I know you’re trying to keep this at an hour. And I’m sure you have things to do. But I would like this podcast to be a bit longer. Even if it just ends in rambling about what you just talked about 10 minutes ago. Extend it a bit my dudes.
I think you guys made some great points but I have to disagree about crossplay. Back in Bo4 on pc after maybe 4 months it was nearly impossible to find games of anything that wasn't TDM and even then you'd end up matching with a lot of the same people game after game. If game like cold war didn't have crossplay between pc and consoles it would be nearly impossible to find matches on pc today
since going to uni and graduating and now working full time as an RN, ive become such filthy casual to cod. i used to grind game battles and play zombies all day and night, but i love this podcast bc it feels like my 2 buds just talking about casual stuff i would talk to my friends about. im out of the loop on a lot of whats going on now in cod but this pod is sooo good pls keep it up. great podcast imma be here every episode! also my idea for a side mission episode is to rank perk jingle songs lmao, could be fun
Yo I also turned casual after life stuff. I love this pod for the exact same reason. Just listening to them makes me remember why I like call of duty so much. It’s a good time. 🎉
To me call of duty started getting sweaty on mw2019, idk what type of matchmaking they added but it made it tiring having to try every game. Bo2 by far was a perfect example of good matchmaking. Also that’s why ranked play should be added to a call of duty off the start. If you wanted to sweat go play ranked and if u want casual play then play regular multiplayer. There were even times where I seen the same people getting matched together on demolition. So we all knew who we were up against. it was fun competition I still remember this one guy and me budded heads all the time 😂 his name was along the lines of Demoniks which was ironic we somewhat had the same username. People that played demolition all the time on bo2 almost always recognized each other.
Really good podcast ep! I think the overarching thing I'd remove from cod is the blatant greed(at the player's expense). I'm talking DMZ bonus effects in bundles, the new mwiii multiplayer skin that has bonus xp, no crew in zombies cuz they just gotta showcase the new teletubby skins(cuz gotta advertise everywhere right?), mastery camos brought back and locked behind a massive paywall($100 ww2's gold cheetah camo recently), and the awful UI that encourages buying a bundle faster than playing the game lol You guys kinda talked about Dark Patterns for a section of this episode and that ties into this directly! Btw if you guys want a podcast guest one day, I'd gladly be down
I think there should be some form of connection between the modes(like an overall rank, and a separate gamemode rank), but yeah, they are currently a bit too connected.
Everyone I play with are on console and im on pc so i propose a different way. Settings: Crossplay: On or Off "Console Name" or "All Consoles" or "All Platforms" the bottom one is a subsetting idk what to call.
I remember i downloaded brawlhalla on my cousins ps5 and played 2 matches of 1v1. The first match i 3 stocked my opponent because i was practically playing at diamond level at that time so the gap was wide, and the next match they put me against a diamond ranked player. The SBMM was wild lmao
i see cross play turning off is a bad idea but making it so console players have they're own que's is okay but if felt like it, they can pull an overwatch and play on pc servers on console only that will fix the problem of cheaters on console but at the same time it also allows people from what ever console to play together
Also in zombies they need to bring back the shield I don't like the armored it's like warzone they can do skins for the shield bring back the gorod krovi shield
That Smash bros/chess analogy was amazing but in those games, everyone has the same goal and its to win. Meanwhile in COD now everyone has their own goal, every match and winning doesnt matter regardless of the reward. I remember the BO2 days with how fun it was playing Demoltion on Nuketown and everyone actually trying and the back and forth from planting and defusing.
I would agree I wouldn’t argue with it being longer. You guys are in my ear buds while I work everyday now. I’d love to see a video where you guys break down the big new features of each game and the pros and cons to them being added.

About Tdawg's tweet about the gingerbread man skin, I'm sorry you got community noted on that skin being a make a wish kid's wish because it clearly was not talking about/demonizing the kid at all. I disagreed with your actual argument but even I could see the community notes were wrong(which probably got people to send you unjustified hate). The reason though I think(and even Chopper brought up partially in this ep) that this was so controversial was because people did complain about it back then. You can go find Dr1ft0r's video covering the make a wish skin and even he talked about how the skin was hated(because of its design being gingerbread). The other thing I'd like to add is that your tweet comes off like "cod has been like aw for 10 years" when in fact aw was just 1 cod among a bunch of pretty grounded ones surrounding it that jumped the gun with silly mtx... bo3 reduced the silly skins but added silly dances, iw removed silly skins and dances, mwr was very very grounded, ww2 was super grounded until the Grim Reaper came out but even it was at least not glowing and shizz. Bo4 ramped up... Point is, cod had an identity that sometimes strayed away from it for more silly stuff. The reason we have more people complaining about theme in modern cods is because this is the 4th year in a row of it! Back then we could brush a single cod off. Now we can't. Notice how we've never gotten another cod like mw19's theme and instead it gets silly either off the bat or 2 months in? That's why it comes off as more of an issue now cuz we don't have any immersive cod games...

