I personally liked it, so I will recommend you to watch it. There might be few comedy scenes in between but it's genre is mainly action, adventure, virtual reality, romance, harem. In case you don't know about plot, it is about many people (I don't remember exact number, it was 10000 or 100000 something) who entered into a world of a game called "Sword Art Online". They used nerve gear which is a device through which the players can control their Avatar just like they control themselves in real life. Their body just lies on bed and they can't feel anything (in the real world ofc). The players soon noticed that their log out button is missing and then an announcement was made by the game developer (Akihiko kayaba, sorry if it's wrong spelling) that it is a feature of this game and if players wants to exit the game, they must defeat 100 boss monsters, each located on 1 floor (in a dungeon). If the players die in this virtual world, then the nerve gear will destroy their brain in real world, hence killing them. The story follows the protagonist named Kazuto Kirigaya (nick name, used in the game, Kirito) and his adventures.
