Follow these steps if you are not able to reset your brake pad warning light on your BMW after replacement of the brake pad sensor.
This has to be the best information. No one else mentions that when discussing the reset. Thanks for the help

worked on G20. thank you. replaced the wire with aftermarket one and tried to reset but i got reset unsuccessful warning. then i have found your video. it worked like charm. no one explains the door and parking brake tip on videos except you. thank you bro

I have been Battling this for the last 2 hours, even went to bmw and purchased a genuine sensor to make sure it wasn't the aftermarket sensor I purchased at fault and still wouldn't reset.... your video worked a treat, many thanks

@@harput9745 Newer model BMWs do not have a brake reset unless the sensor is tripped when worn down.
@@AskTheCarExperts it’s a 2021 740 so how does the brake light reset?
@@harput9745 You would have to trip the light by putting in a sensor with an open circuit or use a scan tool to reset. If you have not warning for brakes you can just ignore any reset for now.
Game changer. Literally just wasted 15 minutes of my life watching some dude rewire his sensors to get rid of the light. Wish everything was this simple 🙌🏾

Replaced pads and sensor and Did everything you suggested but mine still wont reset the front brake pad warning light! Any tip? Thanks.
Sorry to hear that. Make sure the sensor is fully seated at the connector. You could test out the system by jumping the pins to each other on the harness side. The system is looking for a closed circuit. When the sensor is worn it breaks the internal contact and trips the light. If you jump out the connector body side to each other and it still will not reset the issue is in the wiring before this connection.

Hello, if the sensor is worn through setting the brakes due light the sensor will need to be replaced. Often they break when removed anyway.

Will this help if my brake is stuck? I had the auto hold on, came to a stop and now the brake it’s screeching on one side. Brakes are new as well.
Hello, Sorry to hear you have an issue with your vehicle. This would be reset the service indicator. It may be that you have a stuck caliper or the brake installation was not correct. I would inspect the vehicle and disassemble the brakes to find the failure.
@@AskTheCarExperts it ended up being an object or something was stuck. After a few hours the noise went away and the car is fine. Going to take it tomorrow to have the brake checked though.

This is common now on newer BMW's. If the sensor is not tripped there will be no reset option. If you do your brakes pre-emptively you can cut the sensor and cause the light to come on then reset. Or disregard any reset until you get a warning due to time and then reset again. Or you would need a high end scan tool like the autel to do the reset electronically.

Yeah i got stuck with this too, then only realised when looking for the issue that the parking brake was on DOH.

If the brakes are not due then the option does not show any more. You will have to wait for the warning to come on or unplug the sensor to make the warning cone on. Then it can be reset.

@kz.obaidur Sorry to hear that. The issue may be a bad sensor. The system has to see a complete circuit and the sensor cannot be reused. Aftermarket sensors sometimes ate the issue as well. Or there is an issue in the wiring.

So I have a 2017 330e and it’s still saying unsuccessful. Front brake pads are terrible
Hello, It will not reset unless the sensorn is replaced. If it still does not reset then you need to reset it using a scan tool.

It works on F10?
Correct, if the E brake is on it will prevent the reset. But if you have a bad sensor or the sensor is worn and not replaced you also will not be able to reset the warning.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GAS IN THE CAR! Could not reset because low gas warning light
LOL Yes any check control message that pops up can also prevent resetting. Gas would help in this case :)

The usual reason then would be an issue with the sensor. Either aftermarket or damaged or worn through.
They said my break pad needs to be changed 3mm is this true? And also the light can’t be reset unless they do the work.
Bmw really ain't shit...you have to be McGuyver to fix simple things...still love my car tho 😂

Brake pads.
It should have a reset option, but on some cars, I need to use a scan tool to reset the brake pad warning.