I agree on most things but I play cod differently than most people. I'm not a run and gun type. I like being able to think and come up with strategies in SnD. So people in my skills level are slightly better are my favorite games. I could honestly care less about my KD and streaks
I think another thing cod needs to get rid of is seasonal levels man it just brings down cod so much for me and doesn’t get spoke about enough, when I got MW onwards and got max level I literally stopped levelling and playing the game I think levelling guns and camos isn’t enough because the base of the game should be prestige levelling and looking forward to get prestige tokens etc every cod that brings out seasonal levelling system even if it’s good sadly brings the game down quite a bit for me
The issue is firstly the financial incentive to cheat and secondly people are more aware of how to do so. They're selling console cheats at gamestop, you're not escaping the cheaters and hack-accusers that way. I don't like advocacy of removing choice from users. Give people the option to disable matchmaking with PC. Simple as that. That also lets the user opt back in if they'd like to play with someone on PC.
Things that need to get rid of in COD 1- their influencer team 2- their white list 3- their faulty anti cheat What they need 1- lobby admins that bans cheaters like the game Rust 2- an anti cheat where if a player is found cheating, even if they are white listed.. will get banned That's how you save Call of Duty.
My whole thing with SBMM is that if you suck, you suck. No helping that. If you’re godly, you’ll be good no matter who you play. I’ve seen lobbies in older games where everyone was nooby, and even against other noobs, they were still bad. The way it works, as I understand (didn’t play new MW2 or new MW3 so it may have changed) it’s based on your last few games. The issue with that is, if a noob starts in a noob lobby, they may do good for a few games, and the game will see that and then put them against great players anyway. So even in the current system, noobs will get stomped every now and then. I don’t understand why they don’t do this: for the first month of the game, you play against everybody. After a month, the game says hey, you have a 1.4 KD, you’ll play against people in a 1.2-1.6 KD range. To me, that more accurately senses where a players skill level is. Obviously, the real fixes are in 1. Just get good if you suck. 2. Just have arena for competitive play. Simple.
It’s a late question but I hope you guys see this. And it may be a long one. Sorry but stick with me. I know there are lots of support teams for cod now. Raven. Sledgehammer. There was toys for bob. But I wanna know if you think call of duty could benefit from pulling back their scope and budget for one large game like they’ve previously worked on, and divide their budget to allow for slightly smaller scale passion projects. And if they could do this, how do you think the franchise could benefit from it, if at all?
I have no actual proof, but I feel the matches are rigged in-game. There have been several times where I am in a TDM and we are up by 20 kills. Then, everyone on my team just starts shooting peas and we get insta killed and we end up losing by 2 kills. The opposite has also happened. I just got done playing Blops 2 on Plutonium for a couple hours and had a great time. BO1 through Ghosts (after DLC maps) was peak for me. I'm thinking I'm just too old to keep up with all these G-fuel snorting kids now... They also need to get rid of the hundreds of useless of attachments. They always advertise "The most content ever".. the content is all stickers that nobody cares about.
Off the rip, I like crossplay, but think they need to significantly nerf rotational aim assist or completely remove it, aim assist should only be slow down imo. I play both PC and console, I like versing both inputs, cod just needs a competent anti cheat and input based matchmaking more than anything. I would be for console only crossplay if they fully got rid of cronus users, as there are work arounds for them on PS5 so it would barely make a difference removing PC from the pool. I rarely play newer Cods but from my experience I rarely get actual hackers, just nerds with cronus, all the genuine aimbotters are on Warzone since it's free.
💡(Please Read)Two birds with one stone, hear me out. Bring back the classic prestige system and integrate sbmm to that. Sbmm will last during you first 55 ranks until you prestige, allowing you to get use to and better when you are a noob. Once you prestige you show you know the game and can handle yourself when put into a game with anybody. This should also allow the noobs to stay with their own skill as long as they would like.
get rid of wacky skins and bring back factions like co4-bo2 if ur game has no visual identity it will be forgettable for example most of the cods in the past 10 years
I agree there should be Console Only Crossplay, but I don't think it should be forced. By default it should be set to Console Only, but it should prompt you with the option to allow PC Players, and the same would go for PC(Crossplay off by default, but prompted with the option to enable it). I want this mostly for Side Modes. Zombies having Crossplay is only a positive(except for the the game is as unsafe as BO3). Public Zombies Matches should have the option to have Crossplay on/off, but if you are playing in a Private Lobby Crossplay should always be on(same should apply to MP and Warzone as well, since you'd be the one picking the players, so if you invite a cheater it's on you). The UI/Menu is garbage, so you won't get any disagreements from me that it needs to go. That being said, while it's garbage, it really isn't that hard to navigate. Everything you need is on screen, it's just ugly, and distracting. So I can see how someone would be confused, but I feel like if you can't find what you are looking for within 2-3 minutes, then that might just be user error. Heavy SBMM is annoying, but I don't think it needs to go, or be turned down all the way to how it was back in the day. What needs to be done is for you to be able to choose what level of SBMM you want. You need to be able to pick between "Match Me with Players Similar to my Skill Level" & "Match Me with Players of any Skill Level". Of course Normal Vs. Ranked Play should theoretically be these difference options, but it isn't, so a system like this in Normal Matchmaking is a must. Of course I'm not against them turning SBMM down a bit, but I don't think SBMM is the end all be all(I'd personally pick the option to go against anyone). As long as the game is good, then I can have fun(plus I'm mostly a Zombies guy anyways). So I guess what I'm saying is...I agree with Chop. Players have just gotten better, and the larger playerbase(due to gaming increasing, and crossplay)just lends to more skilled and/or knowledgeable players ending up in your lobbies.

