Thank you for the video! I got Forspoken for 19.99, I decided to give it a try and keep an open mind, thinking the game wasn't gonna be particularly great after reading/watching so many negative reviews online... Turns out the game is stupid fun! Yes, it's not perfect, but it's so freaking entertaining! I'm now on my second playthrough, 70h+, still going strong. I genuinely feel very bad for the game, I wish more people gave it a fair chance, especially given the crazy low price you can get a copy for. It's sad to realise we may never see a sequel
I adore this game, the gameplay is really fun and i love how you feel inside Frey, how she feels weak and then get stronger over the game, i did the full story more than 10 times and i cried ending it almost all. For me is a pure masterpiece of game, and i love the way the missions are pretty concise, no random stuff of looking for gems and spend hours talking with people, just action and action all the time and the fights feel unique while the story develops, it really captivates me!

Hey man, props for going against the grain. I remember seeing gameplay footage of this a while back and sorta looking forward to it. Was surprised to see so much negative press on it when it released but the things that appealed to me still seemed strong in spite of the backlash and you did a great job of breaking it down from another perspective. It also happens to be on sale on Steam rn so I'm picking up the deluxe edition. Keep doing what you do bro.

Hidden Gem implies this game is actually Fun. This isn't one of those titles. Titles like Alunda, Hotline Miami Or something like Blasphemous or even Ghost of Tsushima would qualify. Heck Faith is an actual hidden gem. This is just overproduced and overpriced schlock.
I pre-ordered the upgraded version, and I have loved it. I felt that people hated on it because of the sista, and I'm glad I'm not the only one that believes so. The conversations with cuff wasn't bad enough to trash this game.
We need more people like you to speak up for Forspoken, thank you for this great video you did. I have the platinum trophy for Forspoken, and 100% completion for the DLC. I genuinely love this game, and it deserves far better treatment than it has received. I enjoyed Forspoken just as much as I did Final Fantasy 16, and Spider-man 2, two very popular PS5 releases this year. Forspoken deserves Justice.

The games great. It was crowd mentality. I bought into it has well till i played it. It's a great game. Extremely fun gameplay, great graphics and i even thought the story was okay. The ending boss fight was awesome! The magic in the game just make you feel powerful but yet you can easily be taken out by bosses. I love the game.
I bought this game on sale but I’ve been interested in it since release but everyone crapped on it. As I’m playing it, yeah it has some weird pauses during cutscenes and sometimes dialogue is questionable, but I’m loving it. So I looked for a video to find someone who’s not crapping on it. Love your video, love your take, even makes me like certain things more. Also gave me some good tips to try!
I think it's a fun game, nice graphics, interesting gameplay, fast action and a wide variety of spells. The conversation of the main character and others is no worse than that of many other games, such as dragon dogma, dragon age, assassins creed, etc. Sometimes better, the development of the main character and how she views the world and herself is fine. But hey, I'm a 70 year old gamer who has been playing games for 42 years and still enjoys them.

I think this is just a matter of preference. I got 60 hours into Mass Effect Andromeda before I realized how little I knew about the story and worse yet how little I cared. I don’t think Forspoken is a victim of the times man it’s just not as good as it should’ve been
I liked Andromeda but my experience wasn't buggy. If you played forespoken and didn't like it fair enough. Problem is most didn't and many that did really didn't know how to play and even though the game does a good job of explaining it's controls it's still unorthodox compared to other shooters. Many people are used to familiar ways of play and the fact I been gaming for over 20 years and even I had to actually learn the game because it's really no other game like it says alot. The modern gamer today is just going to look at forspoken and relate it to a shooter but because it doesn't play like a traditional shooter they will say it's crap. The video was to show it's better than that if you play the actual game. Many are using the demo but the demo doesn't explain the controls as the full game does.

@@Grimpachi same here I had maybe 3-4 bugs that I saw my entire play through it just never felt like a true Mass Effect. As for Forespoken I will give it another shot sometime soon cuz the visuals for the combat always caught my eye. Either way man keep up the content I’m here for it

This is one of the ways the enforced DIE system in media is actually hurting the people they claim to represent. Because people are so burned out and tired of it when they see a black female lead, it’s a case of ‘here we go again’ and don’t give it a chance. We are so used to it been enforced from the top down to tick boxes that there will be game developers who build from the ground up, who want to focus on their story and characters with a unique point of view from their own backgrounds. Games that would have blown up on the Indy circuit, are never going to be given a chance because of this… and that’s just sad. Take the Dungeons and Dragons movie. People saw the strong female warrior character and the male bard and just assumed that she would be girl bossing around emasculating him, because that is what has been enforced over and over. It took word of mouth for people to say - no she is as much a part of the team as him and their skills complement each other
You are right and it is sad it had to end this way. The responsibility lies squarely on the storytellers and artists who found it beneficial to force this representation garbage unaturally and ruin an entire decade of potentially timeless works. This decade will be looked back on with eye rollingly tepid apathy.

