DES ANGES ET DES NIDS | EPISODE 4 : La science des anges

Aux côtés de l’université de Montpellier (UMR Marbec), l’équipe d’Andromède Océanologie cherche à mieux comprendre la biologie du requin ange de mer commun. Quatre requins ont été aperçus en plongée, dont trois ont été marqués avec une balise Argos. Cette dernière fournit des paramètres physiques importants pour connaître leurs mouvements et leur mode de vie. Plus on en connaîtra sur cette espèce, plus on sera capable de sensibiliser le grand public, mais aussi les pêcheurs. En effet, cette espèce n’est pour l’instant pas protégée (en 2023) par le droit Français bien qu’inscrite dans différentes conventions internationales (Bonn, Berne, OSPAR, Barcelone) limitant son exploitation.. Grâce à la sensibilisation, les pêcheurs relâchent l’ange de mer et participent à leur marquage.
ANGELSHARKS AND PICAREL’S BREEDING GROUNDS | EPISODE 4: The science of angelsharks
Alongside the university of Montpellier (Marbec lab), the Andromède Océanologie team is searching to understand Angel shark’s biology. Four sharks have been spotted while diving, three of which have been tagged with an Argos tag. This tag provides important physical parameters that allow an understanding of Angelsharks’s movements and way of life. The more we know about this species, the more we can raise public awareness, but also fishermen’s consciousness. Indeed, this species is not protected for the moment (in 2023) by French law although it is included in various international conventions (Bonn, Bern, OSPAR, Barcelona) limiting its exploitation. Thanks to awareness-raising initiatives, fishermen release angelsharks and participate to tagging.