Great podcast but i have to disagree on the crossplay bit. I just think we need a better anti cheat and yeah gameplay i get pc has advantages same with controller with aim assist but i think is just the anti cheat. Look at Halo, and Fortnite Crossplay on those games are great but that's just my thoughts. Another benefit for crossplay for someone like me is playing with all my friends without a problem and don't have to save up money for me to change platforms Ps. This is my opinion but I agree on SBMM and Hulu goofy ahh menu keep up the work!

U guys should talk about Makin WZ it's own game & menu & not integrate every call of duty title into it put a set amount of guns & leave it add some new guns every 2 months or so like make the game Like mw19 & it's guns that Era of cod for Wz with 2 different br maps to choose from or leave it like it is & release Wz1 again with all its guns besides vanguard guns make it it's own game aside from the cod we have now & make it like $40 so we have less cheaters Makin free accounts everytime they get banned
What’s even more interesting and pure comedy and you gotta GO digging I mean absolutely go digging in the unearthed archives of the way back machine you would need a full day to get data and intel. People who played cod 1 2 & 3 era when it jumped to consoles and made it focused on 6v6 (I’ve seen a cod 4 dev interview saying cod was once made for pc but had to scale down for consoles *paraphrasing*) The same arguments during the jet pack era are the same arguments when ww2 cod jumped to modern times. The cod cycle is absolutely real and been strong since 2003 lol The argument on the gingerbread skin is poetic because the cod community is just as awful as the Mortal Kombat community with feedback and dev harrassment. It’s just at new levels now a days because legit everything under the sun is mainstream and theirs more things for people to play and do that’s why cod is trying to strong arm the FPS community . The hill I’ll die on is - Cod and BF are the only two shooter worth a damn and they made it that way.
OPERATORS NEED TO GO. I just want to play as regular soliders bo1 did it perfectly. The only cosmetics changes to your character depends on the perks you run like for Ghost you have a ghillie suit and Flak jacket you literally wear a flak jacket. Thus making it identifable on what your enemies are running upon a quick glance.
Crossplay wasnt such an issue aside from the blatant PC AA favor, in MW2019. I no-lifed WZ1, Aim Assist was talked about but a non-factor to MnK players with great aim. WZ2 came out, my PC couldnt play, I watch gameplay, AA starts being INSANELY discussed on the subreddit. a post shows RAA can track speedhackers near-perfect. When i eventually came to WZ2, I couldnt compete with AA until i no-lifed even Harder and i think the OP AA of MW2 trained MnK like rat supersoldiers. We had 1 shot to god-flick because the TTK and AA were so cracked. In the MW3 era, AA was nerfed on launch, and those MnKs are just as sweaty; the skill gap has widened and the *accessibility* has been ruined. Disabling input crossplay wont fix the cheating and is poor alternative to the devs doing their job. Input balance can be had, they lack the priorities to achieve it. AA should have had it's own testing against MnK for averages that Should determine their strength. To a scientific degree.