Thanks for reassuring that this is currently worth the price as I did picked it up for black friday digital on ps5. For anyone reading this, the game has great really fast paced action & immersion. Also awesome music to accommodate the theme, even kind of Skyrim vibes. I got it half price but easily could've paid full price in Nov 2023 and not disappointed at all. I waited and was worth it.
Great review, yeah Forspoken delivers on what it promises and does it all with some really pretty VFX. The game definitely got screwed over by overzealous reviewers farming clickbait and jumping on the hate for the games protaganist.
I'd like a sequel, too; 'Forespoken' wasn't bad. Okay there are ideas that could have gone into it, but still, it's better than a lot of Haters are squawking.

I havent played the game yet, but from the reviews i read most people loved the gameplay, its just the story that they didnt like. The boss black chic with an attitude is also played out.
That's literally not at all her personality...... Like this is what I'm saying. I don't think these people actually played the game rather they heard what they wanted to hear. Frey is like Deacon St John to me. A character with a tragic story and lots of issues but as the game goes on they develop. There is not boss girl attitude 😂 I don't want to spoil it but that's just not true
@Grimpachi yes it is. Her tone literally never changes. She talks to the bracelet the entire time with that tone. By no means am I even trying to say that the game is woke, but that attitude seems to get annoying.

I didn't know boss girl meant depressed ? Typically it's a arrogant attitude. Frey is not that at all. Now there are times both her and cuff ,that's the bracelets name, act like smart asses to each other so maybe that's what you are talking about ? If so I can't name how man characters do that and it's not an issue. Aloy I would say is boss girl. Frey isn't. Like I said the writer of Uncharted 1 - 3 did this and if you liked her work before you will like it now.

Black women on the cover... That makes no sense, number one problem for the negative reviews was the attitude/ language they chose for the main character, people didn't like it and couldn't relate to it. She was being a dick for a lot of the game to many characters. Gameplay was a positive, game world was empty. That's basically it. She could be purple it would make a difference if they scripted dialogs differently
@@Grimpachi in my opinion this game did not flop because of people complaining before they got to play the game, it actually had a big expectations and bunch of. People were very excited, myself included. But after it's realese... Tripple A expectations simply failed to deliver. Don't get me wrong, it's good but not THAT good and it would be a madive difference if main character regardless of her color or gender was likable. This just did not land well with people.
The game tells you where the cats will follow you when you first unlock them. They also warn you when you’re in danger, even though the music already does that. People don’t know that the best way to play is to roam the free world powering up before hitting the main mission. If you have the patience, Forspoken is the sleeper hit on 2023.

Iv recently played this game as i always ignore peoples reviews and judge for myself... I love it, combat is awsome, open world is nice i loved traversing it and i dont understand the dialogue hate, its exactly how young people speak this day and age. I would of payed full price if i had the money at the time 👊
I preordered this game before it came out. I was so hype for it. In some ways it really didnt live up to it. The voice acting held this game back a lot. With that being said the soundtrack was awesome and the parkour and combat was phenomenal. I really didnt understand the crazy amount of hate this game received

