Just cause Fox has made bad Fantastic 4 films doesn't mean they gotta give it up, but Fox have three strikes on their Fantastic 4 property, just let them go home. I think the key component the MCU was missing is the F4. Reed, Stark, Banner, and Pym. BOOM You got the smartest smarties in the MCU all together in one room I wanna see that. When the MCU reaches it's end with Thanos in Phase 3, who's better to top Thanos or match him in Phase 4 or 5 than the Skrulls, Annihilus, Doctor Doom, Silver Surfer, or Galactus.
I honestly feel as though Reed Richards is an important part of the Marvel universe, so getting the F4 back would, at the very least, give Marvel more 'toys' to play with in the MCU. Even if they don't immediately bring in the F4, they'd still have Doctor Doom, Silver Surfer, Galactus, Uatu the Watcher, and the Skrulls, all of which could be integrated into the MCU without needing to introduce the F4. Plus, with the Skrulls, Marvel could potentially adapt the Secret Invasion storyline somewhere down the line. Or imagine the Avengers taking on Doctor Doom? So many awesome possibilities.
What if the reason Hawkeye and Black Widow are being so jokey is because Black Widow is on iron mans side but she is actually a double agent for caps side and thats why they're being jokey cause they are on the same side but they have to fight to maintain the illusion that black widow actually is on iron mans side... Just a theory
I actually think it would be better character development for what is actually quite a boring character to have her be on one side and stay on that side. I also want the double agent reveal (because it's been confirmed) to have more punch to it: Widow is a bit too predictable. That being said, I want your theory to come true so that I can be confident this film will have the brilliant tonal balance of Winter Soldier again.
Goodness no... I am a HUGE Marvel fan but... I do not want the heroes cracking jokes all the time during the fights! I want it to actually feel like they are willing to put their live on the line to support their side! I wanted Age of Ultron to be darker, and while I still enjoyed the film, I was disappointed in that aspect. But PLEASE do not put too many jokes in this film! And I know there are gonna be people saying, oh well Marvel movies have always had comedy in them, stop complaining. Yea, but in my opinion, there is a difference between the amount of comedy in something like Winter Soldier, and Iron Man 3. I want Civil War to be more serious than the other films! Just my 2 Cents.

***** I think WB is really the only Major Studio that realizes the FULL POTENTIAL of the comic book world. Disney understands the basics of what it can do on film, but WB not only gets that you don't have to do full adaptations of things, but there is gigantic mythology right on your lap to pick and choose to create a great chemical mixture of sorts for a great comic book film. Sure they failed in a couple movies (e.g. Green Lantern), but in general, they understand what that world they have can do on the big screen and make boatload after boatload of cash while doing it.

I just want to say, Jon Schnepp is an excellent host. So extremely knowledgeable of this material and well-spoken. And the best example - what really caught my attention in this episode - Jon spoke of the "Wachowski brothers", but was mindful enough to calmly correct himself without missing a beat, "Wachowski siblings". The Civil War footage was awesome. The first scene showcasing Cap, Falcon, and Widow working together was bad-ass. The following scenes looked even better.
Didn't this Jason Todd joker bs start because some dude noticed how Jared Leto had a J tattoo on his face and Jason Todd has a J branded on his face in a similar spot in Arkham Knight? First of all a tattoo is not the same thing as a brand, and second of all there aren't even connected or in the same world/storyline!!!

I'm happy that you're finally watching The Flash, Schnepp. It's really great, The lead up to the season finale, and the finale itself were increasingly epic, and The Flash's powers are beautifully portrayed. You really get the sense of a young Barry Allen growing more accustomed to using his powers as he races to avert one city threatening disaster after another. Grant really kills it acting as Allen, forced to make such incredibly hard choices. Can't wait till season two starts! The big bad villain for season two was announced at Comic-Con to be Hunter Zolomon(Zoom!)!
Unless Civil War will have a runtime of 4+ hours, there's just no way it's going to be a satisfactory film. John Woo's Hard Boiled is the most epic shoot out film of all time.
Thanks for discussing V for Vendetta. Not a lot of people even know it's a comic adaptation. It's one of the better ones when it comes to the storytelling of ideas and revolutions has its sacrifices. :)

