I just pump out the fluid and refill. No need to mess with the gasket. Make sure that breather can move. They seize up then pressure builds up and blows seals.
@@MrLEO1353 I think I spoke to soon. I checked several auto stores and no one had it. So I had to use form a gasket and there's no leaks. But I do have peace of mind knowing there's fresh 80-90 weight gear oil in it.
For anybody that doesn’t have the most mechanical experience fel-pro makes a gasket for the differential so you don’t have to use the black liquid RTV to make your own gasket
I was taught many, many years ago to never over fill as it could blow the piston rings and then start burning oil. I always try to be a (hair) below the full mark. I NEVER go by the exact amount and go by the dipstick as sludge might be built up on the oil pan. The older the vehicle the more insenstent I will go by the dipstick. And when going to an oil change place they ALWAYS OVERFILL it, ALWAYS.

Exelente video Maestro! Gracias por compartir tu conocimiento, haré ese mantenimiento a mi camioneta.
just a thought... doesn't the car on ramps interfere with the fill level ?.
It does. But the driveway isn't level. So this is actually closer to level than no ramps.
From Buffalo, N.Y. Hey Pal, thanks for the information. I think when I do mine I'll buy a gasket for that pumpkin. Thanks again.
Who makes a gasket for this "pumpkin"?

I also couldn't find a single part. It's why I used make a gasket in the video.

Also stock up on brake cleaner if you’re in Canada. Banned as of 2024
I can still get it in Ontario. @@justinmckee2256

The oil capacity on my 09 Escape is 1.15 L according to my owners manual. The level should be within 1/2- 9/16 " below the fill plug..

I'm not positive but in my experience a rear differential does not have any pistons.

Any idea why the capacity for the 09 Escape Hybrid is 1.4L and 1.15L for the Non-hybrid version?
80w 90 for the Mazda tribute 2004 as well?
I believe so yes.
do they sell a gasket for it or do you have to use the permatex black????
They might but I've never had the good luck with them on differentials.
Good video. Thanks for this.
Good work
