Mark, i've subscribed to your channel several years ago and it became my main source of information to plan my vacations, I really like the way you perceive all the culture and unique aspects of every country! I'm Brazilian and I really like seeing how much you love Brasil! If you ever come to Fortaleza, on Ceara at northeast Brazil I would love to meet you!
I was gonna comment that some of these might be regional, cause either I don't know them or I barely remember. But you did it in detail, so I'm just here to support your comment.
Absolutely fascinating. You should do one of those videos for every country you visit where gestures are an important part of communicating. The thumb through the fist gesture made me laugh--in Russia, it's a rude, albeit juvenile, way of saying "you are getting nothing from me," a rude version of American "bupkis" Next time you are in Russia, Mark, and see someone in a conversation switch from words to flicking the side of their neck with the middle finger while describing.a person, it's their semi-polite way of saying that that person is an alcoholic. In England, it is hilarious that the V sign (raised middle and index fingers raised in a V shape) have very different meanings: palm forward means "peace" or "victory," back of the hand forward is very, very rude (on par or worse than middle finger).
I live about 20 minutes south of Jericoacoara, so I hope to meet you on one of your trips. My Brazilian 2nd. mother takes her right finger to her eye and pulls down the eye lid when she doesn't believe something. One of my claim to fame is that since I started to come to Brazil when I was 10, I can communicate with natives more with body language (aka steve martin, robin williams) then any small amount of language that I know. I am able to get non-English speakers to understand and even laugh. 😎
Mark…why doesn’t it cost so much to fly to Brasil? It doesn’t seem to matter how far in advance I look, the prices are almost twice the amount of the amount required to fly to Europe.
the ok sign is horrible and no one really uses it indeed but the ear things is just NOT a thing here😂😂😂 never ever have i seen someone do that while eating
Why are there no videos about Thailand on your channel? I just visited Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Bangkok and especially the islands, were one of the greatest places I ever visited (food, weather, friendliness etc). I checked your channel for content about these places and was disappointed. Please visit the places and accordingly upload some videos 😀 Greetings from Germany
I'm Brazilian and this is really accurate! Love the video!! 🤍

I'm from Fortaleza and I would say just the same. 😃
My husband is Brazilian. He does all of these things.
Brilliant. Brazil's tourist board should have this on their website!!

1:00 what does the right-side up OK sign mean? Is it just as bad / means the same thing? Less common or same?
Hey Mark, awesome video
Hi Mark. The fingers crossed is also for luck here, it's even more obvious or classic.

Interesting video!
In the middle east, The ok sign with circle and sticking three fingers is a threatening gesture it means I'll get you, Mostly done by parents.
Just keep in mind we don't use hand gestures all the time or frequently, you don't need to bother to use them while travelling to mingle
How many clips of your family eating BBQ do you have? 🤣
The fist on the head for stupid is to represent someone putting an ice cream cone there :)
Hey Mark. Let us know when you come to Vitória-ES.
Hahahaha the 0 with the finger is horrible! That means different subjects but they all are bad.

❤❤❤
I never, ever use hand gestures in other countries, 'cuz you never know what they mean in different countries.
Interesting, the “I don’t care” looks a lot like “whatever” in American Sign Language.
It kinda needs to be an upside down OK
Corno is in Italian too, I know it’s not for cheating though.
Today I learned Brazilian Portuguese is just sign language
the ok sign is horrible and no one really uses it indeed but the ear things is just NOT a thing here😂😂😂 never ever have i seen someone do that while eating