I absolutely LOVE the robin is the joker theory. Love it. Robin isn't a kid anyway, he's not the sidekick of the comics, he's a grown man. Therefore why not have have him be joker. Awesome idea.
I don't think Josh Trank gets all the blame but certainly from what I'm hearing it was his inability to work in the studio system that caused Fox to step in to "fix" the film. Certainly whatever Fox did to "fix" the film totally failed but the fact they thought they had to do it in the first place despite them trying to shrug off the stigma that they like to micro-manage people's films suggests to me Trank's version wasn't very good to begin with. Sure it might have been better than what we got but doesn't make it any better.
I feel the chase scene between T'Challa and Bucky Barnes could be the fact that T'Challa is after Bucky Barnes since he could be responsible for T'Chaka's murder.
I would love the Fantastic four to go back to Marvel. But many people forget its not just the fantastic four that Fox have the rights to its also a HUGE amount of characters that started in the Fantastic Four comics. For those that read the Infinity Gauntlet lets not forget the Silver Surfer and Dr. Doom played big roles in that. But because the surfer and the Doc were from the Fantastic Four comics, Fox has the rights to them, and they will not appear in the Infinity movie that Marvel will be making. Its not just about the 4 its the hundreds of other characters that went with that contract to Fox. Characters that the MCU need to have in their movies ( well maybe not " need " but would be best :D ).
I've never head of him before, but Lenny B, Robinson was a true hero. I agree that Deadpool is a very popular character & by word of mouth alone, his popularity is expanding everyday. So if his movie is done right, it more than likely will be a blockbuster.
Hard Boiled is some of the greatest art ever, totally blew my mind and still does. I met Darrow at San Diego Comicon years ago and saw the original poster-sized pencil pages for Big Guy, just incredible. His concept artwork for Matrix is amazing too. All about the intense detail. Would love to see a movie of Hard Boiled by Woo or Miller!

In addition to to the other clues, I think it's possible that Jason Todd is the new Joker because in the trailer you see Harley talking to the Joker in the car but you never see the Joker in the car. It's possible that that scene is a flashback with Batman on the back of the car after "killing" Jason Todd. Then the Joker gets killed somehow but as he's dying he's laughing because he knows what will happen to Jason Todd and that he still wins.
Is Red Skull going to be involved whatsoever or disguised as anyone In Civil War? I wonder if Cap is going to be sucked into the cosmic cube by Red Skull instead of being assassinated and Doctor Strange pulls him out in time to lead the fight against Thanos in the Infinity Wars...
Stop everything! (Unless you're on the toilet, then you have my permission to continue.) Here's an idea for the end of Captain America: Civil War. Let's say the film makers don't go with the Cap being killed idea, but, instead, they go with Cap being imprisoned, or exiled, and later, at the start of Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet Part 1, Tony Stark and co think, "Er...We need Cap!" and he's released or comes back with the promise of an official pardon. Thoughts? I like it because it kinda follows the comic book by having Cap taken out of the bigger picture (although not killed), so he can return for the next Avengers movies. It's a win, win.
If Jared Leto is the Jason Todd Joker, I know a Willem Dafoe Joker would be pure fan service but even then, with the voices he can pull off and the perfect look, having him in a post credit scene would be amazing. Swing through into the Gordon household knocking on the door, Barbra looks through the peep hole and you have his face come towards the lens and he says "Did you miss me?" It cuts to black, we hear a gunshot and laugh.
Look the biggest difference between Marvel Studios and the other studios is that Kevin Feige basically runs his own production company, which is merely a subsidiary of Disney. Marvel Studios began its success before being acquired by the Mouse House (Jon Favreau described Iron Man as the first "independent superhero movie"), and is strictly dedicated to making superhero movies, which ultimately leads to a more consistent track record. WB, Fox, Sony - they treat their comic book films like any other film on the slate, and such a strategy might not work well if you want to establish a shared universe and more.
As a huge Joker fan i have to say i wouldn't mind seeing this Joker be Jason Todd. The idea that the real joker beat Jason to death after branding him with joker themed tattoos as a haunting message to Batman is really intriguing, then maybe even expand the horizons of the DC cinematic universe by having the lazarus pit play a part in Jason coming back and being mentally damaged from the vivid memory of his death at the hands of a mad man and then hunting down and killing (even misleading us to think he killed) the real joker and taking his place. This would perfectly compliment the original joker character, his madness still haunts Batman from beyond the grave, perhaps Harley encounters Jason and its like her Mr J has been resurected
I don't want Joker to be Jason Todd... but I am thinking back to that line Batfleck says, "20 years in Gotham...how many good guys are left? How many stay that way?" And then, of course, Alfred's line, "That's how it starts..." I wouldn't be shocked or appalled if they went that way. But I would prefer if they didn't.
This is definitely the best and my favourite trio on the show. As much as I love the show and Schnepp... I will never watch another episode of Collider Heroes with Umberto Gonzales or Vito Lapiccola after their ridiculous tirade on Antman.

