We here in NZ have a summer xmas and yes we had a lovely day. With about 7 chefs and cooks that came it all went off lovely. Lovely to catch up with you watching your video. I have bought peanut plants, Egyptian walking onions, and new tomato varieties, so lots to look forward to in autumn.

Seed vs sets is a real game changer.
I think it's down to the variety that works in your area. For me it's Red Ruby, however Red of Florence bulbed up nicely last year because I had too much to harvest...and they kept fab.

I usually give mine a good scoop of fish, blood and bone in the planting hole before going out then they'll get a liquid feed at various times throughout the year. 👍🌱👍

A lot of compost and a lot of money I hear you say. I split the with two friends down the allotment, reducing the cost to just over £8 each. Given that buying a 10 ltr bag is £10 the Levington represents great value for money and you get a far superior product

Someone recommended a Levington seed compost in the comments and always keen to give new things a try. Just need to find a local stockist and will see if its any good or not.
Wishing you all the very best for 2025 and a great growing season ahead 👍🍾🥳👍

I planted Radar and another but I can’t remember how to spell it onion the name begins Shen I bought some bulbs and planted them the end of October and they are growing nicely never tried onion seeds though. I have a few bags of red barons chopped in the freezer that grew in 2024.

I've not done Rada before Steve, will be interested to see how they work out for you.
Was it Senshyu you planted? They're the over wintering Japanese variety. I've got some of them on the go as well but they're pretty small at the moment. Hoping they'll pick up once the weather improves.

Peat free compost is not always the same, one day it's good then the next bag is not so good why?

JB did a great video on this earlier in the year when he went to visit Melcourt, the company who make Sylvagrow, well worth a watch.
