Greatest arm ever but unfortunately the poster child for entitlement. All that talent but a dbag through and through. He was hated even as a high schooler. He got hurt during a game with Purdue his freshman year and his mom ran on the field to comfort him. He transfered to Illinois after not being able to handle the crap he got from Purdue fans about being such a mommy's boy.
Growing up in the 90s as a Raiders fan I was obviously a huge Jeff George fan too. I remember styling my throwing motion to emulate his side arm slings in pop warner, man I threw a lot of interceptions. Great times.
Saw Jeff George play in person several times and the guy had a cannon for an arm. Effortless looking flicks were his 50 yd throws, his 60 and 70 yard bombs were thrown like missiles head high.. no ‘lobs’ in his arsenal. He was an amazing talent and an extremely accurate passer
The throw at 5:00 is absurd and the throw right after that is mind blowing. He flicks his wrist and - WHILE FLATFOOTED - throws an absolute dart. Unreal arm talent.
I didn’t really pay much attention to this guy when he was actually playing, but now that I’m able to really look, he had an incredible arm. His touch on the ball was awesome, too. He makes it look effortless the way he flips that ball 60 yards down the field. Pretty remarkable. Big hothead, though. That’s what I remember.
The only thing is half the time only made one or two good throws the entire game. Sometimes he would go several games without making any good throws...😓

He was kind of ahead of his time. He thrived in the Run-N-Shoot which was basically what most teams run nowadays. The Mahomes comparisons are valid, even thought the guy wasn't mobile at all, but the ability to throw from any platform and make any throw on the field should be appreciated. Sadly, he clashed with coaches and was never on a contender.

However, the more talented you are…the more lazy and unprofessional you become. It’s true for half of us so im not going to pile on Jeff George. George seemed to generate the most amount of velocity with the least amount of effort. Bradshaw, Elway, Favre, Vick, Rodgers could all launch it, but none in the effortless way that George did. Marino still has the fastest delivery I've ever seen, but he didn't have the downfield velocity on the ball that George did.
Besides having a cannon for an arm, George also had great mechanics -legs, hip movement, back, shoulder. He could put it all together like no other QB.
Just never had the coaches he needed in his early career is Success came late in his career it's a shame that he didn't have coaching staff he needed in Indianapolis

Jeff George had some moments with the Vikings pairing with the explosive Randy Moss and the great Cris Carter. If George had had the brains to stay with the Vikings (who had rehabbed his image a bit), he could have gone to a Super Bowl.

the weird thing is, I've read that Marino actually did really bad on the Wunderlich. Usually, a terrible score is telling, but not the case with Marino. George mostly just seemed to have problems getting along with coaches and maybe getting widespread respect from teammates. It's a shame b/c he has one of the alltime great arms.

Warren Moon in a close 2nd, & Fran Tarkenton as my 3rd string QB.
Dude got blackballed after Schottenheimer cut him midseason in 2001 as a scapegoat for the Redskins bad start. He could at least be a backup somewhere but only got signed in emergency third string situation the rest of his career.

The one year he was here with the Vikings he didn't cause any problems at all, teammates loved him. So I think he had worked out his issues by then.