I wholeheartedly agree that the John Byrne run is one of the best runs of the Four. It really set the benchmark in terms of tone, storytelling and characterization of four(no offense to Stan lee and Jack Kriby). And in my view, would be a perfect source to look when creating the Fantastic Four. In a nutshell, my intial problems with this movie was that it didn't feel like the Fantastic Four. To me, Fantastic Four is like a mix of Lost in Space, Stargate and a bit of Flash Gordon. You have wacky scifi, mixed with drama(family drama), along with coping with living with extraordinary abilities. Coupled, with the fact they have no secret identities, their celebrity lifestyle is both a blessing or curse. For as flawed as the Tim Story movies were, at least they captured to an extent the look and feel of the four. I wouldn't mind so much, if Trank had actually captured some of this spirit(kind of like Singer with the X-men). And don't get me started on Doom, as he's my favorite comic book villain and this movie butchered him so badly. But as angry I am at this movie, I am just left feeling sad. The Four were the first family of comics. They were Marvel's first superhero team. I understand their comics had been declining, but they seriously deserve much better. The fact that a movie with a talking raccoon made more money and was more enjoyable than F4 shocks me. No offense to Guardians. I love that movie.
"If you haven't read Civil War..." then you are a truly blessed individual and should consider yourself lucky. I'm sure the movie will be fine, because like most Millar adaptations, they'll change almost everything about it.

I agree with 'The Flash', I also thought that show was going to fail, but was I wrong. John is right, the show only gets better. Grant plays an excellent Barry Allen, he really made me feel for him. It is clear that the writers of 'The Flash' know the source material. I loved going to comment sites and people geeking out over all of Easter eggs in ever show. It is a great show. I am so hyped for 'Doctor Strange'. The movie sounds epic and something we haven't seen before. Beyond hyped for it.

Ultimate Fantastic Four is Fantastic Four. You cannot say it isn't. And commercially it's the most successful iteration so you can't discredit that run.
They should definitely do a Ms. Marvel stand alone. Inhumans and Danvers tie into the origin so nicely, and a young Spidey-aged superhero in New Jersey could have a really cool dynamic on-screen with the web slinger himself
actually (john campea) in the Dark knight Returns (which I know you've read) The Joker gives Batman a run for his money physically in the carnival scene, of course he had a gun, but was impressive none the less.
Trollhunter X In all honesty, I wouldn't care as much if all the Marvel films didn't adhere to this same formula. With this movie there's promise of a team-splitting schism between the Avengers, and personally I want it to be treated with a good deal of seriousness. If this is going to be like Age of Ultron (which I loved by the way), where there's going to be a cute quip every five minutes, I'm going to be disappointed.

