Excellent interview. PG is really good at this. Asks good questions, and just as importantly, is a great listener . Never interrupts his guests, even if they don’t really answer the question he asked. Basically, he just let Jerry West talk about whatever he wanted to, knowing that whatever it was, it would be interesting to anyone watching. I’m 80 years old, and was lucky to see West, Robertson, Baylor, Wilt, and Russell in their prime. West was way ahead of his time, far more athletic and versatile than the other 2 guards of his era. He played as much forward as he did guard at West Virginia, and like Oscar, was a hell of a rebounder as a guard when he came into the league. He was also a terrific defender. While listed as 6’3 or 6’4, he had the wingspan of a guy 6’7 and could really jump. It took him about 2 years to get his handle right, and once he did that, he was pretty much unstoppable . Combine that with superlative shooting and passing skills, and you’ve got one of the finest all around guards in NBA history. Forget the damn logo. When you’re talking about the top two guards to ever play, he’d rank in the top four or five. Personally, I’d take Jordan, Kobe and Wade as my top three, and West next. His game would easily translate to today , and if he wanted to, he could play the point better than any of the others. Great guy, totally humble, and a truly fabulous player!
Jerry West was my favorite player as far back as 1962 and I've always loved his integrity, his honesty, and of course his greatness. Thank you so much for this podcast. It was like having the opportunity to sit in your living room and just listen to him talk. He's an all-time great as a person, not just a player.
Jerry West is a great student turned teacher to the game. A progressive man who cares truly about player growth and where the league is headed. This podcast is really shedding a lot of light on the pressures of the NBA and what goes on offscreen for every individual player! Thanks PG 🔥
And that's the thing, he's so humble. He is such an Icon and yet he is simple and worries about the expectation on his loved ones from "The Logo". Real G.O.A.T ! 💪
The logo! Amazing conversation. Glad Jerry is still getting that respect from the younger generations. Dude was before my time but always understood his legacy
I’m amazed at how all these players love Mr Jerry West. You can be in awe and respect of someone who is one of the legends, but to see the love across generations that’s because of the relationships and who that legend is as a human being. You hear of how much respect players have for Wilt and Kareem, but it’s another level for Jerry West and Bill Russell; it has to be more than basketball
Jerry West is a excellent role model and representative of the NBA! Role model not just to kids/fans but to players as well. Theres no one better to be the logo to rep the nba, I HOPE THEY NEVER CHANGE THE LOGO!!!
WOW! Thank you so much for doing this interview. I was watching a political interview and stumbled across this. I'm an old lady and when I was a kid Jerry West was my hero. I was saddened at his passing but will always remember him more for being a person who loved people and truly cared about them. Sure, he was a darn good player, but what he contributed to others with his compassion, his honesty, his integrity, and his humility, is golden. RIP Jerry West. ❤🙏 And thank you for being such a good interviewer. I love that you actually listen and let the person you are interviewing complete what they are saying. You have another great talent to add to your resume. 🙂
With all the experiences that he's had, it's so refreshing to see someone who is as humble and insightful as Jerry West. Can only hope to be half the man he is, what an inspiration

I’m 80 years old, and was lucky to see West, Robertson, Baylor, Wilt, and Russell in their prime. West was way ahead of his time, far more athletic and versatile than the other 2 guards of his era. He played as much forward as he did guard at West Virginia, and like Oscar, was a hell
of a rebounder as a guard when he came into the league.
Bros old
Jerry west is a legend. Honestly by far the best podcast on this channel
Jerry West is a great student turned teacher to the game. A progressive man who cares truly about player growth and where the league is headed. This podcast is really shedding a lot of light on the pressures of the NBA and what goes on offscreen for every individual player! Thanks PG 🔥
It's incredible how silent everyone was while Jerry spoke. Must have been truly humbling to be in his presence
Unbelievable pod. Refreshing to see todays players showing respect to the legends of the past.
Jerry West is a excellent role model and representative of the NBA! Role model not just to kids/fans but to players as well. Theres no one better to be the logo to rep the nba, I HOPE THEY NEVER CHANGE THE LOGO!!!
The Logo. All the wisdom in the world.
A true legend👍
And thank you for being such a good interviewer. I love that you actually listen and let the person you are interviewing complete what they are saying. You have another great talent to add to your resume. 🙂
honestly the best episode yet. west has so much wisdom to share and you can tell he's a great man. nice stuff fellas
Jerry is Hoops royalty. i’m so gracious that he opened up on the pod bc he has a wealth of knowledge & experience to share
Whole podcast felt like a life lesson it was great listening to jerry speak
Jerry West is the epitome of a Gentleman. The level of respect he’s earned is admirable.
We need more of this legend while he is still with us, we never know when we might lose these legends.
With all the experiences that he's had, it's so refreshing to see someone who is as humble and insightful as Jerry West. Can only hope to be half the man he is, what an inspiration
Rest in power icon. Thank you for everything you did for the game of basketball. Glad you were able to still get your flowers while you were alive
It’s insane the talent he’s had on the podcast and he just started !!

