Count your blessings on wiring! In my days working in communications, I have had to wire plenty of police cruisers. All the options one had to mount as well as all of the radios could really drive one crazy, bad enough we have been driven crazy as one of Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children. Keep with it!

@@SplitBuilds I believe! I've watched a few SEMA build videos. Yours is definitely of the quality necessary. If not this year, then do a new build that's just slightly over the top for next year! There's 2 types of military mechanics. The ones that hang parts, and the kind that dive deep. You have never just "hung parts".
Got some critics in the comments and none are needed. You are definitely doing a fantastic job. You are tackling wiring troubleshooting on video, nearly no one else does this. You should be applauded for sharing. Keep it up, you are doing awesome 😎 also any metal armor is just cool My 1123 has none to speak of.

As far as 12 minutes 14 seconds into the video, the steel plates that are going on either side of the bed next time you sand that use some Chem Prime or Ospho to oxidize the rust, then use some type of Steel sealer or rust inhibitor, let dry completely, and then prime over that then do your paint three coats and your clearcoat then after that I would use some type of thin, conveyor, material or thin type industrial rubber as a barrier to go up under the plate between that and the bed you’re going to screw it do to keep vibration and scratching down to a minimum

Forgot to mention, rust will be back anyway, best to do what you can though. Only true way to get rid of it is sandblast, epoxy prime, and paint it, or blast and powder coat them.

You should've sand blasted it it would take all that rough surface rust off and then you can fill it with bondo to smooth it out

I'm not sure, so don't quote me, but I think the reason why this button light switch did not work on your previous M998 because it requires another electronic module that only came with newer model trucks (I think A2 and up) that allows you to run all LED lights (and this switch). But anyways, please do some more research about this specific light switch before you fully commit to it because, as I understand, they can be a little tricky to wire and sometimes cause some serious issues.

Do not put any kind of sticky backed sound deadner it will hold moister and rust worse. Since you painted it I would use some rubber washers between them and the body. Other option is to spray raptor liner on the back side it will help with road noise and keep it protected from rust if it gets wet but it might vibrate or wear through the paint. You could do a combo of both. Might be the best route up to you

Push button light switch is a fire waiting to happen and a keyed ignition switch is a box killer. You build 5 Humvee’s and you still don’t get it? I like your stuff other than those 2 items.. lol

Unrelated to the video but I’m trying to install a soft top for my four door conversion which I just bought bows and rails for. I made the assumption it came with the hardware but it didn’t. You don’t by any chance know what screws I need and what that end piece is for the bows?
They do sell a soft top kit which has hardware but I don’t know, always put nut sertz in and come up with your own hardware
How are you going to prevent your battery hold down from arcing with your positive power block?
There’s enough space. That’s all stock Humvee stuff. It doesn’t touch each other.

So you save money except on hardware like those bolts for the windshield .Instead of cutting the bolts you had you purchased shorter ones . And if you do that you spend money on other things as well As for that armor plate who knows you might drive it to Chicago some day and it might save your life . 9mm better than nothing

WARNING WARNING WARNING!!!!!!!!!
Do yourself a huge favor and throw that push button light switch away!!!!! they have a very nasty habit of randomly shorting out and burning your humvee to the ground. They were discontinued by the military and went back to the 3 lever switch for this reason.
A lot of them are installed. The 1st gen ones are junk. It has to be all LED lighting and has to be grounded correctly. They work good though.
To me, this part of your build needs to go slow. Electrical is a bear.