I look at the DC shows as kind of passing the torch to one another (so far). I liked to first two seasons of Arrow but then grew bored with the third. But that set up The Flash which I love, but my favorite episodes are when Green Arrow makes a cameo. So what they should do, is allow the previous series to end, putting the focus on a new hero while still having the actors reprise the characters in the newer series. I believe that will keep the stories fresh for longer while still paying fan service to those wanting to see more of their favorite characters before they start to suck. Leave em wanting more, then give them little tastes here and there.
I think I know what happened, Josh trank took creative liberties to try to make fantastic four his own. They gave Josh the right to make something the fans will love, in the process of creating his version of the FF4 he began to get discouraged when word got out that the casting for his FF4 Sucked according to the Fan base for the group. People didn't want to see a black Johnny storm, a web blogger named Doom everything seemed off from the very beginning and fans hated every idea that was coming from the early production stages of FF4. I think when all this began to go down the production companies started going down Josh tranks throat about fan outcry and how many already began saying the will skip this movie because they wasn't being faithful to comic lore. Josh Trank put up and argument and told them trust him because he knows what he's doing after all he is the director not the production companies, this went on and on for months which put pressure and stress on Josh, which in turned spilled over on his cast to the point where him and miles almost got into a fist fight. After a while before you know it time for it to be released came Josh said fuck it, stop giving a fuck and vuwalah.... the piece of doo doo we have today known as Josh tranks FF4. ****** this is all imaginative speculating, I repeat this is all imaginative speculating, not to be passed off as fact******
One reason I think that joker will not be Jason todd is because of the realitonship he seems to have with harley Quinn, in suicide squad where batman appears it looks to be a flashback scene and why would Jason todd have a previous or any relationship with harley
Robert, I will have to wait on that whole people being torn and absolute destruction after Civil War, and it being super emotional. (the most emotional of the Marvel films.) It needs to happen. I hope it happens, but they have promised change and destruction during phase 2 and it hasn't happened. Also, none of the Marvel films have had any true emotion or tension and shaken characters down to their emotional core. The closest thing Marvel has had to that is Tony Stark getting panic attacks, lol. It's about time for Marvel to stand up, let their nuts swing, and step away from the kiddie table and strive for a deeper more enthralling film. I hope they bring it with Civil War, and start making these characters actually feel human bringing in all the emotions and problems that come along with that.

I just want to say, Jon Schnepp is an excellent host. So extremely knowledgeable of this material and well-spoken. And the best example - what really caught my attention in this episode - Jon spoke of the "Wachowski brothers", but was mindful enough to calmly correct himself without missing a beat, "Wachowski siblings". highlights in conversation today were 34:50 singer jack defend and 53:20 robin is anakin. What you have here collider crew with Heroes is GOLD!!! The dynamic within this episode in knowledgeable crosstalk is a testament to your programming.
The Civil War footage was awesome. The first scene showcasing Cap, Falcon, and Widow working together was bad-ass. The following scenes looked even better.

I'm happy that you're finally watching The Flash, Schnepp. It's really great, The lead up to the season finale, and the finale itself were increasingly epic, and The Flash's powers are beautifully portrayed. You really get the sense of a young Barry Allen growing more accustomed to using his powers as he races to avert one city threatening disaster after another. Grant really kills it acting as Allen, forced to make such incredibly hard choices. Can't wait till season two starts! The big bad villain for season two was announced at Comic-Con to be Hunter Zolomon(Zoom!)!

I don't think Josh Trank gets all the blame but certainly from what I'm hearing it was his inability to work in the studio system that caused Fox to step in to "fix" the film. Certainly whatever Fox did to "fix" the film totally failed but the fact they thought they had to do it in the first place despite them trying to shrug off the stigma that they like to micro-manage people's films suggests to me Trank's version wasn't very good to begin with. Sure it might have been better than what we got but doesn't make it any better.

I would love the Fantastic four to go back to Marvel. But many people forget its not just the fantastic four that Fox have the rights to its also a HUGE amount of characters that started in the Fantastic Four comics. For those that read the Infinity Gauntlet lets not forget the Silver Surfer and Dr. Doom played big roles in that. But because the surfer and the Doc were from the Fantastic Four comics, Fox has the rights to them, and they will not appear in the Infinity movie that Marvel will be making. Its not just about the 4 its the hundreds of other characters that went with that contract to Fox. Characters that the MCU need to have in their movies ( well maybe not " need " but would be best :D ).

Hard Boiled is some of the greatest art ever, totally blew my mind and still does. I met Darrow at San Diego Comicon years ago and saw the original poster-sized pencil pages for Big Guy, just incredible. His concept artwork for Matrix is amazing too. All about the intense detail. Would love to see a movie of Hard Boiled by Woo or Miller!

