  • My hero academia's anime had people in a chokehold, becoming one of the most mainstream shows there had ever been. Sadly, it has been on a steady decline for the past couple of years.
Could Bones salvage their mistakes with the remaining two seasons? Idk, I ain't a time traveller.

If they don't spend lot of budget for non Canon movies maybe the quality of the season anime will be higher... now they're working on both S7 and Movie 4. From season 5 almost the quality dropped. Meanwhile Mob Psycho got a lot of budget and all 3 seasons are peak. Less movies more budget for season, Bones is constantly decaying.

I feel like s1 was great, but the problem was not just the animation, it felt like nothing of note except the all might vs afo fight happened in s2.3,4, and first half of 5 I get world building and all but if felt like filler. You could cut out most of the training arcs and do a demon slayer style short training arc, and maybe a 4 episode world building small arc going over quirk erasing bullets without overhaul.
So s1, short training arc, afo vs allmight, 2nd half of s5 in like 3 seasons instead of 5
at the end of the day It's a coming of age story, but It's been 6 years since s1, and 8 years for Shonen jump manga readers, most people who were the target audience when it came out are in their early 20s, not really the target audience any more.
I mean when someone's doing school and work and the animation and story are both mid, going nowhere, and it's based in a high school setting your probably going to drop it
And if a younger person is going to get into anime and watch something older they are going to watch cowboy bebop, soul eater, death note or something better
It came out when I was in early high school (the manga came out when I was in middle school), and now I'm almost graduating collage
The reason one piece works is because there's people of all ages on the crew and it's about freedom not coming of age, also not a high school
The reason Naruto and dragon ball worked, and still in a smaller degree work in the form of boruto and super is because the characters grew older, had kids and everything,
Think how these shows grew with their audience young kids (og naruto and dragon ball), then teenagers (late dragon ball, Shippuden), then highschoolers/young adults (dbz, late Shippuden), then adults with kids (cell ark and onwards, watching your kid grow, fight the bad guy, a show you can watch with your kid) and the characters grew with you, Deku is still a kid,
if they shortened the time he was in highschool and had him right now a struggling hero that graduated or that is currently in hero collage or whatever that would be relatable, not a highschooler who can't go to school because terrorist attacks that's not really the same thing as growing out of highschool
Take black butler, a show that is getting a new season after 10 years this anime season, I highly doubt it will do well (I may eat my words), it's not new, and the people who watched it at the time don't care anymore, also it's going to take place in a school, you may find some die hard fans but that's such a niche crowd
and I get that it's not as bad as black butler, but if they don't wrap up the anime this season or within the next year or two I think it's going to become more and more noticeable

The take on the overhaul arc is complete garbage but the rest is true.
The underground of the Shie Hassaikai is bright and clinical because they are no low budged street gangsters.
They have a well set facility in their hideout that works on the same level as any other official laboratory.
It is clean, bright and grey because that's how laboratories look like. I don't need a dimly lit ally to tell me how to feel about the guy who PTSDed a five year old into absolute submission and it makes zero sence for Overhaul to go "I know we are a laboratory with the plan to upscale to a drug factory, AND I am a guy with a cleaning bug - but maybe we should make it a little dirtier in here and dim the lights for the evil mood, you know."
Season 5+ is true tho. Pacing went down the drain and the focus is put on really weird things, while the cartoony level of gore is more funny than adding tension to anything. Either your characters get severely hurt or the dont - just making an entire food red and giving the sking a scraggly line doesn't feel like a wound, it feels like a child imagination of what a bad wound looks like - just an upscaled scab.
I think they need to find the internal direction again where they want to go with the series - more cartoony fun shounen where wounds are blood under the hairline, or the shift to the more gruesome manga wounds but then going all the way with it and not this weird inbetween with red scraggly lines on everyone.

Realistically speaking, yes, it does hold the facility look of a laboratory, however in movies/anime/shows colour is extremly important to the tone. Having everything be extremly bright, cartoony even, removes some of the tension it could have had. Even in real life, go inside of an almost empty hospital, It's unsettling, it's dim in places, the walls aren't perfectly clean(this can very well be due to my country, tbh :D).
But as I mentioned, It's not the biggest offender, it's the biggest thing that struck out when comparing it to everything elese. And to be honest, I think this problem stuck out more to me after S5 and onwards, seeing as how they kept on making everything more cartoony and abandoning the more gritty artstyle of the manga. I can't remember, since it has been years that I saw S4 for the first time, but I don't remember having as big a problem with the hideout as now due to the hindsight of later scenes/seasons.

It’s just too long. It’s dragged out just to make more cash, and any art that prioritizes money over the craft is always doomed to fail.

While I can agree with you on some occasions(the MCU, Star wars, Rick and Morty, etc.), if the art can proved a good reason to keep going, the fact that it's long isn't really that big of an issue, like one piece for example.

@@yorginsta2751 One Piece is literally a prime example of a cash grab that prioritized money over the story. There are literally several arcs that are so boring, redundant or just completely unnecessary.
