Toni Morrison Accepts the 2016 MacDowell Medal

On August 14, 2016, author Toni Morrison accepted the Edward MacDowell Medal for outstanding contribution to the arts and American culture. She appeared before a packed Medal Day tent to tell the gathered arts lovers how it was that she became a writer. Opera and festival director Peter Sellars introduced Morrison and MacDowell Chairman Michael Chabon presented the medal.
