    That commercial was great, first time I've seen it.

    Aliens is my favorite.

      I collected mostly Dark Horse comics in the 90s.

      Any you'd recommend? I know they are mostly all Aliens based rather than the original (space marines, multiple Xenomorphs, less horror/space). I'm not that into having the alien fight predator or Robocop but I do have Superman vs. Aliens (harmless fun), Alien: Earth Angel (not good) and Alien: The Original Screenplay (also not good).

      @@SonofCapwolf I like all the comics in the first Aliens Epic Collection (extension of the movie you don't like). I also like Stronghold (by John Arcudi, not sure of your opinion of him). I've also read the novels and played all the games.

      @ John Arcudi wrote an ok Infinity Watch story (#34-35) and then the Fightbolts reboot of Thunderbolts that lives in infamy. I maybe should review the Infinity one but there’s 3 issues of set-up across the series I’d feel the need to do first.

    Never read this. I read the novelization years ago. I’ll have to track this down 🏴‍☠️

      Grab some Nik Naks too. They're available in two flavours - Nice 'n' Spicy (Hot Sauce flavour) and Rib 'n' Saucy (BBQ flavour). They used to do Scampi 'n' Lemon but people complained that it was smelly and it stunk too much so they stopped making it.

    I don’t think a director’s later stuff, when he’s elderly and likely senile, should reflect too much on his career as a whole. Hitchcock made Family Plot, after all. I’ve hated all the recent Scorsese garbage they heap praise on but it doesn’t make me think less of the early stuff. I’m not a Scott fanboy by any stretch, but he did do more a few more good films than the two you listed. Gladiator obviously. I like The Martian. Legend has its appeal. But more misses than hits so yeah he wouldn’t make my top 20 or anything.

      It has nothing to do with his age, he was going to Alien with an axe back in 1979, he was changing Blade Runner as early as he could. He lucked out into a brilliant film like Alien and didn't leave it be and bask in the glory of everything having been done so perfectly by everyone else that he looked like the auteur. He had to keep removing parts because "it slows it down", he couldn't even settle on an ending to the story or the deaths for half the characters even after they were filmed. He is a very dense man, not very intelligent, he has always been a moron and you can see that from any promotional material, any interview, any commentary, anything whenever he opens his mouth to talk about his movies or things correlating to movies. But he says so with authority and esteem because he thinks he's very very clever and smart. His brother was a big dummy too but he was content in his ignorance whereas Ridley Scott thinks he's smarter than everyone else because he made Alien and Blade Runner. Just ignore that all he has really done to them is make them worse, when they were first made and whenever he's allowed access to change them in any way later. Him being an embarrassing old man whinging about "millennians" and nobody seeing his movies was inevitable because he was already a whinging stupid man back in 1979.

      How recent is the recent Scorsese garbage? Last one I liked was Shutter Island but I will freely admit I have cracked more than a few out to the one that starts with Margot Robbie in lingerie.

      With that said, cinema is in a worse state than comics.

      @@robert2430 I turned the Irishman off. All I remember is that de-aged De Niro looked like John Goodman and there was a bit where he flubbed a line and they just left it in the movie. It was also outrageously dull. I might see last one one day, that Brendan Fraser is a funny guy!

    I will never forgive Ridley Scott for ruining the “space jockey” , reducing it down to what he thought was a space suit, it was actually meant to be part of the ship.

    • @SonofCapwolf
      @SonofCapwolf  22 дні тому +1

      The wonder of something like the space jockey was that we had this great big visual and we knew nothing about it beyond seeing it and therefore it could be anything in our minds. He came back and made it into something and worse; something unimaginative and whimperingly unexciting.

      Leslie Nielsen because the parody advert is like something straight from Airplane?
      Third brother of the Oasis twins (they're not twins)? H.R. Gallagher?
      Really struggling here!

    "Ridley Scott Is The Worst Thing To Happen to Alien"
    So you would have prefered to see Roger Corman produce O'Bannon's script as "Star Beast" then?

    • @SonofCapwolf
      @SonofCapwolf  22 дні тому

      Yes because Roger Corman was not a very loud idiot faking his way to the top by pretending he's the genius when riding the coattails of everyone else's labours.