I’ve played and beaten the game and I’ve been trying to tell people this game is actually pretty good and I keep getting attacked by people that never played it.
Well I played it and I’ll tell you what the games is incredibly bad. They had potential to be good but when you have a team of terrible racist writers that have more political takes than takes on how to make the game better then u get game like this. The game was extremely repetitive. Specially after beating it. Nothing to do but run around. The parkour can be fun and amazing to look at. The boss fights was alright ig. Everything else sucked. Cuff sucked because he had terrible dialogue but he could’ve been likable. The protagonist is a bitch you’ll see now in today era who is everything a hero isn’t. One min stealing and working with gangs to telling an entire town she doesn’t care if they die throughout the entire game and extremely selfish. Nothing to sympathize with. Even I will say seeing children die in games is bad but then again just got into this new world and only talk to the kid once for like several minutes. Now she wants to kill someone and change her mind on killing ppl after killing her but doesn’t care if an entire village dies. They try to make her look like she cares but all she come across as is a bitch and when she isn’t it’s out of no where do u know the writing is bad asf. It’s so bad I could understand why cuff was evil I’d turn evil if I had to listen to that thing all day 2. All characters are ugly and uninteresting. What about her mom that for some reason didn’t turn evil while pregnant but when she wasn’t she immediately came 2 and turned into a fucking dragon. One minute earlier trying to kill Faye and the next she’s just good outta no where. There mind control by cuff but wanna kill her and cuff. U can say well they wanna kill Faye and she will just take cuff and do the rest noooooo. Impossible it’s bad story writing it would make more sense if she let herself die or helped Faye or they just all came together and it’s just a mess the story is incredible at being one of the worst stories characters and character designs in gaming history. Only thing this game got is possibly the parkour and boss fights other than that those aren’t even that good so the game should be free to play. It’s not worth anyone’s hard earned money. I wished I never bought it and that’s cuz the ability to use magic got me. Definitely a 2-10
The sheeps hating on this game i've always found very odd. Spider Man one of my favorite games of all time is praised as being the second coming of christ yet everyone who reviewed Spider Man never criticize how incredibly awkward the dialaouge is with new york citizens. They all act like robots, yet you never hear the same of level of complaints. Unfortunately there's another issue "ADULTS" lol. Adults take the fun out of everything and many people are victims of political warfare, so there was a lot of jokes about her being a chocolate lady and the haters calling it "woke" when it's really that Anti social Justice warriors are just as sensitive as Hyper SJW'S. Frey can be cringe at times but that is HER character & are we not going to pretend that Dante from DMC doesn't have cringe moments? I love Dante but he can also be a cringe legend. Yet again you don't hear the same outrage. Unfortunately adults allow politics to intervene in everything they do & it actually brainwashes them into illogical thinking because of their biasness. Does this game have flaws? absolutely but those flaws aren't bad enough to for hiveminds to act like it's the worst game or even one of the worst games ever made. I really hope they make a 2nd one and go even harder & bigger the 2nd time. This game is totally worth $40 bucks or under imo.
Yo wassup as a Brooklyn native the spider man games are way more accurate also to compare these two isn’t faire after you beat Spider-Man there are a lot of things you can do NYC is packed with random and hidden goodies but forspoken isn’t I %100 this and got the plat this game is just boring there isn’t anything to do like anything at all
@@kazum1809 I've lived in NY for 5 years straight my friend & still visit family and friends there often. I've done a lot of business in NY and have always looked at it as my 2nd home. I didn't say NY wasn't accurate but the people in NY don't talk like most of the NPC's in Spider Man at all my dude lol & again Spider Man is one of my favorite super hero's of all time. He's in my top 3. I'm always ok with an opposite opinion but you saying, again, "the way people act NYC is accurate" in Spider Man is WILD. Makes me think you've never been there. We don't act like bots my guy & don't get me started on the mediocre audio of Spider Man games in general. People made light fun of Final Fantasy 15 but they didn't even crucify FF15 the same way they did Forspoken & FF15, even though super fun, can also be super cringe but hey, to each's own. Well I can understand and agree with where you're coming from. I have to completely disagree with the sentiment. I picked up the game for $17. Thought it was great initially. Hell I only paid $10 overall for the game after discounts.... Long story short, even at $10 I returned it... Gave it an hour and 50 minutes of playtime. I really tried to give them a chance.... The problem is not that this game isn't good... The problem is the person who made this game clearly has not played the game or was so addicted to their own game. They lost sight of what people actually like to play. It seems there's a whole bunch of copium here. Yes, of course It doesn't deserve the sort of persecution that it receives. However, this isn't Lord of the rings gullum either.... The point is where this game ultimately fell flat for me is the movement in combat which was the number one thing which was praised by people.... It's easily looked over and it's easy to make it feel repetitive and honestly, it's up to you to make it non-repetitive.... Well, you're acting like an entire population filled with people who generally play shooting games won't just immediately pick up this game. See it as a magical shooting game and not like it because it feels like a magical shooter. It just does not feel fun to play. It's not captivating and unfortunately it's too much like any other shooting game. I might as well just go on and play Apex Legends for free.... I mean literally it's beaten by other free games in terms of gunplay. It blends a mix of very unique aspects but unfortunately each one of those unique aspects while making this game unique by bringing them all together. False flat entirely on their own as an idea.... This blend only works if you're willing to tolerate all of them together in this game and then oversee them not working. Synergistically.... Which unfortunately for me and many other people don't... I'm sorry but my time is valuable to me. I spent $10 on this game and 150 gigabytes downloading it.... If I was to be able to receive it in the future for free, I wouldn't use the bandwith downloaded again and that says an huge amount about this game... Just don't even download it. It's not worth the space. There's other things that could fill your hard drive, sadly. I love the concept of the ideas but bringing them all together makes it fall flat. They really needed a crutch to hold on to and without placing one into the game I felt this fell really far onto its head

