Earlier in the year I was looking for a good price on a TR-8 and somehow ended up getting a DFAM instead 🤣🤣🤣 best unintended purchase ever
Whahahaha. Those are the best purchases. Most often it’s the other way around. You buy something and it’s nothing you end up using in the end
Amazing 😂
Yes son. Back to basics. Loving this new harder setup, sounds banging!
100%! Still room for melodics if there’s a need to and plenty of kick butt adrenaline to go around
Another great video! Longtime follower.
Welcome back!
It is fun watching your rig change and evolve over time.
My favorite techno setup is to improvise with a Digitakt running a few pre-selected drum kits (909/808/whatever), with a Mother32 and DFAM patched as a single voice running back into the Digitakt input for effects and compression. Its raw as hell, dirty, loud, and most important it is ABSURDLY fun. If I want anything more there's always another input ;)
Man. This sounds like a ton of fun! I was always to 🐔 💩 but am happy I took the plunge into improv city
That #TR909 / #DFAM combo is fire!
Loved that, thank you
Thanks for watching the video!
Love the full live performance. Those CDJs look good and lonely. Thanks for all the tips man.
Glad you like them! Stay tuned for more!
Awesome sweater ❤❤❤
Grab yours at my shop! analog-kitchen-shop.fourthwall.com/en-eur/products/analog-lollypop
Thanks for all your insights! They are super helpful.
My current setup is a digitakt, tr-s6, Subsequent37, Minilogue XD and Microfreak ... I'm really thinking about adding a DFAM too
You’ve got a killer setup already there! A dfam will defo take it next level, groove wise!
such a genius set up!
It works wonders. Try something similar and let us know!
Another amazing vid Lucien!
I am not really a big Behringer fan but you could get this setup with an RD9, TD3 and Edge new for around €700 which is pretty insane. Of coarse no effects and you would need something to connect everything. You might be able to get by with connecting one of the synths to the return on the RD9 and use a 2 input interface to get into a daw or something. Or just buy a small cheap mixer. Bedroom raves galore!!
Absolutely! It's not the car, it's the driver. Just make sure how your gear handles itself! And you should be able to do what everyone else does convincingly and perfect that
Thanks for this, nice jam, great setup. One things I note, 909 is very hard to balance right with good leveling in a mix. BD is fat, SD is smashing ears, Toms are low ends and fighting the BD, RIM is ultra killer transient, CP is like a slap with reverb, CH is very buffy in low ends and can eat the OH, cymb is hard resonant, CC is CRASH. I like you mixed it quite in back ground and not in front of, as we often hear. 909 is like nitroglycerine 😬
And then I’ve got mine recapped and freshly updated with eeprom v4 and a new power supply. I’ve got a KGB distortion on the kick that can do that ‘90s Hardcore’ kick thing. I know about the levels. Open hat loud as hell. Clap and rim loud as well. It’s so easy to lose balance. I just pace myself with what I send into the room
@@AnalogKitchen I would really appreciate if you do a vid about this KGB. I like the subtle amount of saturation on the 909 BD. It’s come to life with it, transient more rounded, low ends no more boring/flat
Wow didn’t know the dfam was that capable ! Must try it
Highly recommend it!
Another great explanatory video 👍🏻 love it!
Will you perform live at OG Harbour of Lights, too?
Unfortunately I won’t be live there. Wouldn’t have minded it though
@@AnalogKitchen oh well, then we’ll have to enjoy your skills behind the wheels of ‘steel’… don’t mind that either 😎👍🏻
some nice "on the run" vibes from that
The song? Or the movie?
@@AnalogKitchenPink Floyd, the song
Hey AK, you had my head nodding right from the start of the video, so good to see some clips of your gig, sounding sooo gööd. I know what I like when it comes to Techno, this is someone who’s danced on top of the bass bins with Carl Cox just a few feet to my left spinning vinyl at Sankys (was up there for little while until security kindly told me to get down) was a few years ago, probably wouldn’t get away with it now… health & safety!!
P E A C E : )
Wel FUN, I’d make sure you can come and stand on the speakers if I’m performing! Thanks for watching and I’m glad you like it!
🎉
😎
Great video Mr Kitchen cook! Happy NY :)
What is the devicd on the left of the mixer? i thought it might be a sherman filter bank but dont think its that
have a great year - Andy ink 😊
Retrokits RK 008!
Thanks @@AnalogKitchen - not that amazing little gadget but the larger one semi out of camera to the left of your little soundcraft mixer :)
🎉❤😅excellent 😊❤🎉
Thanks bro 😎
Awesome setup. Mind if I ask why you use the drum machines, and not something like the MPC live? curious to your answer. Thank you.
No problem! Well, simply because I don't want to advocate a dawless setup whilst still being in a daw flow. I love my MPC but it's still somewhat of a DAW. And I want to be more live, improv and on the fly
@@AnalogKitchen Thank you for sharing your answer. Awesome channel :)
Are you quantizing the dfam? Amazing instrument but I find it hard to tune well enough to play in tune with other synths .
Honestly, that’s what I love about it. It’s a hard synth to pitch but I needed something like it on my system…
It forces me to think differently and tune stuff on the fly. It’s all more live and inprov
Well you were right , pretty damm good setup.. have you ever checked out the "future retro revolution " I'm pretty sure its supposedly a tb03 clone.. Hard to find but sounds nice..
I've sold mine about 2 years ago... Stupid me....
@AnalogKitchen wow lol it's all good , true music making is making music with what ever you got.. and making it sound awesome . This is what im figuring out every day by trading and buying stuff for the last few yrs.. I have an iridium a virus and a sp 16 , I like "808 state " I love there music especially ther old school stuff.. but I love so may other similar genres too. But definitely such a fun journey it's difficult which is why I love it more .. once I learn something too easy I got to move on to something else.. God bless keep u the awsome lessons 👍🙏
What you think of the Alpha Base by Jomox
I have to check it out! It hasn't crossed paths yet
Dfam is the 909 of this era.
You might have a point there in terms of cool and respect appeal. It’s not a drum computer though.. I think Moog picked the smart modules out of their big rig modular and graced us with a patch of small form factor
Whoa, you can map a separate controller to control buttons on the rk-008? How? I have the rk-008 and I didn’t know that haha
There’s a ‘midi remote channel’ you can set on the RK008 which allows you to trigger recording, part / track record, selection etc. via midi messages 😊
Et voila!
@@AnalogKitchen yay! Man that 008 is a really great bit of kit.
Why the blackbox instead of a elektron digitakt??
Simpler hands on workflow and different functionality
What’s the first intro track..???? Please answer!!!
It’s something I was making on the fly bro. That track only existed there.
Or did you meant the scifi intro? That’s stock UA-cam
@@AnalogKitchen oh man.. I wish you had a studio version of that song you were playing. Great track..
