    Is there a way to do this by hand? My jewel is not in too bad condition but could use some restoring and want to save some cash by not having to get all the tools and etc. Also another question, is there a good way to polish the rest of the plastic of the console? I got some different marks, scufs and scrathes, some more genereal scratches or cuts, some with a white marking, it's on a black console btw.

    As a consistent user of 3M headlight restoration kits, this is brilliant and can be applied to many other projects as well.
    Excellent video! Cheers buddy!

      Does the compound it comes with work well.?

      Thanks I appreciate the comment. If you don't mind me asking, what other uses have you found for the Headlight Restoration System? I've had lots of ideas of things to try it on but honestly I'm pretty busy so finding the time for "side projects" is difficult.

      @@timusforlife I know the compound works well for headlights as I've seen it in action. I would imagine if your Jewel is beat up and you use just the compound that comes with the 3M kit that it would still end up being a night and day difference but maybe not quite as shiny as using the Meguiar's compound then polish. Next time I'm working on a GameCube for a customer ( I may have one in my work queue) I will try using just the 3M compound and post the results on my Twitter account. I will update the description here with that link for folks to check out.

      @@dragonshoardgaming5514I did both and I think the meguirs compound is slightly better. That could be just me justifying spending the extra 13 bucks for it tho haha

    Nicely done. I would add that if you're doing this with a corded drill, be careful. Those things can spin at much higher RPM than your typical cordless drill and it's pretty easy to burn up to plastic, even with water, if you're not careful.

      I appreciate your input. I'm working on putting together some additional info that I will list in the description to answer some of the oddball questions I've been getting both here and on my other social media accounts and will add this to that. As per the instructions that come with the 3M Headlight Restoration System it suggests that you supply a "Standard household drill (1200-1600 MAX RPM)". Thanks for watching!

    • @TheGameBench
      @TheGameBench 2 роки тому

      Sure thing. And if you're putting together some additional info, another thing I think might be worth mentioning is that this doesn't always work. Later on it seems they cut some corners, and rather than having the logo inside the plexi, the print it on top, so doing this will sand the logo right off. Thus far, I've only see it on later models.

    can I apply this method to fat shiny ps3?

    • @dragonshoardgaming5514
      @dragonshoardgaming5514  2 роки тому +2

      I honestly have not tried this on a console. The issue I could see with this is the PS3 has a thin clear coat (hence the shininess) so if you're doing anything other than just buffing you'd be removing this thin clear coat. I do however still want to try it on a ruffed up console and see the results. If I have any luck with this maybe it will be a future video. 👍

    I was wondering what you think about fixing gamecube shells, I can’t find anyone out there talking about fixing up scratches and nasty dents in shells asides from sanding it down to repaint. Which I don’t want to do so have been assuming just no one does that out of common sense as it may ruin the value further?