I never hated Frey all that much. The dialogue wasn't amazing but it's not that bad. Gameplay and traversal was very fun. Loved the music too. Never got to the DLC so might play it again.
For a game that YOU imply was unfairly reviewed due to woke culture and exaggeration ...that was a very "woke" review. I m sick and tired of ppl justifying a game or a movie or series having bad reviews, by saying "it's a black character on the cover" "it's a girl protagonist" etc etc. Travel the world a bit.. racism is real but it only dominates very few cultures. If you are American then sure..it s a big issue. But this game bombed EVERYWHERE. Most ppl don't care if its a black character or a woman. They care for the cringe dialogue and bad gameplay. Are there worse games? Sure..but it aint a good game objectively compared to others it was competing against. Ofc its ur opinion and u should be able to say whatever you want. But saying that a black character on the cover was the 1rst and most important reason this was bombed is just untrue. I also said another big reason is that this game doesn't come across as something that would be complex to play and people complained about the gameplay mostly from not understanding it. @Grimpachi, it's frustrating that a small minority of loud ppl let you think that a lot of ppl have a problem with a black character. Its frustrating many ppl are confusing a dislike for fake and forced diversity with racism. The game did bad in America cuz it's bad. Idc if you saw a few toxic comments from bots and trolls and a few crazys but stop lumping ppl with valid complaints in with the handful of racist ppl hating on the game.
Racism isn't as big an issue in the US as you're led to believe. People just like to pretend it is, so they have an excuse for their failures. They can't be at fault for their bad decisions if they have racism to blame it on.
I actually tried the demo for forspoken and I remember the combat being a little sluggish at first but then it got better? I love the fire sword and the shoot pebble thing that Frey had! And I was gonna get the game but the dead space remake was coming out a few days after forspoken so I got that first! Now when I get to my local BEST BUY right next to my job I can get this game! Looks interesting! (Edit) also great review!
It's TRUE that many of the hates are so so exaggerating, some supposedly "cringey" dialogue aren't that bad - like the "Did I just do that..." However, I must disagree with your point where the game is getting the hate becuz of a black woman as the main protagonist. Rather, it is the total opposite. She's made to be so unrelatable and just unlikable. They made the game so that the black woman is a total asshole. What's worse, the other black girl in the game is also a thief and was first to die. Frey's character arch to become a kind and responsible person just doesn't sell sadly.
I diss agree. Its actually pretty accurate to people I have known with trust issues that standoff behavior. The game does a great job of slowly showing her change. Even in the end she still struggles which is pretty realistic.
To the black woman thing tho. I heard enough people even someone in my comments said a black woman in this setting is an agenda. They deleted the comment or blocked me cause I don't see it anymore.
Thing is though, in theory there is nothing wrong with a character been an ass. A tough cookie New Yorker character can easily work - just look at Max Payne - and a story where a ‘street rat’ is exposed to a fantasy world and how they change one another would be interesting… I just think that people find the black boss bach character grating and played out. I wonder if they had made her more vulnerable and showed that her bravado was a mask she wore to protect her, if it would have connected with people more?
Interesting points, and I can see what you mean. Maybe I'm not compatible with her, like throughout the game, while I was feeling sympathetic and sorry for the people in the city, she just didn't care one bit, despite having nothing to go back to in NY (We know what happened to Homer). At first I felt anger like Frey when they arrested her, but after awhile, I connected more with the people, and in the next moment Frey just semi-blame Auden father's death for screwing up her ticket out of here. I can handle grumpy pessimistic defensive characters - but not this.. whatever this is.

