@ThatCraftyCorner something a lot of UA-camrs use in their videos, it says technical difficulties with a color grid in the background, some have the old staticky TV background instead
Blocking: Acrylic yarn can be steamed (with steamer or steaming iron) to block it very well, but acrylic can be "killed" (i.e. melt the plastic, creating a nice drapey effect if desired, but maybe not what you want here) if exposed to too much heat, for example putting the iron directly on the piece for a few seconds. Brief touching is okay, in my experience, but your mileage may vary. Pinning it out into the correct shape helps to get it exact, and you want rust proof pins for that. If you think you'll do more blocking in the future, blocking mats are great and you can stick the pins in straight, but you really only need a rug or carpet you can shove the pins into at an angle.
Blocking with natural fibers is a slightly different process, and can handle more heat, but since you work almost 100% in acrylic, I figure you don't need that extra info here.
I use those foam puzzle mats that are made for toddlers (left over from my now 8 year old) I just assumed that they’re cheaper then actual blocking mats with a printed grid.
Thank you for the information! After reading through the comments, I'm leaning towards getting some kind of foam matt. I'll almost definitely need to block other things in future :)
Thank you Thursday. Many of us enjoy your work, and I'm so grateful for it. You're an inspiration. If it wasn't for you, I would have never restarted my crocheting journey after a 7 year hiatus. It's reassuring to know there is a community out there I could fit in. You and SkeinSpider truly make crocheting fun again.
Awesome project and an absolutely well deserved following you have on here and elsewhere. I so love that you included past you telling now/future you to remember how good it feels to gain new subscribers. It's a great example of why I really enjoy watching your videos here, the passion and fun you put into each video shines through and the frustrations and confusing aspects that crop up make it all feel authentic and relatable. I don't know if it has a name, as I kind of made it up while designing pokemon. You just FLO slst across for one row, then turn and work sc over the top of the slst through both loops of the original stitch. Gives nice tight little squares that already look a little bit like crossstitch. It does make for a very stiff fabric though!

omg im so happy for you! you are so creative, totally deserved to reach millions of subs. i am so proud to see how far you go, so happy to be part of this jouney since the chonk saga
For large projects I block it out on my spare bed. Put the item in a dryer for a bit to warm it up. Pin it out straight through into the mattress then heat with your hairdryer or heat gun stretching and adjusting as you go. Allow it to cool while pinned down.
Yeah! I have a futon that gets stabbed with pins for large projects. I cover it with a sleeping bag to protect the cat hair. 🤣 I steamblock with an iron that has a constant steam setting. I bought the iron just for this because I figured it was more utilitarian than a steamer.
Because it’s acrylic, it’s easiest to block it with steam. You can either hang it over like a shower curtain rod or a laundry drying rack and steam it hanging or you can pin it to like an old yoga mat (or just a cheap one if you don’t have one) in the right shape and steam it directly on that. There are pretty cheap little steamers you can get online but I’ve also heard some people say to use the steam function on your iron, just DON’T lay it down on the piece as it will just melt lol
Ha! The background of the project looks like Elmer the rainbow elephant!! A Stunning project, I can’t wait to see it complete. I also love the little snippets of previous videos you’ve put in.

I love your channel! I am a very numbers driven person and your methods are right up my alley! I am a relative beginner and your tips and tricks using math and numbers are great for me to visualize how crochet "works." I have no blocking tools, but my aunt who has much more experience than I do, suggested pinning my project to a towel to maintain the shape and structure that I wanted, so I didn't have to go out and buy a blocking kit for the one project that I needed to block.
You have water, bobbie pins and towels. Wash by hand, spread out on towels and use bobby pins to pin it into shape. Jayda In stitches shows different ways to block, if you are interested.
Tips on blocking without a blocking board, I used leftover craft foam, covered it in clingfilm, then used pins to hold it in place. It was the most sophisticated set up but it worked!
Hey! I block my projects pinning them on top of my bed and using an iron that can steam by stopping a few seconds on each section pretty close to the yarn BUT taking care that the iron doesn't touch the project!!! I found this trick on a few websites and I think its the only and best way to block acrylic yarn because acrylic won't block by just spraying some cold water. I can't even start to imagine how much work this project takes BUT it'll look AMAZING :D

