Thank you for the great info! My friends and I will be visiting Meteora in a couple of weeks (arriving on a Sat around noon, leaving on Mon morning). It sounds like we'll have enough time to visit all the Monasteries. We will have our own car, but are considering purchasing a half day tour so as to not worry about parking. Again, thanks for the video :)

Thank you so much for watching! I'm so happy to hear you found the video helpful. I hope you have a wonderful time visiting in a couple of weeks! Yes, you should have plenty of time to visit all of the monasteries. You might be there early enough in the season where parking won't be as much of an issue, but the tours do make it a lot easier. Watching people parking and trying to back up in the tiny parking lots and on the sides of cliffs made me so anxious!

I hear Greece is a whole lot of walking! Especially up steep inclines and lots of stairs!

That is very true! There is a ton of walking and quite a few hills/stairs. We ate as much as we possibly could on our trip to Greece (the food is incredible), but we actually lost weight, as we were walking so much!

There were also some Greeks among those who came to worship on the feast. They therefore came to Philip from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, Sir, we want to see Jesus,
    .
And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come that the Son of man should be glorified.

Could not disagree more about the choice between Delphi and Meteora. Delphi is a must see. Meteora is pretty cool. Delphi was literally the center of the world in Greek Mythology and built over 2000 years before some Catholics built their monasteries on top of some limestone spires. Don't get me wrong, Meteora is pretty cool, as I said, but you can see similar buildings and architecture in any 1000-year-old Catholic church or monastery in most of Europe. That just leaves the view, which is nice. But, if you have ANY interest in Greek Mythology, you must visit Delphi, and the view there is spectacular also.

Sorry, but they are Greek Orthodox, not Catholics.

@@hedraes My mistake. You are right, of course. I would edit to correct, but that would make your comment seem wrong, so I'll add these errata: Replace the first mention of "Catholic" in my reply with "Greek Orthodox" and replace my second mention of Catholic with "Catholic or Greek Orthodox". I've visited so many old churches, convents, monasteries, cathedrals and basilicas in Europe that it's hard to keep them straight. The architecture and even decoration for the most part is similar during like historical periods between most of the related Christian religions.

Thank you for sharing your perspective! Delphi is indeed an incredible site with profound historical and mythological significance, and I understand why it’s a must-see for many people. My preference for Meteora is based on the unique landscape and the serene atmosphere of the monasteries, which left a lasting impression on me. Ideally, an itinerary that includes both Delphi and Meteora would be perfect, as each offers its own unique experience. For those passionate about Greek mythology, Delphi is certainly a highlight, while Meteora provides a different, but equally captivating, experience. It’s wonderful that we both found places that resonated with us in different ways. 😊