I just got done playing Blops 2 on Plutonium for a couple hours and had a great time. BO1 through Ghosts (after DLC maps) was peak for me. I'm thinking I'm just too old to keep up with all these G-fuel snorting kids now... They also need to get rid of the hundreds of useless of attachments. They always advertise "The most content ever".. the content is all stickers that nobody cares about.

Off the rip, I like crossplay, but think they need to significantly nerf rotational aim assist or completely remove it, aim assist should only be slow down imo. I play both PC and console, I like versing both inputs, cod just needs a competent anti cheat and input based matchmaking more than anything. I would be for console only crossplay if they fully got rid of cronus users, as there are work arounds for them on PS5 so it would barely make a difference removing PC from the pool. I rarely play newer Cods but from my experience I rarely get actual hackers, just nerds with cronus, all the genuine aimbotters are on Warzone since it's free.
💡(Please Read)Two birds with one stone, hear me out. Bring back the classic prestige system and integrate sbmm to that. Sbmm will last during you first 55 ranks until you prestige, allowing you to get use to and better when you are a noob. Once you prestige you show you know the game and can handle yourself when put into a game with anybody. This should also allow the noobs to stay with their own skill as long as they would like.

get rid of wacky skins and bring back factions like co4-bo2 if ur game has no visual identity it will be forgettable for example most of the cods in the past 10 years

I agree there should be Console Only Crossplay, but I don't think it should be forced.
By default it should be set to Console Only, but it should prompt you with the option to allow PC Players, and the same would go for PC(Crossplay off by default, but prompted with the option to enable it).
I want this mostly for Side Modes.
Zombies having Crossplay is only a positive(except for the the game is as unsafe as BO3).
Public Zombies Matches should have the option to have Crossplay on/off, but if you are playing in a Private Lobby Crossplay should always be on(same should apply to MP and Warzone as well, since you'd be the one picking the players, so if you invite a cheater it's on you).
The UI/Menu is garbage, so you won't get any disagreements from me that it needs to go.
That being said, while it's garbage, it really isn't that hard to navigate.
Everything you need is on screen, it's just ugly, and distracting.
So I can see how someone would be confused, but I feel like if you can't find what you are looking for within 2-3 minutes, then that might just be user error.
Heavy SBMM is annoying, but I don't think it needs to go, or be turned down all the way to how it was back in the day.
What needs to be done is for you to be able to choose what level of SBMM you want.
You need to be able to pick between "Match Me with Players Similar to my Skill Level" & "Match Me with Players of any Skill Level".
Of course Normal Vs. Ranked Play should theoretically be these difference options, but it isn't, so a system like this in Normal Matchmaking is a must.
Of course I'm not against them turning SBMM down a bit, but I don't think SBMM is the end all be all(I'd personally pick the option to go against anyone).
As long as the game is good, then I can have fun(plus I'm mostly a Zombies guy anyways).

Players have just gotten better, and the larger playerbase(due to gaming increasing, and crossplay)just lends to more skilled and/or knowledgeable players ending up in your lobbies.
I love the match me with players of any skill level. But lets be real everyone is gonna select that LOLL

Great podcast but i have to disagree on the crossplay bit. I just think we need a better anti cheat and yeah gameplay i get pc has advantages same with controller with aim assist but i think is just the anti cheat. Look at Halo, and Fortnite Crossplay on those games are great but that's just my thoughts. Another benefit for crossplay for someone like me is playing with all my friends without a problem and don't have to save up money for me to change platforms

OPERATORS NEED TO GO. I just want to play as regular soliders bo1 did it perfectly. The only cosmetics changes to your character depends on the perks you run like for Ghost you have a ghillie suit and Flak jacket you literally wear a flak jacket. Thus making it identifable on what your enemies are running upon a quick glance.

Crossplay wasnt such an issue aside from the blatant PC AA favor, in MW2019. I no-lifed WZ1, Aim Assist was talked about but a non-factor to MnK players with great aim. WZ2 came out, my PC couldnt play, I watch gameplay, AA starts being INSANELY discussed on the subreddit. a post shows RAA can track speedhackers near-perfect. When i eventually came to WZ2, I couldnt compete with AA until i no-lifed even Harder and i think the OP AA of MW2 trained MnK like rat supersoldiers. We had 1 shot to god-flick because the TTK and AA were so cracked. In the MW3 era, AA was nerfed on launch, and those MnKs are just as sweaty; the skill gap has widened and the *accessibility* has been ruined.
Disabling input crossplay wont fix the cheating and is poor alternative to the devs doing their job. Input balance can be had, they lack the priorities to achieve it. AA should have had it's own testing against MnK for averages that Should determine their strength. To a scientific degree.