I think, also, in celebration, we should all share how we came across this amazing channel. AH. THAT'S SO EXCITING! Also insanity that you chose to go about the project that way. I figured it would be C2C or maybe sc, but that level is even more dedication than I could muster. (Annnnd, I'm still wrapping my brain around finding out you use dk when I've been thinking it was worsted all these years.) That shirt is adorable! Your quality and dedication in all your projects and videos always impress me. Keep up the amazing work. Cant wait to see you hit 250k next year! :D
This is soo cool! I never knew you could cross stitch on crochet like that! I started crocheting as a cross stitcher so have been wondering how to combine them. Congratulations!
Amazing project!! you are such an inspiration and a great teacher. I have started crocheting watching your you tube videos. Thank you for all the work that you do and making me laugh and learn at the same time 💕
I love love love this idea! ❤❤❤I look forward to Thursday and Sunday because I know you have something amazing in store for us! I have been here since to giant pigeon head!
Amazing! Your ambition always inspires me. For blocking, you could try steam blocking it first just to see how much drape you can get out of it - you don’t even have to pin it for that, just run steam over it and see how it changes the texture of the piece. That might be sufficient! If that doesn’t give you what you need, then moving to pinning it to something (anything, really - you could probably do it to carpet or to sofa cushions) to get really defined squares. And either do the pinning all at once (for time savings) or a batch of blocks at a time (for sanity savings). Whatever you end up doing, try the easiest stuff first and get more complex only if you have to. ☺️ Learn from my mistakes lol.
Hiiiiii congratulations 😃 you inspired me to start crocheting and I bought the wool/yarn today to make my first sweater :) can't wait to see what videos you have planned for the new year❤
You earned that. Remember that rainbow elephant from your etsy that went to Austria? It has been loved dearly.

The level of organization is inspiring. What an awesome project to celebrate an awesome channel! And the live subscriber count is such a nice touch. Can't wait for more!
Thank you! I'll be sure to keep the live subscriber count for part 2! :)
I love this so much! Amazing work!
For the blocking use a steamer and go to bunnings or spotlight and get foam mats and pin it into the shape you want
Yeah I'm thinking foam mats are the solution!
AH. THAT'S SO EXCITING!
Also insanity that you chose to go about the project that way. I figured it would be C2C or maybe sc, but that level is even more dedication than I could muster.
(Annnnd, I'm still wrapping my brain around finding out you use dk when I've been thinking it was worsted all these years.)
That shirt is adorable!
I've only ever bought swag from one UA-cam channel (RIP Unus Annus), but I may just need to make it two because I think I need this shirt! 🤩
This is so epic! Great way to celebrate your milestone.
Hey, Nikki, congrats on getting this far, found you at 26k and got so excited I'd filly found someone from Perth, I love the patterns, would love to meet you one day, all the best to you and Mr. Bones :)

My immediate thought: crochet a cover for the playbutton!😂
But this is wayyyyyyy more special and meaningful to the channel then just a case lol
Congratulations! It looks so fab!
Thank you!
Yay congratulations 🎉🎉👏👏
Thank you! :)
I'm so happy to be part of them! 🎉 I use the big floor foam thing for blocking large things ❤
I'm thinking I need to get me some foam matts!
Keep being awesome! We love you!
Thank you! I will try?
AMAZING. I probably would have done the base in Tunesian Crochet and cursed myself all the way through.
I thought about it! In the end I realised I liked the way the slowest stitches ever looked better than anything faster :)
now i want to do a blanket full of colorful squares
This is soo cool! I never knew you could cross stitch on crochet like that! I started crocheting as a cross stitcher so have been wondering how to combine them. Congratulations!
I've been wanting to combine them for years! It's been a really fun project to finally get to do it.
That is looking amazing
Amazing project!! you are such an inspiration and a great teacher. I have started crocheting watching your you tube videos. Thank you for all the work that you do and making me laugh and learn at the same time 💕
I love that you started crocheting because of the channel! That's awesome :)
And im so excited forbthe shirts!!
You are so talented
I love love love this idea! ❤❤❤I look forward to Thursday and Sunday because I know you have something amazing in store for us! I have been here since to giant pigeon head!
Noooo not the giant pigeon head XD You really have been here the whole time!!
I also agree with these blocking suggestions!
Thank you, this is all terrific advice!
well done been with you from start
You have indeed! And there's plenty more to go :)
I love your pixel art crochet ❤️😍
Thank you :)
"I got a fibre up my nose!" I felt this in my diaphragm as I sneezed in solidarity.
LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE 🤩
Did you ever think of writing a book with all of your patterns. I know I would buy it. I need my patterns on paper to make anything
I've thought about it! I hope to someday do it!
Congrats CK!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 this is amazing!
Thank you!! :)
19:30 very excited fro bugsmas!!!!!!!
Woooo bugsmas!
Poor Rarity XD I cannot for the life of me remember how I found your channel. But I am so glad I did
I'm glad you did too! :)
Congratulations 🎉
Thank you! :)
Blocking such a big thing might be best by nailing it on wood and steam block it….
I love your videos ❤ you’re a power woman ❤❤❤
Lol if I nail it to wood it's staying nailed, but you might be onto something here...
12 by 12 inch foam floor squares and straight pins. to tack piece to foam and alot of time to air dry
Thank you! I may have to procure some of these!
Hiiiiii congratulations 😃 you inspired me to start crocheting and I bought the wool/yarn today to make my first sweater :) can't wait to see what videos you have planned for the new year❤
I love that! We're heading into Summer here, but every Winter I start eyeing off sweater patterns again....
