A while back I dropped a video on an old Stihl MS 261 C chainsaw I picked up at the scrap yard, it was missing a bunch of parts and turned out to be burnt out, but being a pro saw I thought it might be a worthwhile project to try to get it going again.
Well months have passed and I've gotten through a slew of stale customer jobs and have had the opportunity to start working on some of the stuff I've hoarded over the last couple years, (lots more of that to come soon) and I thought today would be a good day to try to knock this project off the list.
I ordered a cheap Amazon $60 top end rebuild kit this past summer for this job, and gave it a go in this video. To my surprise it worked out quite well!
Everyone, meet "Mutt" the new Machinesnmetal channel chainsaw!

So now I have it rebuilt finally as I restored a couple sleds from ground up lol
So now my issue is I cant get the throttle to lock with full choke which won't allow it to start it will fire and smoke but won't run.... not sure how to get the throttle to lock wide open with the full choke for initial cold start.
Nice job!
Thank you! Cheers!
@@machinesnmetal 140psi Good compresion 372xp oem?
How did you get the bottom bolt out for the intake manifold? I got the 2 top just can't get the bottom one
I don't remember exactly but it was not difficult, I'd remeber that! 😅
@@machinesnmetal must have used pliers or vice grips
Is it the standard Stihl torx fastener or is it socket head cap Allen key?
@@machinesnmetal it's the t27 torx
i think i remember it was a bit awkward, I removed the carburetor or at least loosened it and bent it upwards, I think I also stretched up a rubber intake boot. This one was done last summer I think. I can't even remember what I had for breakfast.,
Hi do you have the linl for the parts from amazon please
its in the description
Don’t all 261s have compression releases?

@@machinesnmetal It's not 261, all messed up here.