She has a hard time trusting but you see her wanting to but just can't yet. To stop from being sad over his death she focused more on not being able to leave. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people out there that write games off as "woke" just for having a black character on the cover or having a black lead. Just look at Spiderman. The amount of people Ive seen outraged at the idea of Peter taking a break and Miles being the main Spiderman for a while is disturbing yet not surprising.

Except that game is universally loved by both Western and Japanese audiences. This game, on the other hand, was farted out by a corporation and dev team who didn't understand who they were making a product for. A review that doesn't bash one of the few games I platinumed this year? What is this craziness. The combat, the graphics, the visual style and feel of the world, the parkour and the music in Forspoken are all absolutely delightful. Yes, Frey can be a bit jarring with her attitude but eh, she's had a life and her attitude reflects her past. Yes, the banter between her and the cuff can get a bit repetitive, but just tune it down or turn it off if it bothers too much. And yes, the world is void of other people, and even though there is a lore explanation for it, it would've been nice if there was at least one other city or town somewhere out there. It's not a perfect game, I struggle to find one that is, but it is a definitive highlight of my gaming year for damn sure.
I'm playing this game right now and I'm really enjoying it. The game play and game mechanics are great. Clearly a huge amount of creativity and talent has gone into making it, so it's not deserving of some of the hate it has recieved. My only criticism is that main character 'Frey' swears way too much, otherwise she is really cool and the story is good.
I liked the game. I rarely beat games and I beat this one. I went into it knowing the voice acting was kind of cringey so I switched it to Japanese and Sub and it was fine. The only bad things I can say about this game is the intro is very slow and exploration isn't rewarding... like you'll climb up a mountain and open a chest only to get crafting materials

I have noticed grim the majority of the hate I see from this game comes from people that haven't even played it vs the people like me and you that have actually played and beat and like yeah it's pretty good.
@@captaincrunch1707 the demo is fine however it drops you off ways along in the game and I can promise you the things I explained with how complex this combat system is you wouldn't know just being dumped that far ahead. Even I after playing the demo felt the gameplay was odd but that's because in the actual game you slowly get to know how to play vs the demo that places you far into it.
Every single person I've seen talk shit about Forspoken is someone that hasn't played the game, or played for like, an hour. Streamers making fun of the game killed it. Because most casual gamers don't have their own opinion. If some PewDie praised this game it could outsell most games last year.
Battlefield 1 had a black soldier on the front cover, nobody cared, the game was still well received and had high reviews. Blaming racism for a game failing is a cop out. If a game is good people will buy it despite the political agenda. Like Mortal Kombat 11, full of woke nonsense but the game was still a hit.
Battlefield 1 actually did get criticism because people said they made the small number of black soldiers that were in WW1 seem bigger than they were. Forspoken before it released was bashed by many because yes today to alot of people a black person in a setting they believe is for white people is "woke". People have left comments saying just that here.

If you want to show black people in your game so much, then dont choose to highlight a white male centric historical event and then complain that there isnt enough diversity to win your stupid BAFTA.

Not just my comments, but you can easily Google and see people complaining about her being black and it's woke, etc.
Now, I will say this, it's not ultimately the reason why ppl hated the game, but you have to be smart enough to realize that when ppl will see a black woman on the cover of a game, they will initially assume it is for woke points. So, that will already be a strike for a game. I definitely won't defend this game, but you have to be honest about certain things that will happen due to these woke politics. Also, I'll admit, I also saw a few comments bringing up frey's race. Things like what I was saying "well, she's black, guess it's going in the woke direction!" and things like that. 🤷🏾♂️
I feel like it feels like a old game. It may suck in dialogue (not really) but it is a good game. People get caught up in games being movies & obstacle courses & shit instead of a game being a game

finally! when i first saw this game I was like whoaaa looks so good looks like so much fun, and then saw some reviews and everybody was like, yeah the gameplay is fun and the traversal is fun and the character is interesting but the narration just won't shut up! so it's a bad game.. But I like goofy ah narration and fun gameplay, I rather have some weird narration than just ambient sounds for hours like in ubisoft games... IDk man need to ty it for myself first but finally someone saying it's a good game, because I felt it's good , it looks amazing so idk
Thanks for watching. As for the narration it's about as frequent as any other game. Maybe even less cause the main character isn't talking to herself to remind the player of something. They talk during story and in gameplay you will hear combat banter but that's it.

