      Hook2Cook I keep forgetting to ask. What kinda knife is that you’ve been using for bait and cutting your lines?

      CaliSurfCaster87 it was a gift. But here it is. Comes in different designs and finishes amzn.to/2X3hVaS stays pretty freakin sharp.

    Pretty cool thinking outside of the box!!! Never heard back...we have lot's of goodies to send your way. Especially now that you realize they can bite on more than Gulp Sandworms. Great set-up!

    • @Hook2Cook

      I’ve always known that fish bite more than the sandworm. I actually rarely throw sandworm. I would way rather throw the lucky craft. Just emailed you back

    I went bass fishing one time and as soon as I took my senko worm out of the water, a bass jumped for it! If only i would have kept it in the water one more second, but I definitely do agree with you! I would not have been able to see that happen if I didn't have my senko in the water at one point!👍

    Ive been fishing for years and have never tried a bait caster. Looks like you can get some good distance in the surf, especially durring low tide. I may have to do some research on them. Thanks for another informative GREAT video. We should meet up and hit the beach soon.

    • @Hook2Cook

      Mario Resendez it really wasn’t very common to use casting gear because saltwater is so corrosive. Companies are getting more and more advanced with sealing their reels! There’s a lot of good options like the curado k series and the 13 fishing a3. I chose the z3 because of a few reviews I saw about casting light lures

  • @BayandBeyondFishing

    Going out to walk up and down the SF piers along Embarcadero for halibuts this weekend. Was thinking of using my baitcaster purely for that reason, time between casts shorten, more time lure spends in the water 👌👌👌
    They’re also funner to cast imo lol

    • @Hook2Cook
      @Hook2Cook  5 років тому

      Bay and Beyond Fishing every second counts my friend! Also the sensitivity imo is unmatched! When you can feel every piece of seaweed drifting by or any little nibble, it’s like having a hair trigger hookset! Thanks for dropping by!

    • @Hook2Cook
      @Hook2Cook  4 роки тому +1

      Not sure. Baitcast reels in the surf are definitely tough to maintain... freshwater, Lews reels have been really good for us in that price range but the concept z is nice too. This one is the z3 in the $250 range

    I’m watching this to learn how to use a baitcaster 😆 … I’ve only used spinning reels and rods my whole life but recently offshore fishing has me wanting to learn…
    Please never cut towards yourself ever again or at least not on camera… no offense it just makes me cringe because I’ve always been taught and teach to always cut away from yourself… always..

      Lol this will make it worse. Not really a fan of the tranx. Own one but backlashes like crazy on a harder cast. Been using baitcasters over a decade too. Look into the 13 fishing a3 or at least a Daiwa lexa.... what will you be using it for mainly?

      I agree, typically they don't but with the technology of this reel, I think it can. My 1 oz carolina rig was launching really far even in the wind. I just may have to try that when I go back for striper in Monterey. Some anchovy on a 1 oz finder rig... should be sweet! It was just too bad the fish weren't wanting to play that day.
