The truth is the only one who can beat magnus is hikaru, and the only one who can beat hikaru is magnus.. These two are so much better than the other GMs in these formats.
@@swarooprajpurohit110 magnus won by considerable margins in 2016 and 2017. While i do think hikaru has improved I still believe last time was a bit of a fluke, and magnus take the rematch
I think that Magnus is the only one left that is capable of beating Hikaru in the SCC time formats. Alireza is gone and Ding didn't participate. By Hikaru's own admission those are the only real threats... Magnus play incredibly here and frankly embarrassed Ian. It's gonna be a good one between the two speed chess goats in the final!
When he's on his vibe he's fucking unbelievable. And he's still only 32. He's probably not peaked yet. The young guys are booked to the gills with prep and are tactical monsters but he just blind sides them with sub optimal moves to get them out of prep and then his supernatural feel for the game takes over. I mean, Jesus, Nepo is a super GM. Do we need an "End Boss" GM category as well?!
Game #1 - There is nothing wrong with Ian starting with the Petrov Defense, yet, when Ian makes the questionable move, Ian, Hess, and Bok were sure that Magnus was going to play bxn. Now, Ian, Hess, and Boc have super rating, yet Magnus answers with something none of them saw, bxp check. Wow! ...by Bok.
idk if this is the best example in Magnus' favor tbh... lol... not only did he lose the game as white from a significantly better position, but the move that hess and bok were suggesting was actually stronger than the move played by magnus. i think the "Wow!" by bok was more an exclamation of surprise that carlsen didn't play Bxf6 with a better position, and not of awe that he found a stronger move than they expected.
Would be super cool to have the symbols popping up for mistakes, blunders, great moves etc. etc. I’m not good enough to know what’s what but I enjoy watching the titans go heads up.
Even if 2021 didnt happen he would been demolished either way, dude sucks in the SCC. From the last 3 he either got eliminated first round or didnt qualify
Dominating and Magnus didn't even feel he played that well. Truth is at his best no one can beat him. Not at his best and still very difficult to beat.
Wesley So will have this revenge here. The Ronaldo of the Chess World vs the Messi of the Chess World. Hikaru being Neymar is also a great fun to watch. This is gonna be an all-out war to the end. 🧠🫀
@@Hunterhoneypackglazer1 It's a matter of playing styles, but if you look at how the other GMs saw it, Wesley So's accuracy is insane that they admit that he's the only one that is closest to the accuracy of a computer. In terms of greatness, I think he's on par with Hikaru and Magnus. He's got a good standing against those top guys.
@@sammy_trix What planet were you living in? Wesley's record in bullet vs Carlsen before their match was 22 losses, 2 draws, 0 wins. That's two draws better than where I'd be if I played 24 bullet games vs Carlsen. That's not to take away from Wesley, obviously he's one of the best players in the world both classically and in rapid chess. But when Magnus and Hikaru are on form they are just head and shoulders above everyone else in the SCC format. With that in mind it's not super surprising Wesley ended up losing 22-7, which isn't that far off from the 20.5-9.5 in this match between Magnus and Nepo. I think if you keep in mind Magnus one move blundered a couple games while not in time trouble in this match (basically just free wins for Nepo) and didn't vs Wesley, the results in the two matches were pretty similar. Carlsen's in really good form right now and the prediction he made about the match up with Wesley in this video's interview were spot on.
@@das6109 Yeah you're right. But really I am still living on the planet earth. However, it is really hard to beat Magnus Carlsen when you have two tournaments side by side. He's the closest to Magnus. Hikaru is also great. These three guys always had good battles against each other, and these three can defeat each other. Wesley did defeat Hikaru many times, and he defeated Magnus as well. Hikaru also won against Wesley and so does Magnus who won so many against them. So these guys are top of the food chain.
@@sammy_trix I feel like the results are quite a bit closer between them in Classical. Then Blitz and Rapid are definitely closer results than Bullet. I know Wesley gave Hikaru a really good fight one SCC (I think 2020?), but I'm not sure if that was just a bad day for Hikaru. By that logic we can say MVL is in a top 3 player for SCC because he knocked out Carlsen one year. I think the reality is closer to SCC having Hikaru and Carlsen as the clear favorites in basically any match up, and then there's some awesome people in the rung below them which includes So, MVL, and Alireza who on the right day can beat one of them. It'll be interesting to see what the match score is between Magnus and So next time they clash in SCC.
Magnus on Wesley: The match will be close if he's not tilted.