This type of game is right up my alley, but the writing alone turned me away from it... Why is so much media in these last 5 years or so plagued by inexplicably bad writing? I haven't heard anyone say anything about the protagonist's identity or representation, tho I'm sure such losers exist. Vast majority seem to agree that it's a solid game but not great, and that the writing / main character are a big turn off
The story being told I felt was great. I understand that she can come off negative but the story gave a understandable reason for it along with her growing past her issues. If you ever played Days Gone that character also rubbed people wrongly but again I feel if the writers explain why someone behaves an unpleasant why while watching them grow its fine.
nice to see some positivity for this game. It got assassinated by mob mentality real bad, I had a ton of fun with it and theres nothing quite like it with the combat and traversal. I had hoped for a sequel to improve upon what was an already really solid start to a new IP, but now we won't get that cause of sales.

I don't give attention to anti woke click bait. I just played the demo and wasn't very impressed so I just forgot about it. I'll def keep an eye out for a nice sale but have been pretty occupied with gamepass and diablo 4 lately.
Bro I loved this game. Writing wasn't very good, but I really, really enjoyed the gameplay, and I like isekai stories tbh. I 1000% don't think the hate it got was warranted. Also, I genuinely think most people just weren't good at the movement system, and said it was bad.

I am one of those people that enjoy this game, definetly far from my favorites but it's some good fun. Though I heavily dissagree with some points, like, this gaming not have sensory overload? Countless times I was going to the main mission but was also putting 3-4 pins on map to create a good route for collecting stuff but was also distracted by all the materials thrown around and mana. I mean, if there is a game that overloads you with stuff to do, it's this one.
I think we just see it differently. I felt it wasn't much distracting me. Mana might be the only thing but often it was on the way to where I was going and touching it was not enough to take me from my objective

@Grimpachi other than the combo counter, it feels like Infamous. Especially Infamous 2 when he has dual powers, plus a grappling hook, the Amp, and quicker traversal. But I'm really enjoying forspoken, just made it to the halfway point. My only issues are Frye and cuff's banter repeats too often, I sometimes lose track of myself with all the clutter of effects, and treasure chest rewards are so underwhelming. Hey guys. First I would like to say thank you all for watching the review and I hope you enjoyed it. Many may disagree with me and that's perfectly fine. But from one gamer to the next I'm telling you that many of us listen to the media and miss great games. I can't tell you the many great games I played that people trashed. Forspoken has a demo you can try BUT it doesn't explain how to play well. Despite that if like me you saw the potential in it I would say try the real game on a sale. When it comes to the story I really loved it. It has not "agenda" unless you think black people are an agenda. You can look at my channel and I have called out agenda pushing before but this is not the case here. Everyone's opinion as long as you are being respectful to everyone is welcomed rather we agree or not BUT being honest if you didn't even play the demo or when it comes to the story you know nothing but that silly commercial and you let the public opinion sway you our conversation really won't go anywhere as you just don't know what I do. I don't care if you rent the game 😂 I'm telling you if you enjoy games with complex gameplay like Bayonetta and love learning how to fight many enemies with their own complex attacks all while being stylish then Forspoken is for you. If you like fantasy stories mixed with a well paced development of tragic characters that grow on you overtime kinda like Deacan St. John from Days Gone , another game I loved most crapped on UNTIL THEY PLAYED THE GAME THEMSELVES AND DIDN'T LET THE MEDIA TELL THEM WHAT TO DO 😂, you will also love Forspoken.

I missed this review. Good on ya. I’m a big, middle aged white dude with a flat-top so I’ve have had tons and tons and tons of representation in media since I started consuming it in the 80s so I have no problem if it gets weighted the other way for a few decades for balance. But this game has fantastic design elements and 2 reviewers I’ve watched for years said the combat mechanics had much merit. Also as a seperate thing, in 3rd person games I always grow to feel towards my characters the way I would about a machine or a tool or a car that I love. Sometimes almost like a pet. They have an automatic dearness to me that is fun and makes me feel it more when the y get hurt and doesn’t matter if they’re a female or a male or whatever. I get an attachment regardless.

Thank you for the video! I got Forspoken for 19.99, I decided to give it a try and keep an open mind, thinking the game wasn't gonna be particularly great after reading/watching so many negative reviews online... Turns out the game is stupid fun! Yes, it's not perfect, but it's so freaking entertaining! I'm now on my second playthrough, 70h+, still going strong. I genuinely feel very bad for the game, I wish more people gave it a fair chance, especially given the crazy low price you can get a copy for. It's sad to realise we may never see a sequel

I adore this game, the gameplay is really fun and i love how you feel inside Frey, how she feels weak and then get stronger over the game, i did the full story more than 10 times and i cried ending it almost all. For me is a pure masterpiece of game, and i love the way the missions are pretty concise, no random stuff of looking for gems and spend hours talking with people, just action and action all the time and the fights feel unique while the story develops, it really captivates me!

