    Hey titanic mechanic. I also own the same exact truck as you. I have 21,000 miles on my truck & will follow through the journey with you on maintenance. I love your video👍 I hope we all get many miles within the titan community. Thanks.

    Good video. I have a 2023 Pro 4X. I installed the NISMO, full dual, ceramic exhaust and torpedo style air filter kit. Both are from Z1 performance. They are the only ones I could find with Titan stuff. There is a Titan Forum? Too bad we can't get a dipstick for the automatic. B&M made one for the F150, 10 speed I had before this truck, This is the last 1/2 ton , V8 without cylinder de-activation and auto-start- stop BS. Runs great here at altitude with exhaust and filter. No droning good sound. Down near sea level the truck spins the tires easily. 😁

    couple of points, there is a "thermostat" of sorts on the cooling circuit, Nissan calls it a bypass valve. Below 176 degrees the valve mostly bypasses the cooler at 196 full flow to the cooler, it never fully bypasses, thus your low flow.
    the other point the upper hose is the return from the cooler per my 2021 frontier fsm, same transmission. the way the bypass valve works it could backflow slowly thru the "in" or lower port.

    Great video, thanks for the info. My dealership charges 750 to do 3 or 4 drain and fills since they don't have a dedicated exchange machine for the matic p.

    Need a more detailed explanation how to do only a flush/ATF replacement without changing the pan.

    • @dorikh
      @dorikh Місяць тому

      If you flush AT with new oil you'd better replace a filter. 2 filters are mounted on the bottom of an oil pan.

    I just bought a new P4X. This will be on me maintenance list.
    So we need a new pan because the filter is embedded into the pan?

    So i notice he said 38k likely didnt need it.
    So here is my experience 41k same transmission but it's in a 2022 Frontier. I'm, its only driver, it's had easy life no towing. Started slipping at 38 or 39. Last week thought id have to get it towed hardly made it home after its longest drive ever 135 miles.. without stop. My point after transmission heats up its obvious there is issue. Cold transmission perfect. So I've been looking for a dipstick,,,then realized I was the dipstick..there ain't one...wtf?
    After I watched some youtube I figured i would have the dealership service it for 220 bucks. However it only took them about 45 minutes so I'm not sure they did it right. The man on the video clearly went the extra mile. I'm thinking they just topped it of..I don't know I should say.. right?
    They did 3000 miles service, rotation, 32 point inspection..and transmission service in about 45 minutes?
    Yeah runs great now..point is it appears at 30k you should do it,this is a picky transmission. The book says 30k, and why not?

    Any issues using the Valvoline Maxlife ATF in that 9 speed? It doesn't list as meeting Nissan Matic P specs, unlike the Liquimoly

    • @titanicmechanic
      @titanicmechanic  5 місяців тому +4

      The MB236.17 spec is listed on the Maxlife bottle, that is the 9 speed Mercedes spec......any issues, I don't know, but personally I was close to using MaxLife. I owned many VW's in the past and have someBMW friends, so I knew LiquiMolly was top quality, the 1950 bottle says designed specifically for the Mercedes 9 speed and that's what did it for me.....we have the licensed 9 speed from Mercedes, so my assumption is this fluid is a great choice. Who knows who makes Nissan Matic P? If you go to the Nissan Titan forum or Bob is the Oil guys someone analyzed Matic P, and its viscosity was so low the report said does not meet ULV specs. The 1950 is a middle ground between liqauid thin Matic P and Valvoline, and again it is designed for the MB 9 speed.

      I sent the Liqui Moly, Mercedes and matic P fluids to BlackStone labs for analysis. All are very close in chemical makeup. My worry is Nissan denying warranty on a $9,000 transmission. I have driven Nissan trucks for 35 years and on my third Titan. Nissan will do what they can to avoid warranty work. Great job by the way!!!

      @@jeffnash8537 my concern as well, not so much with fluids (especially when they are advertised to meet Matic P spec) but rather that Dorman filter/pan, which by Nissan's account, isn't serviceable.

    • @titanicmechanic
      @titanicmechanic  4 місяці тому +2

      @@slip0n0fallAll good thoughts, the fluids, except for Valvoline, are the same color will Nissan analyze it? One could not know for sure. Also you can get salvaged trans with under 30k miles for about 2800-3500. But for sure its a concern.

    • @titanicmechanic
      @titanicmechanic  4 місяці тому +1

      @@jeffnash8537 Thanks Jeff, the information posted on the Titan forum was excellent, Kudos to you! Honestly with Nissan transmission issues/design/CVT, now outright licensing a trans from Mercedes, I personally feel more comfortable with the Liqui Moly who works with Mercedes and BMW routinely, and as your Blackstone report noted the MaticP did not even seem to meet standard ULV specs........so all in all, I think Nissan probably got it wrong, but valid point on the warranties for sure! The Matic P appears to be a very thin fluid and it makes one wonder if that is what is causing Owner's to report odd shifting/etc. LiquiMoly 1800 which is recommended for Matic P is "thicker" on the specs, compared to 1950, so who knows....it's all odd.