In addition to to the other clues, I think it's possible that Jason Todd is the new Joker because in the trailer you see Harley talking to the Joker in the car but you never see the Joker in the car. It's possible that that scene is a flashback with Batman on the back of the car after "killing" Jason Todd. Then the Joker gets killed somehow but as he's dying he's laughing because he knows what will happen to Jason Todd and that he still wins.
Is Red Skull going to be involved whatsoever or disguised as anyone In Civil War? I wonder if Cap is going to be sucked into the cosmic cube by Red Skull instead of being assassinated and Doctor Strange pulls him out in time to lead the fight against Thanos in the Infinity Wars...
Stop everything! (Unless you're on the toilet, then you have my permission to continue.) Here's an idea for the end of Captain America: Civil War. Let's say the film makers don't go with the Cap being killed idea, but, instead, they go with Cap being imprisoned, or exiled, and later, at the start of Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet Part 1, Tony Stark and co think, "Er...We need Cap!" and he's released or comes back with the promise of an official pardon. Thoughts? I like it because it kinda follows the comic book by having Cap taken out of the bigger picture (although not killed), so he can return for the next Avengers movies. It's a win, win.
If Jared Leto is the Jason Todd Joker, I know a Willem Dafoe Joker would be pure fan service but even then, with the voices he can pull off and the perfect look, having him in a post credit scene would be amazing.
Swing through into the Gordon household knocking on the door, Barbra looks through the peep hole and you have his face come towards the lens and he says "Did you miss me?" It cuts to black, we hear a gunshot and laugh.
Look the biggest difference between Marvel Studios and the other studios is that Kevin Feige basically runs his own production company, which is merely a subsidiary of Disney. Marvel Studios began its success before being acquired by the Mouse House (Jon Favreau described Iron Man as the first "independent superhero movie"), and is strictly dedicated to making superhero movies, which ultimately leads to a more consistent track record. WB, Fox, Sony - they treat their comic book films like any other film on the slate, and such a strategy might not work well if you want to establish a shared universe and more.

As a huge Joker fan i have to say i wouldn't mind seeing this Joker be Jason Todd.
The idea that the real joker beat Jason to death after branding him with joker themed tattoos as a haunting message to Batman is really intriguing, then maybe even expand the horizons of the DC cinematic universe by having the lazarus pit play a part in Jason coming back and being mentally damaged from the vivid memory of his death at the hands of a mad man and then hunting down and killing (even misleading us to think he killed) the real joker and taking his place. This would perfectly compliment the original joker character, his madness still haunts Batman from beyond the grave, perhaps Harley encounters Jason and its like her Mr J has been resurected
I don't want Joker to be Jason Todd... but I am thinking back to that line Batfleck says, "20 years in Gotham...how many good guys are left? How many stay that way?" And then, of course, Alfred's line, "That's how it starts..."
I wouldn't be shocked or appalled if they went that way. But I would prefer if they didn't.
This is definitely the best and my favourite trio on the show. As much as I love the show and Schnepp... I will never watch another episode of Collider Heroes with Umberto Gonzales or Vito Lapiccola after their ridiculous tirade on Antman.
At 33:20 is one of the more aggressive comments, in a good way, that I've heard John say. Been watching the shows, and random rants, for years but when he said that (only for a second and to be followed by perfect logic) I was like damn son!
I wholeheartedly agree that the John Byrne run is one of the best runs of the Four. It really set the benchmark in terms of tone, storytelling and characterization of four(no offense to Stan lee and Jack Kriby). And in my view, would be a perfect source to look when creating the Fantastic Four. In a nutshell, my intial problems with this movie was that it didn't feel like the Fantastic Four. To me, Fantastic Four is like a mix of Lost in Space, Stargate and a bit of Flash Gordon. You have wacky scifi, mixed with drama(family drama), along with coping with living with extraordinary abilities. Coupled, with the fact they have no secret identities, their celebrity lifestyle is both a blessing or curse.
For as flawed as the Tim Story movies were, at least they captured to an extent the look and feel of the four. I wouldn't mind so much, if Trank had actually captured some of this spirit(kind of like Singer with the X-men). And don't get me started on Doom, as he's my favorite comic book villain and this movie butchered him so badly. But as angry I am at this movie, I am just left feeling sad.
The Four were the first family of comics. They were Marvel's first superhero team. I understand their comics had been declining, but they seriously deserve much better. The fact that a movie with a talking raccoon made more money and was more enjoyable than F4 shocks me. No offense to Guardians. I love that movie.
"If you haven't read Civil War..." then you are a truly blessed individual and should consider yourself lucky.
I'm sure the movie will be fine, because like most Millar adaptations, they'll change almost everything about it.

