I was born in 1955, so was a teenager when impossibly romantic and seductive music like this was everywhere, especially movies. My dad had quite a few LP (long play vinyl records) in the house which I played all the time. This music set an impossibly high standard for what love and romance would feel like when I finally grew up. And one album cover had a gorgeous brunette, sitting in a seductive (for the 60s) pose, wearing nothing but gobs of thick whipping cream, licking a bit off of a long finger nail! It was terrifyingly exciting to think life would feel like all this. This song brings all those deep, subconscious yet visceral memories back to me.... WHERE'D I PUT THAT DAMN WHIPPING CREAM?!

Spiralling breakdown at 1 AM. Vibing dreamily in a hot bath. Drawing, studying, doing homework. Cooking. Ice skating. Skateboarding. everything. she can literally do it all (edit -- @Biron James also suggested: "rowing a gondola in Venice" and @James222 suggested: "secret agent's maintenance of his weaponry", both very fitting!!)
This is why I love You Tube, the opportunity to discover music & artists that otherwise you would never be exposed to. For decades we were at the mercy of record labels, music press, radio DJs and their playlists, TV producers and the the record shop owners who decided what to stock. This song just feels... Existential, if you know what I'm trying to say. This song feels unintense, progressive, melancholic, and hopeful. It fits in every situation because it feels you're not necessarily in the situation itself, but watching it unfold as an observer. Like poking your head out the window at midnight, and see a couple fighting, then stopping desperately to calm their crying baby, a person riding their bike through the snow, a person stressfully typing at their computer, and a person committing suicide by jumping off the bridge. You are there, but not really there. You are an omnipresent observer, curiously watching the events unfold like a baby, however tragic or unimportant the events are. Alohaaaaaa from Hawaii. Just got in from work not too long ago, took a warm shower, and now sitting here in my big comfy chair with a mug of hot chocolate and listening to this music with all the lights out and staring out the window....hey, there’s a full moon tonight....it’s huge, it seems so close that I can reach out and touch it with my bare hands.....ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. I am truly blessed.....thank YOU, GOD.
I’d like a cafe that just plays this guy’s music all day. Such deeply soothing, lovely music. And a reminder to everyone: Calm down. Recalibrate. Be mindful.
I was 7 years old when I heard this in 1969. I remember the song well. Even then I thought it was a very tender song that was befitting the end of an era. That era was the late 1950's and the 1960's decade. We tucked that era away, gently, tenderly and thankful for the feel good, mesmerizing and sweet times it gave us in our movies, our music and in our American culture. I remember also using this tune as the accompaniment to television commercials that featured aged Hollywood movie stars from the 1930's and 1940's whose career's were barely flickering anymore, and in whose eyes their twilight had become less visible. This was their theme, too, and it played as they walked away from us, up to a very green grassy low hill, and once at the top, turned around and waived goodbye, smiled and descended the hill, in the sunset and left us for ever.
Brings back childhood memories🙏. ...always loved "Mary's Theme". Somethin about Cipriani and Morricone's arrangements that makes one feel spiritual and free? Mssterful comps indeed❤
Some time ago I got this song recommended to me, and the. I listened to the album, and then listened to 70's italian songs soudtracks. Now I'm a stelvio ciprianni fan

I made two other comments on this video, one from two years ago and the other from one years ago. Three comments is the turning point, I guess. It has now become a yearly log. Listening while eating an extremely early breakfast. The sun hasn't risen. Everyone in my house is asleep. And here I am already being fused by intensely emotional music. I think I'll be creative today, knowing no one in the comments cares. Hope you all have a good day. See you next year, or maybe I'll reply if, by some miracle, you see this and respond.
I got curious why you were specifically up early that day? If you even remember.. I rarely wake up early myself, but your comment is tempting me to wake up early some day so, if i am lucky, i stumble upon such great music
@@SirSidi Huh, that's funny. I think it could've been because I stayed up all night, and, since I have insomnia, I just had to power through the day, y'know. But it isn't that bad. This is music for 2 people who've been communicating over a long distance for a considerable period of time -- for their first "hello" face-to-face.
Oh my god I just pictured that in my head, it sounds amazing :)
@@annaboni8476 -- Thank you. Sometimes, long-distance relationships work.
Perfect! Yes, long distance relationships can work.
Suitable interpretation. I agree!
They only work when they become short-distance soon after.
60s 70s Italian movies had the BEST MUSIC and gorgeous I mean dropped actresses!!!! The men also were strikingly handsome... Loved those Italian movies!
Yet they’re banned in cultural shithole known as North America.
Yes, Monica Vitti my favorite. Also Loren, Cardinale, Lisi.
True!
@CR055F1RE That's a disservice to plenty of incredible films and performances before 1979.
@CR055F1RE True, there aren't all that many, but just flat out saying everything before 1979 is bad cinema is not true.
The sound of 1970s Italian films.
That’s just wot I was thinking 🤔
and obviously the film is super weird
@@dilanrajapaksha Not weird, but malincholic and disillusioned, like most Italian films of that period.

this song came at the perfect time for me. when she left my life, I didn't know how I'd ever express the pain I felt. but the beauty of this song reminds me of the beauty I saw in her--so thank you, stelvio cipriani for making this lovely song I could pour all of my feelings and memories of her into. This strikes melancholia and nostalgia yet soothing. Exactly like Mary's situation on the movie.

And a reminder to everyone:
Calm down.
Non avrei potuto esprimere meglio!!
I would also like you to listen to maestro Piero Piccioni

I love the orange sofa. Each time I look at it plus listening to this music, I feel like being time warped in the 60s or 70s. Plus the colors around me are changing into that backdraft and vibe.

@Jeremy Tittle Take care of yourself, then. Hope you do well in the future.

I think for the average individual, waking up early is much more beneficial. It promotes healthy habits, and you get to do more stuff in the daytime like finding great music.
