Nice review. This looks like a great printer! But I think it’s missing one critical feature. When I asked Creality about a dual head option, I got this response;
“It is just like paint on a sculpture. When you finished the print of the model, you can color the model.
Creality CR-6 SE Team”
Poetic, but I feel "no" may have been more straight forward!
So the extrusions are closed on two opposing sides. That means no linear rail conversion without new extrusions. Ended 3 v2 looks like a much better deal.
The x- Axis belt tensioner looks very similar to the most common one people print themselves for their Ender 3. But the printed part has limitations due to the layer adhesion, so their part is superior. The drawer is also similar to a common mod. Creality listens to our feedback in a interesting manner. They imitate the community mods to give us what we want. In a way it is perfect.
My ender 3 came with that bed, its awesome. I can print PETG strait on it and once it cools i don't need any force to remove them

They have mentioned a "CR-6 max" in their Facebook group apparently.
Looks like a great printer, specially for first time users or people that only print once in a while. Easy to set up, easy to store, easy to get a good first layer, quiet, clean. There's no manual bed levelling to deal with. Apparently a good print surface. The price is not sub $200, but neither is the quality.

I've got a little MSLA machine for my jewelry work...this is one of the first FDM style printers that gets me a bit excited. I love the quietness.

I love the use of the larger sd card, the small one is hard to insert, The touch screen is awesome and the other new features are great. did they move the filament path away from the Z screw and would like to see the power switch in the front of the unit. Why they didn't use the better bowden tube is beyond me... would like to see a hotter nozzle It would also be nice to see a model that has the extruder motor on the nozzle to minimize the bowden tube.
I have a CR-10, and like it, other than the wrapped bed, it has been trouble free. I am looking for another printer with a smaller bed, and something I can do PLA and PETG easier. So, I am looking forward to your review.

Not sure why they went with a Bowden tube instead of direct drive. It gets rid of weight on the hot end carriage, which is good, but introduces complexity and slop in the filament path.
It looks like a lot of these new things are possible upgrades for existing Ender 3s.

Once you propperly level the bed you won't EVER need glue. I just whipe with a piece of cloth and its ready to go for the next print.
Seems to be a pretty awesome machine. I'd prefer a flexible build plate though. Does it have power loss recovery?
I'll bet that moving spool holder will appear on Thingaverse in the next few days.
Looks good. I bought an Ender 3 Pro a month ago but if this were available I might have bought this. It has pretty much all the machine upgrades I have on my to-do list except for a direct drive extruder. Well done Creality, just switch to a direct drive extruder and make it perfect.
It'll be interesting to see, a really tall build,. Around 245-248mm tall. I had issues on my ender 3 pro printing that tall. The bowden tube rubbed on the top gantry. Which forced down on the hot end and caused a reverse elephants foot. This led to the print failing, after 3 days of printing 🤦♂️I fixed the issue, by extending the bowden tube around the right hand upright, instead of going through/under the top gantry from the extruder.
Bought my first 3d printer at november. Bought another one last month. I think I'll buy this one at June.
It looks like they followed people's suggestions to pre-heat prior to leveling. I like how they were responsive to users in designing this, by integrating many common modifications people tend to do, like tensioners, tool holders, etc..
I've been wanting to get into using a 3d printer for making terrain for my miniature war-gaming hobby and this hit Kickstarter at the right time. I jumped in and will be getting one myself. Thank you for this unboxing and quick review and subbing so I can see when you do the first print with it. I'm anxious to see how it works.
I wish my Ender 3 had some of these from the get go. The bed locks and belt tensioners built in is Great
New camera guy is alright. At first I expected the extra talking to get a bit annoying but it was fine. It added a sort of friendly atmosphere.

An ABL that measure right from the nozzle is intriguing because it will allow printer to generate a mesh of the entire bed. Probes mounted to side of nozzle cant fully probe the opposite side of the bed. My only concern lies with the firmware-- likely Marlin 2, improperly attributed... hoping they release it.
Interesting that you like the lever style extruder drive... My very old Replicator 2X came with similar extruders, and upgrades to spring loaded, squeeze to release, are some of the most popular printed upgrades. It all goes full circle...
Most of the latest Creality machines have the silicon carbide glass bed, and Creality has been selling it for over a year.
Honestly, The quiteness alone is such a Beauty. If i had the money I’d definitely upgrade from my ender.
Joel, I'm surprised - you really aren't up to date on creality stuff - the glass bed has been around for a while. Are you allowed to crack it open and give us a look at the board? A bunch of us in the ender 3 community are wondering how the new bed leveling communicates to the board (a lot of us want to bring that hot end to the ender 3 whenever we can source the individual parts down the line),
I have the CRS-10 and do like it, a lot. For what I print, the 300x300x400mm is more than I need. I’m impressed with the CR6.
An established company, such as Creality should not use Kickstarter to fund their new projects. IMNTBHO
Price is right (love it). I love the leveling method. I love the reduction in noise. I am considering getting one.

The drawer is not mentioned because its an optional addon and they dont want to have to change the booklet according to if you have the drawer
I say add it to your print farm for PPE, see how it can handle near 24/7 printing and how it maintains consistency.
This is a quality upgrade for creality. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on one of these.