Always loved Jerry West interviews. Legend. Seeing him with Kobe always confirms he was closer to 6'5 in shoes.
I know PG will cherish this interview forever. Long Live the legend Jerry West, aka Mr. Clutch, aka the Logo 💜💛🕊️ we thank him for the contribution he has made for the NBA. The heart, mind and soul of basketball. Now he’s up there with all the Laker legends. RIP 😢
This is gonna blow this channel up, a lot of other good shows haven't had the logo on
Really wish the logo got with the knuckleheads.. much better basketball podcast
@@withinyamind I Watch all the basketball podcasts some more than others but I won't discredit getting Jerry MF West on your show so I'm rooting for em all
Then LA connections lol
There's something about paul george's podcast that draws me compared to other NBA players' podcast. The concersation flows just naturally and you can tell that the guests are very comfortable. Can't wait for this episode with the logo. Subscribed!
Damn! Salute to Jerry West for recognizing my country, the Philippines, as the country that surprised them because of how the people love basketball is really captivating 💯
Love you Jerry!! Admire the openness and genuineness that you are so so much. Clippers are so lucky to have him under the hood!!!
R.I.P to the Logo, Mr. Clutch, JERRY WEST you will be missed 🕊🕊🕊🙏🙏🙏
Easily the best basketball podcast with JJ in the mix. Just the way conversations flow works so well.
The way Jerry West talks, and if you want to bring his fire and competiveness in today's game, he would still be the best player.
Man this is the best basketball podcast by farrr. Love hearing from the legends, especially the logo
“It’s a modern world, grow up!” Greatest judge of talent ever!
This is one of the best basketball podcast of all time
Paul George has been my top 3 favorite player to watch since his 2nd year in Indiana… now undoubtedly the best basketball podcast out there. Just pure humble chill basketball talk. Btw PG you got the best hoop shoes out there!
I've been watching 3+ podcasts weekly over the last 5 years or so. This episode is in my all time top 5 ever. Perfect in every way. Outstanding job! I've also been watching the nba since 91, never understood why Jerry was the logo. Now I know.
Thank you so much PG and the team for making this happen before Mr West left us today. RIP legend.
Jerry West on the Podcast is legendary!! This is what being in the NBA and being a good guy gets you! Good work P! Podcast is 🔥btw

not a season finale 😉
RIP to the Logo ....
You were a kind and gentle soul !!
But when you were the most competitive person I've ever been around ... People LITERALLY stepped back.
But even then, you weren't cruel with it !!
You were a treasure !! I'll miss our conversations Sir !!
You were SIMPLY THE BEST !!
jerry shouting out the philippines brings a warmth to my heart (: pinoy pride all time high lol
RIP Jerry West. Thank you Paul for having him on your podcast. Jerry exposed himself more as a person here than any where else. Jerry was really a cool dude.
What a loving and caring person Mr.West is, he has this love for everyone that are good people no matter their skin color or sexuality. He can have friends on the opposite side of his political views as long as they are a good person at heart. Almost like an angel on earth, if everyone was this caring just imagine how nice the world would be?! And dude is 85 and looks 60, i need to know what his diet looks like 😂 i need to grow that old so i can be with my future grandkids and enjoy each other's company.
Had to revisit just to say rip logo thank you for what you have done for the game
It’s a shame how disrespected he’s been in the past few years considering he is one of the greatest figures in Lakers and League history
Yea but it’s way more greater figures that deserve the logo
@@barackosama7603 what player has been impacting the game directly across 6 decades? One the greatest players and greatest executives of all time. He legit the all time leader in finals points and has been responsible for like 4 different dynasties
@@barackosama7603 they can’t really change it to anyone else without paying them though, they’ve never acknowledged West as the logo so they don’t have to pay him and I don’t think they’d get away with changing it to someone else
@@LoganNagol crazy to think that he was drafted 14 years after the league was created and is still involved in it
It’s disgusting how the logo of the league has been treated
