I'm using the Peco N scale turntable with the Locomotech motor connected to a decoder. It operates very smoothly but the problem is, it's hard to line up the tracks spot on as the decoder will slightly over run the exact spot where you need to stop. I would much prefer a setup like this using the turntable's own controller, rather than using my Digitrax controller. Thanks for your video.
I ran a real turntable for 21 years before becoming a conductor and retiring. Top speed of ours was one RPM, so the scale speed of this model is about right. The real ones, however, do not automatically index to the desired track, requiring some back-and-forth work.
Very detailed and informative video...I am a UK modeller looking to build an 'end to end' layout with a facility to turn around small steam locos but was concerned about the reliability of turntables. I will be using Peco code 80 track so your comment regarding compatibility at the end of your video was what I wanted to hear after seeing how accurate this turntable is ! thank you.
Hey Mike I need to make room on my layout for the turntable can you tell me the length of the turntable starting at the feeder track all the way out to the exit track or where the feeder track connects to where exit track connects. Thanks, Mike.
@@N-Scale I received my turntable today. it was very easy to set up. It really adds a new dimension to my layout. I am new to N scale and really like what you can do in a small tabletop space. I have been doing G scale for years but I am switching.
Hi Mike. How are you? Great video. I would like to ask about the polarity of the power supply that article 20-283 must use, since I bought one at auction and did not consider this element. + inside or outside? Thank you very much.
Mike, I have one ordered. I primarily model steam and believe the 6.3" bridge will accommodate my 2-8-0s, 2-8-2s, 4-6-2s and the 4-4-0s, 2-6-0s and 4-6-0s. Too short for GS-4s and EM-1s. ;-)
Great review Mike ! I got mine last week, and intend on installing it on a new layout I'm going to build in the fall. Please do another review on this sometime in the future when you can explain in further detail the features and functionality.
Mike, Great Review, Just one question, when the engine leaves the straight track controlled by the turntable power pack. Will there be a conflict of direction when the engine is taken back over by the main line controller?
***** Once again I will share my experience, whereby there is no need for a reverser to wire this for DCC: As long as all the tracks (stub and as many entrance tracks as you have) are powered ... there is no need for the Kato Green power cord to be connected at all, and therefor the Kato bridge direction lever can stay in the neutral position. The bridge will take its power from whichever track is aligned (regardless of engine direction of travel). The flat ribbon connector controls turntable rotation only. Your DCC throttle will control the engine in normal fashion even when on the bridge with no shorting or need to use the Kato direction lever.
Awesome vid and everything clearly explained. You stated in an earlier reply, one can run it with DCC but not on it.What does this specific means?I had the plan to run my DCC loco´s on the turntable and use the Kato controller for indexing on the different track.
Wow Mike, Kato did it again!! I currently own the Walthers Nscale turntable, and after seeing this video on Kato's, I'm kicking myself for not waiting for this on, not having to drill a hole for the tuntable????what are you kiddin:????? Thanks for the video Mike I think I might be making a switch!
This is EXCELLENT! Love your channel. And you used the perfect loco, an SD90 which are my longest engines, so no problems for me. Thanks again Mike. Great explanation.
Good video Mike, I may get one it's just a little small for my steamers tho. Out of all the track I've used in the last 40 yr's Kato is the best I know it kinda lacks prototypically but the smoothness, easy of assembly it can't be beat right now.

What's the width of the table ?
I do not remember.
That’s a nice Rockford Files ringtone.
Hey Mike I need to make room on my layout for the turntable can you tell me the length of the turntable starting at the feeder track all the way out to the exit track or where the feeder track connects to where exit track connects. Thanks, Mike.
It is about 28 inches from the incoming track to the back of the roundhouse.
Thanks , Mike
Thanks Mike.
No problem buddy.
Mike
Hey Mike I was checking my measurements you said 28 is that HO? I was thinking it would be around 18 for N scale.
Nope , not HO
Just bought one. Not sure if it is a slightly newer version. Can't wait for it to arrive so I can try it out.
You will love it and there is no newer version.
Thanks , Mike

Hi Mike Have no problems putting loco in roundhouse but have no power getting the loco back out onto turntable again
I have no clue. Sorry.

I do not remember either. My table went away some time ago.
Mike
@@N-Scale Ok, thank for you response.Regards
Hey Mike do you have a video on weathering the turntable its hard to deal with all that plain white in the pit.
I have not gotten that far yet.
Thanks , Mike
This table is really slick. Do you have the knowledge on what is involved in hooking it up in DCC?
To run DCC on it there are really no mods. If the table is to be operated by DCC , I have no experience.
Thanks , Mike
Mike, can you show how to wire DCC to the turntable. Thanks
With DCC just hook up the same way as DC. It would likely require a decoder to operate the table movement.
I do not own one.
Thanks , Mike
thank you, I was just wondering how to run a engine with DCC not operate the turntable with DCC.
Thanks , Mike
Did you ever try this turntable with DCC?
No , I didn't

Cool design, that it all fits on top the bench work No big hole to cut.
Much like the rest of the Kato system.
Mike
Wish they'd make an HO scale one.
Whatever.
Sorry for the joke
What does it cost?
fiferhobbysu770.corecommerce.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=19601
Is this large enough for a Hudson, or Mikado in n scale.
Nope , Thanks , Mike
late comment..can you fit 2 f3"s or f7's from kato on it at one time?
Mike, Great Review, Just one question, when the engine leaves the straight track controlled by the turntable power pack. Will there be a conflict of direction when the engine is taken back over by the main line controller?
I would say yes. I think you would need to change it's direction while on or in the turntable area.
Thanks , Mike

What a great turn table ,hope some of the other turn table manufacturers take a good look at it , thanks for the review Mike
Cheers Glynn
Thanks Glynn , It is pretty cool.

+Carsten Alwes That is what I meant. You can run it with DCC but not control it's movement with DCC.
Thanks , Mike
could i sink this into a t-trak module?
Sure , You should be able to.
Mike
How old are you in this video and now
62 Here and almost 71 now.
@@N-Scale wow you are really old when did you start making kato vifeo
@@IIIIIIlllllllIIILLL Well , Thanks , I Guess. I started video's in 2006
Looks to be an easy setup and running table. Good for a beginner.

Thanks Scott. I think it would be a good choice for sure.

do they do a 2-4 unit turn table
I do not know what that means.
Thanks , Mike
meaning the turn table can hold 2-4 locos
I have never seen such a thing.
Thanks , Mike
i'm surprised nothing is available
I am still unclear on what you describe. are you talking about a longer table?
Do you carry it Mike?
I have only one in stock as of a moment ago and none of the extras at the moment.
Thanks Phil, Mike
Thank you.
