Keeping good grease in your 800r or 600 skidoo's engine is the easiest way to prevent an expensive failure. 800s are known for burning the grease out of the pto side bearing causing premature failure. Left unchecked the grease is only rated for ~3000 miles. - Авто та транспорт

I used ratchet straps on the clutch and my trailer to stabilize the clutch while I broke it loose. Dino’s Garage showed us this nifty trick. The water trick is also really nice.

How to pull primary from a BRP mechanic
1 take out bolt put in puller
2get 24mm socket and 18in breaker bar and stock primary holder
3 place holder on clutch and use secondary helix as brace for the handle
4 tighten till it comes off or feels supper tight similar to 89ft lbs tightening but little more
5 if 4 failed to remove the clutch grab hammer (3lbs ish) and hit end of puller this will shock the clutch and most times send it flying off the machine. You may need a really good wack.
6 if it still won't listen get a 24 wrench and try to tighten it as you hit the puller

Straight up helpful video. Wasn't aware it was that easy to get at the crank bearing for a regrease, I just turned over 8k and it's never been done I need to pull it in the shop and do this. I wonder if the jackshaft bearing can be regreased or if you have to buy a new one, that'll be my next vid search. Thanks and Cheers!
I just replaced my clutch side jackshaft bearing today, it was easy and the bearing was cheap. I did put better grease in the new bearing before installation. Just cut the old bearing off with a grinder and tapped the new one in place with a block of wood. It seats when it's all the way on. Good luck

This is what I've been needing to do too my 08 800r, thanks for making a tutorial, I'm gonna do this too my sled when i get the top end rebuilt, i have the XP chassis and was wondering if my XP will have a grease fitting?
I’ve never seen them with a grease fitting!

One wrap of electrical tape
Tip up the sled add water. Then puller, off it comes
Way easier and those things are solid pretty much built to last on stock motor
Yeah they do okay. I haven’t seen a lot of them blow up.
Is it true that a 2015 800 etec has oil lines that keep the crank bearings on the mag and pto ends lubed and isoflex regreasing is not necessary?

@@bobbyrebussini1466 makes sense, it was nice doing it with a tube and syringe pumping it in slowly and then watching it come out the front so you could actually see that the back bearing was greased as well. But all good things come to an end ha ha Ha, glad I came across your channel thank you.
So is a 2007 Ski Doo different? Another channel (Better than Bought) show a grease type fitting on the PTO side of a 2007. Do the 2008-2016 not have them. I’m no mechanic so appreciate your videos

I just bought 800 etec 2016 with 3000 miles really thinking if I should do the same ... also did u reuse the plastic seal that u popped form the bearing or got a new one ? I was gonna buy all the but my local dealer thinks it’s waste of time ... we’ll I don’t wanna have a premature rebuild ... thanks
This sled had 10k miles on it. I ended up getting covid so i was bored and rebuilt the whole thing. I have a video on that.
I reuse the seal almost every single time. If that seal is blown out not only will you notice it, but you would have bigger problems!
Also do some forum searching i run shell aero 22 for like 23 bucks same stuff

The water meathod is much more force than the puller. I also thought the puller would work better but they don’t.
Agreed. I get scared of snapping the puller. So much thread friction. Those pullers suck

Yes it does!
If you do regular maintenance your machine is going to reward with trouble free riding. I have an 03 Mxz x 800r with 7000km on it and it’s never been rebuilt and both cylinders are at 137 lbs compression which is really good. Runs and looks great.

You have an 800, not the 800R. That started with the PTEK....
@@ss0073 No I don’t it’s an X package 800r and it’s A 121 not a 120 as people keep telling me. I know what I ride. My machine is number 67 of the first rev run. Gary from mud brats thinks it’s a 120 as well. That machine was a spring special back then that’s what makes it what it is.

Took me less effort pulling off a clutch if you u just use some bar to pry it off

15 - 20mL of Iso?! My manual says 50 total. 40 on the front and 10 between the two PTO side bearings. I've got the crank case apart so I can get the rear side of the first bearing.
My manual, for the 800 etec, says 19ml on PTO and 5ml on MAG side
How did you put the seal back in?
Never removed it
Just pushed it back in. Easy

just push it back on with the shaft lubed up! goes on easy.
@@bobbyrebussini1466 mine didnt have the stock retainer. I did get one from mcb had to drill and tap holes but I got the new seal in and used a little rtv then put the retainer on.

It usually just pops into place once you start torquing the screws down on the retainer plate... but if it's not gonna fit, you might have the wrong seal, or the wrong plate...
@@bobbyrebussini1466 hi I have a 2011 mxz 600 carb. I did my crank seal and didn't have a retainer so i pressed it in with a socket. Haven't road it yet but wanna make sure it does leak. I sprayed starting fluid around their and rpms didn't change. Anything else I can do to make sure it isn't leaking?
Problem is you are only getting one bearing. There’s more than one.

The secondary clutch? You don’t really need to. You can pull the clutch with the belt on
You do know that your never supposed to put an impact on the end of a crank, right? Now you're crank shaft needs to be at least inspected, possibly straightened
I check the runout it’s good. I don’t know how else you’d get that thing out. Have you ever dammaged a crank with an impact?
Theres a clutch holder you can buy.. you hold the clutch with it while you use hand tools to run that bolt out, and while you torque that bolt when you put it back on... I think it's like 60 or 80 ft lbs... cant remember...
But yes... I have run cranks out of phase with the impact... because I never knew about this....
I dont know if you've ever looked realm close at a crank, but everything is pressed together... it's not one piece... and it's not bolted together either... so when you hit it with the impact, all tour weights can move around... you can easily change the position of your connecting rods, you can even make the stroke of one piston longer than the other...
Look up clutch tools on ebay or amazon...
I would also advise you to go online, or to your local dealer and get a shop manual. Not an owners owner's manual, but a shop manual.... these things weigh 500 lbs and make as much HP as an older Honda civic...
There are a lot of do's and don'ts that I never even imagined in the shop manual....
Also, whenever I do a top end, or any work to the engine really, I like to pull it out, and just put it on the bench... I tear it right down...
You do it enough times, ya get pretty good at it!

I use a ratchet strap and wrap it around the primary and anchor it to to the running boards.

@@bobbyrebussini1466 Hahaha! When they Ski-doo debuted the 850 motor they talked about its oil injected crank bearings like it was a new invention or something.
Real sleds don't need to service main bearings, wouldn't take that junk past the mailbox, #Thewayout
