Wow! I thought I was the only maniac who wiped his bike and shoes down after every ride! I just love looking pro. I can't ride pro but I dam sure can look pro.
I try to clean my drive train every 2-3 commute days (50-75 miles) and it makes it much easier to stay on top of the mess and keep the bike ready to perform when I jump on it. Great advice!
Yes Abdul, I have been in sports since I was a teenager from soccer, tennis, basketball, rugby, and now cycling. The human body is a machine and when cared for will perform well. Cleaning the bike after every ride is simply 'free' maintenance and prolongs the life of the drivetrain.
Mr Eldred you have changed my life I watch your videos religiously I love everything you do, you have helped me so much, one question I have is as a beginner i'm impressed by your consistency and the advice you provide in your videos, please keep up the good work Sir💯
That's great Mark. I was raised to always take care of what you have, so that you can be blessed with more. I like to buy good things once and take care of them and use funds for other things.
My Post Ride Maintenance has stepped up. Just replaced the Entire Drive Train & Shift Levers. My 2007 Veloce Groupo lasted 30 K miles. The original Shimano only 10k because I rode un the Rain and didn't have much of a Maintenance Plan. Luv your Mindset, thanx & B Safe out there.
I do everything you showed in the video. Plus, I hold a rag against the chain where it rolls over the jockey wheels. Both of them - you get both faces of the chain that way. You'd be surprised how much extra gunk you can get out when the chain flexes at those points. Lastly, I always wipe down the rims and tires to check for cracks and bits of glass etc. A clean bike is a fast bike. The power of the mind...
After every ride I inspect and wipe my frame, components and tires and once a month clean up My chain but From now on will wipe chain after every ride! Great advice Boss!
Al Duarte, keeping the chain clean will extend the life of your drivetrain my keeping grit off the chain. It pays off, plus it's much cleaner to deal with when you swap wheels or replace a flat.
Well do my man, love your passion and discipline... have been learning lots from you, please keep it up! and yes please, a video explaining truing the wheels would be excellent. Cheers!
Veloharmony, I have made this a standard practice, thank you! Ancillary question: How often would you recommend lubing the pivot points on the front/rear derailleurs?
Mike welcome to the channel. Glad you found us. You can as a rule lube your pivots maybe once a month, unless you're riding in wet weather, then you want to do that weekly or after every time you wash your bike.
Steph you are welcome. I am glad you found the channel. Enjoy the videos and welcome. I checked out your channel, good job there keep uploading those videos.
Excellent video :-) I take pride on keeping my bikes cleaned :-) I am glad I am not the only one with that kind of passion.. Well done! Ride On1. Razzi. London Canada

Yes sir, i degrease, and lube my drive train after every single ride. Usually the next day, since I am so tired. I dont put my bike away dirty, ever! Im glad im doing these things right. Hey, yes please, I am very curious as to how to true a wheel!!!
I lube my chain after every 10 hrs of riding . I degrease my chain when I wash my bike either after riding in the rain or every 60 days. I clean my chain with a rag after every ride
Thank you, this is exactly what I wanted to know. I do my chain, but the other stuff are great ideas that I've been neglecting. And important to wipe down the frame, the paint on my top tube is all blistered and cracked and I was told that it was from sweat I wasn't cleaning off every ride. How quiet is the Vornado fan?
Another great video. Thanks, Eldred! Question: what is the dilution ratio that you use for that Simple Green solution you use to wipe down the bike frame?
I do the same and every body asks me why i dont break down ! Because it,s called maintenance ! I do it every ride and my stuff and my shamy EVERY RIDE ,LUBE WASH !
hey veloharmony. what is the difference between wet and dry lube? sounds like using the dry one, is the way to go? also, it seems that keeping the chain so clean as you show it, there is no need to lube it? thanks
:) Jeremiah, just start with a degreaser like Zep if it's really gunky. All that kind of stuff doesn't help the chain. The pins need the lube for the rollers that's it. Everything else is jus a dust magnet. Then just keep it up by wiping after every ride and you're good and your drivetrain will look pro. Also us a lube that cleans while you ride and pushes the dust to the outside of the chain. practical bike cleaning after every ride proven with that 2 years old bike. Plus, now I know why you look like in your early 20s :D Kudos!

A long time ago. Just involves more time and with the lube's currently on the market, I have no issues keeping my chain clean.
