Thank you everyone who has contributed to the channel recently! 12k+ subscribers and climbing! I really appreciate how supportive everyone has been. I can’t wait to build more with you all in the future! Cheers!
Looks beautiful! I never imagined gaging the passage of time in a youtube video by the colour of someone's underwear, but here we are! Hope to see you back! 😃
😂😂 thank you! I have a few videos in the works! Less underwear shots unfortunately haha. I appreciate you watching!
Awesome project man! Loving the stuff you are coming out with. I know a container of Filiberto’s carne asada fries when I see one! 😂💪🤙👍
Hahaha you caught me! Thanks for taking the time to watch Tim. I appreciate it!
One of the benefits of real shiplap is that it allows for expansion and contraction with temperature and moisture changes.
Plywood doesn’t need that though.
@@WoodNerds : I wanted to say .. Thanks for providing this tutorial. The white S.L. contrasting the black really brightens up the bathroom! I like it
Of course! Glad it was helpful! Didn’t turn out too bad! I just upsurge cabinet doors as well. I’ll be posting a video on it in the future.
Looks awesome. I have a 60 inch long vanity with one sink. I wanted to buy a new vanity with two sinks. How long is your vanity? And what size mirrors are those? Thanks!
when taking down the mirror, what if anything was holding the bottom of mirror metal guide to the wall? was it just sitting on top of the vanity?
Hey! There was a thin metal guide that the mirror pivots into. If you watch the first couple seconds of the video it’s there as well as the tabs on top, although the adhesive on the back was really holding it at this point.
Hi 👋🏼 just checked out your video. You rock! 🤘🏽So, after remodeling one bathroom with a contractor $$$, yup, way too much...I opt to do the other bathroom we have myself. Your video inspired me, so I’ll give it a go! Oh, and I really love the fact you posted all your items. I need that cuz I wouldn’t know what to buy. Thank you 😊
Hey! Thanks for watching! I really appreciate the feedback :) it can be really pricey! We are really happy with how it turned out and have more projects ideas like this one to update our house so keep an eye out!
Hey! We got to see Mrs. Nerd! It's funny that you mention your "mistakes" and own them. When I was much younger I worked as a contractor in California. Some of your mistakes border on preferred practices for some home builders and other contractors (man do I have stories). Overall, great look and not overly complicated. Thumbs up!
Thanks Tyler! Lol! Mrs. Nerd! I can’t believe I didn’t think to say that! I like to believe it’s helping others when I do. I make the stupid mistakes and call them out so no one else has to haha.
Call first then paint to prevent yellowing and cracking.
Thanks for the tips James!
This is beautiful! I absolutely love the mirrors and light fixtures! I’m doing this in my master bathroom soon! Great job!
Thank you Dusty! Good luck on your remodel!
Nice trick on the texture. My house has pretty much the same texture and I was thinking there's no way that's spray on.
Thanks man! Yeah, it turned out pretty good. I haven’t seen anywhere online where someone replicates it, so I figured I’d show how I have done it for smaller patchwork.
Have a bathroom that has been in a state of remodel for over a year. Have been wanting to do shiplap, but no one has explained how to keep the spacing consistent. Thank you for your honesty, clear direction, and creativity!
Have been wanting to redo the door and window frames in my bedroom when I redo my room, but am hesitant to take off around window. What do you have tucked away for that project?
Hey Christina, thank you for watching! I don’t really have plans for replacing door/window frames at the moment. I might do baseboards but that will be far in the future since it will go along with changing out the carpet/original tile for new tile in most of my house (a large project I’m not ready for).
@@WoodNerds Well, figured I would ask at least! Have enjoyed your work. Looking forward to seeing what you do with your new home.
I’m glad it’s been helpful. Thank you for watching!
I really liked this. Gave me some good ideas for the bathroom I need to do.
Thanks Gabe! I hope it turns out well!
Ashton Woods your builder?
I’m not sure Mike. When I get home I’ll see if I can find out. You see some similarities? Haha
I just found you and I watched this whole thing! Amazing job!!! I am thinking of redoing my bathroom and I’m definitely taking some good bits from this entire video!
Thanks man! I appreciate it! It was an awesome project that taught me a few things as well. Good luck with your remodel!
Quick question! When mounting the vanity light metal plate, did you just screw it into the ship lap boards? Did you use long screws to try and anchor it in better?
Hey! So the plates mount to the light box in the wall. Then the vanity mounts to the plate. I did use longer screws to be able to account for the plywood (shiplap). If you’re using actual shiplap you’ll need longer screws for sure.
Looks a heck of a lot like Las Sendas out there in East Mesa! Excellent job man
Thanks Nyal! AZ houses look so similar!
How do you find the electric wiring behind the wall?
I use a stud finder with the live wire detection! Make sure all your switches are turned on to test. Also, you can screw/nail into studs with wires, you just have to be careful. The wires are ran next to the studs and sometimes run through them in a hole that the builders would have cut. So super long nails/screws wouldn’t be the best thing in those situations. Calculate the thickness of your ship lap, plus your drywall, and I’d say an inch into the stud and you should be good for most installations like this one.
What type of nails did you use to hang the plywood?
Hi Rebecca, they are finish (Brad) nails. They don’t have to be particularly long as the construction adhesive will take over once it dries. Mine are 18 gauge!
This is the definition of @middleclassfancy
Haha I’ll take that as a compliment! Thanks for watching Denny!
How do you know where electricity is located in the wall
Make sure your switches are on (lights, fans, etc...) (breakers as well) and the stud finder I have in the description will locate live wires. Whenever you pass over one it indicates there is electricity.
Did you treat the wood for moisture in the restroom?
Hi cynthia, it’s covered in multiple layers of paint.
