Another awesome video. Questions: What do you do with your boat(s) when the weather gets bad? You can't keep those at your dock, can you? You must be storing the bay boat somewhere else anyway, right? Finally, a suggestion: Could you do a video on bait -- I know you've touched on it a few times, but I'd like an episode on different baits, different methods of catching bait, types of nets, throwing the net, etc - kind of a "bait 101" video. Thanks again for the great content.

Outboard motors are very Relyable these days. One engine has worked fine for me for 20+ years. The simplicity is great! I don’t venture out in seas more then two feet and I’m not running to The Bahamas etc. I run a 24’ Aquasport to and past the reef to 800’ of water all the time. Watch the weather and have all safety gear ready to go first. Maintence is the key and running that motor regularly is another huge factor. Motors that sit have problems and it doesn’t matter how many are on the back of any given boat it’s all relative. utilizing marine fuel is also critical as regular gas collects water causes expansion and causes issue all along the way no matter how many motors one may have. Great Video as always!

You hit on it right away. If you do regular maintenance on your engine, I would bet the single greatest cause of breakdowns is fuel contamination/clogged filters. If your boat (most) only has one fuel tank, two engines isn't going to make much diiference.
No surprise that if you think the hybrid bay boats (something I'm taking a hard look at for my first FL boat) are the answer to most boating purposes, then your single engine solution also makes sense.
Up in the northern lakes single engines are the rule, but out idea of going offshore is a lot different unless your on the great lakes.
    Thanks for the videos.

Was out last week out of P'cola (10 miles out in 2-4 ftrs and my buddy sucked 100yds of braid in the prop. Got the line out, shut that motor down (proactive in case the seal was compromised)and preceeded to fish and limp home on 1 motor. 2 motors are definitely nice to have.

You knocked it out of the park with this one Clay! There are so many valid and critical points you make well that will serve new and even tenured old salts like me well.... I recommend folks save this video as a reference to refer to. My family and I are absolutely hooked on your ( you and Stephanie’s) channel and this outstanding video shows why... you are way more than an amazingly entertaining channel.... you share very solid boating and fishing information. I grew up in Miami and am retired on the beach in Oregon and yes.... I am addicted to boats. I always need a deep V hull with twin engines to run out for albacore in often stout seas... hence your logic! Stellar segment... thanks Clay! 👍

After flying over 40 years in the military and commercial sectors, I can easily answer this question: the more, the better! Fortunately, I only flew single engine aircraft for a couple years, but I ALWAYS felt safer when flying aircraft that had at least 2 engines. Same goes for boats: the more, the better. I'd rather buy a used, well-maintained twin-engine boat I could afford, than a brand new boat with only one engine. Yes, bad gas is always a consideration, but that's a low percentage potential problem. And now being a bit older, I think the multiple engine boat is even more of a no-brainer. Combine that with MUCH easier docking and we've got a winner. Thanks for another amazing, informative video.

Love my twin 115 Yamaha's...makes docking easier and when going offshore a good insurance policy even though I have boat U.S. towing policy. That said if you have a fuel issue probably both engines will go down hence the towing policy which is cheap if you need it but so far haven't needed it. Twins make going to Bahamas less stressful!

I didn't put much thought into this until I got a twin engine boat, but a lot of twin engine boats can't plane on one engine because they just lost half of their horsepower, so they will get you home, but it is freaking slow. If a triple engine boat loses an engine, then it's only lost 1/3 of its power, so it will still get on plane and get you home a lot quicker.
