  • Dreaming of an easy to use wireless microphone both for smartphone and camera? I do. This Real World Review is my personal experience with the on paper awesome Smartmike+ and the Røde Wireless GO. The idea is great for both systems. But in use it turned out you have to spend more time in editing than expected. For one of the systems ...

Been looking at some reviews. The first one😉 was more or less a hidden ad where the creators didn't reply to anybody, but the makers of SmartMike+ was all over the place (They faked the native iPhone apps mic to sound like a sound file where you do a heavy denoise in an echoey room) 🤘
Then I took a look at another one, where it sounds was really great! Then he said that was his iPhones native mic and then when he used the SmartMike+ it sounded sooo bad xD
I then saw your video and it is perfect since I've been looking to buy the Røde WirelessGo and I already have the Lav+ from them, so this video was again, perfect :)
And that kids, is how I meet your... video 😉

Good review. Thanks. I use the Rode wireless go with my iPhone. And was thinking to get the SmartMike+ as I don’t have to stick anything into the iPhone making it easier to travel and do a quick video on the fly. But I think I’ll stick to the rode wireless go for now.

Thanks! Yes it seems there is a reason for the big guys in the sound industry not using bluetooth based recording mics!

The sound issue you speak of at 4:48... out of interest, do you only get that when you connect the Smartmike+ with one as a receiver and one as a transmitter? Or do you also get that when you use them as standalone mics using the Smartmike+ app? I have the same issue, and it's very frustrating. I seem to be OK if the distance between the transmitter and receiver is very short (say, 2m) but as soon as I get to 4m+ away it's pretty bad. Luckily I realised before I did too much filming on a project, so didn't waste too much time... have just bought some Rode Wireless Go 2 mics so hope I'll have better luck with them.
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience of the Smartmike+ mics... it saved me wasting too much time trying to fix an issue which is probably inherant in the product.

Thanks for the informative video, I was seriously considering the SabineTek SmartMike+ until I saw your video. I was wondering if the range and latency issues have anything to do with the distance between the SmartMike + and the receiver (either mobile device or another SmartMike +) and whether you were recording with the SmartMike+ app? Thanks.

I think something might be wrong with your rode microphone and Boya because rode wireless go and boya does not sound like this. I have few of them and their quality is way better than what I hear from this video.

Usha, maybe you use them through an extra audio device or record in a sound improved rooom. Theese are shot it a room with raw walls giving you a true real life sound. Not an awesome studio sound.

Hi there - great vid! Question: can I use x2 Smartmike+ mics simultaneously connected (via bluetooth) to the SAME smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S20)? I'm a vlogger and doing a live interview on Zoom so I need one mic for me and one mic for the person I'm interviewing. Assuming this is possible, how will we hear any questions that come in from the audience - via the phone's built in speaker? Or via Smartmike+ earpieces? Please help! 🙏

    • @realworldreview3908

Yes, but you end up with one audio channel. Beware of interference.

@@loveartlondon you need to test your set up before doing it. One audio channel means all voices are on one track. Harder to edit.

Hello thank you for The video. :)
I now know that i should buy “røde” instead.
I already Got one smartmike, cause i didnt know that i was suppose to buy two for live teaching.
And yes i also have a lot trouble with The Sound. So annoying.
    Especially because of The Price.
    Can i ask you..
    What should i buy?
I mean do i only need to buy “røde” with The two things in it. Or is there anything Else i need to buy? Some wires to connect or anything ?
I want to teach dancing, live on Google meet and so on ..
Hope you Can clear my mind:)
    Ps are u from DK?

    • @realworldreview3908
      @realworldreview3908  3 роки тому +1

Jup, the smartmike just ... puff! The Røde Go comes with a transmitter and the mic all in one set.
I would invest in the lavalier too but you do not need that unless it will annoy the hell out of you to have e "brick" close to your head.
I dont know google meet but it sounds like you will shoot from a smartphone. In that case you need a cable that will recognise the phone. A TRS to TRRS cable. A røde SC7 cable. Then you should be ready to dance!
PS: Yes, I'm residing in Copenhagen, studio at Østerbro.

@@dk2d254 Well my smat mic has never been used ever due to the lip sync issues and rather high risk of failed takes. So, I would recommend anything else. I prefer the Rode mic with a lavalier. A bit tighter sound in any conditions (I use it outside aldo). And I have never yet experienced ghost sounds on the Rode system.