Steve Rodgers will probably be presumed dead at the end of civil war, Thor will have a nightmare in Ragnorok and both will probably make a triumphant return in or at the end of Infinity war part one.
John Byrne is God level. I'm shocked comic book fans wouldn't know who he is. I heard he burned out but in the 80's like Jon Schnep said there were sooooo many good titles. And as a kid I thought would last forever... oh well...

I agree with 'The Flash', I also thought that show was going to fail, but was I wrong. John is right, the show only gets better. Grant plays an excellent Barry Allen, he really made me feel for him. It is clear that the writers of 'The Flash' know the source material. I loved going to comment sites and people geeking out over all of Easter eggs in ever show. It is a great show. I am so hyped for 'Doctor Strange'. The movie sounds epic and something we haven't seen before. Beyond hyped for it.

Ultimate Fantastic Four is Fantastic Four. You cannot say it isn't. And commercially it's the most successful iteration so you can't discredit that run.
They should definitely do a Ms. Marvel stand alone. Inhumans and Danvers tie into the origin so nicely, and a young Spidey-aged superhero in New Jersey could have a really cool dynamic on-screen with the web slinger himself

Trollhunter X In all honesty, I wouldn't care as much if all the Marvel films didn't adhere to this same formula. With this movie there's promise of a team-splitting schism between the Avengers, and personally I want it to be treated with a good deal of seriousness. If this is going to be like Age of Ultron (which I loved by the way), where there's going to be a cute quip every five minutes, I'm going to be disappointed.

I look at the DC shows as kind of passing the torch to one another (so far).
I liked to first two seasons of Arrow but then grew bored with the third. But that set up The Flash which I love, but my favorite episodes are when Green Arrow makes a cameo.
So what they should do, is allow the previous series to end, putting the focus on a new hero while still having the actors reprise the characters in the newer series. I believe that will keep the stories fresh for longer while still paying fan service to those wanting to see more of their favorite characters before they start to suck.
Leave em wanting more, then give them little tastes here and there.
I think I know what happened, Josh trank took creative liberties to try to make fantastic four his own. They gave Josh the right to make something the fans will love, in the process of creating his version of the FF4 he began to get discouraged when word got out that the casting for his FF4 Sucked according to the Fan base for the group. People didn't want to see a black Johnny storm, a web blogger named Doom everything seemed off from the very beginning and fans hated every idea that was coming from the early production stages of FF4. I think when all this began to go down the production companies started going down Josh tranks throat about fan outcry and how many already began saying the will skip this movie because they wasn't being faithful to comic lore. Josh Trank put up and argument and told them trust him because he knows what he's doing after all he is the director not the production companies, this went on and on for months which put pressure and stress on Josh, which in turned spilled over on his cast to the point where him and miles almost got into a fist fight. After a while before you know it time for it to be released came Josh said fuck it, stop giving a fuck and vuwalah.... the piece of doo doo we have today known as Josh tranks FF4. ****** this is all imaginative speculating, I repeat this is all imaginative speculating, not to be passed off as fact******
One reason I think that joker will not be Jason todd is because of the realitonship he seems to have with harley Quinn, in suicide squad where batman appears it looks to be a flashback scene and why would Jason todd have a previous or any relationship with harley
Robert, I will have to wait on that whole people being torn and absolute destruction after Civil War, and it being super emotional. (the most emotional of the Marvel films.) It needs to happen. I hope it happens, but they have promised change and destruction during phase 2 and it hasn't happened. Also, none of the Marvel films have had any true emotion or tension and shaken characters down to their emotional core. The closest thing Marvel has had to that is Tony Stark getting panic attacks, lol. It's about time for Marvel to stand up, let their nuts swing, and step away from the kiddie table and strive for a deeper more enthralling film. I hope they bring it with Civil War, and start making these characters actually feel human bringing in all the emotions and problems that come along with that.