Hidden Gem implies this game is actually Fun. This isn't one of those titles.
Titles like Alunda, Hotline Miami Or something like Blasphemous or even Ghost of Tsushima would qualify. Heck Faith is an actual hidden gem. This is just overproduced and overpriced schlock.
It's like people had never heard of a story where you're not supposed to like the character right from the beginning.
I pre-ordered the upgraded version, and I have loved it. I felt that people hated on it because of the sista, and I'm glad I'm not the only one that believes so. The conversations with cuff wasn't bad enough to trash this game.

I genuinely love this game, and it deserves far better treatment than it has received. I enjoyed Forspoken just as much as I did Final Fantasy 16, and Spider-man 2, two very popular PS5 releases this year. Forspoken deserves Justice.

The games great. It was crowd mentality. I bought into it has well till i played it. It's a great game. Extremely fun gameplay, great graphics and i even thought the story was okay. The ending boss fight was awesome! The magic in the game just make you feel powerful but yet you can easily be taken out by bosses. I love the game.

I think it's a fun game, nice graphics, interesting gameplay, fast action and a wide variety of spells. The conversation of the main character and others is no worse than that of many other games, such as dragon dogma, dragon age, assassins creed, etc. Sometimes better, the development of the main character and how she views the world and herself is fine. But hey, I'm a 70 year old gamer who has been playing games for 42 years and still enjoys them.

I think this is just a matter of preference. I got 60 hours into Mass Effect Andromeda before I realized how little I knew about the story and worse yet how little I cared. I don’t think Forspoken is a victim of the times man it’s just not as good as it should’ve been

I liked Andromeda but my experience wasn't buggy. If you played forespoken and didn't like it fair enough. Problem is most didn't and many that did really didn't know how to play and even though the game does a good job of explaining it's controls it's still unorthodox compared to other shooters. Many people are used to familiar ways of play and the fact I been gaming for over 20 years and even I had to actually learn the game because it's really no other game like it says alot. The modern gamer today is just going to look at forspoken and relate it to a shooter but because it doesn't play like a traditional shooter they will say it's crap. The video was to show it's better than that if you play the actual game. Many are using the demo but the demo doesn't explain the controls as the full game does.

This is one of the ways the enforced DIE system in media is actually hurting the people they claim to represent. Because people are so burned out and tired of it when they see a black female lead, it’s a case of ‘here we go again’ and don’t give it a chance.
We are so used to it been enforced from the top down to tick boxes that there will be game developers who build from the ground up, who want to focus on their story and characters with a unique point of view from their own backgrounds. Games that would have blown up on the Indy circuit, are never going to be given a chance because of this… and that’s just sad.
Take the Dungeons and Dragons movie. People saw the strong female warrior character and the male bard and just assumed that she would be girl bossing around emasculating him, because that is what has been enforced over and over. It took word of mouth for people to say - no she is as much a part of the team as him and their skills complement each other

The responsibility lies squarely on the storytellers and artists who found it beneficial to force this representation garbage unaturally and ruin an entire decade of potentially timeless works. Thanks for reassuring that this is currently worth the price as I did picked it up for black friday digital on ps5. For anyone reading this, the game has great really fast paced action & immersion. Also awesome music to accommodate the theme, even kind of Skyrim vibes. I got it half price but easily could've paid full price in Nov 2023 and not disappointed at all. I waited and was worth it.
Great review, yeah Forspoken delivers on what it promises and does it all with some really pretty VFX. The game definitely got screwed over by overzealous reviewers farming clickbait and jumping on the hate for the games protaganist.

I havent played the game yet, but from the reviews i read most people loved the gameplay, its just the story that they didnt like. The boss black chic with an attitude is also played out.
That's literally not at all her personality...... Like this is what I'm saying. I don't think these people actually played the game rather they heard what they wanted to hear. Frey is like Deacon St John to me. A character with a tragic story and lots of issues but as the game goes on they develop.

Black women on the cover... That makes no sense, number one problem for the negative reviews was the attitude/ language they chose for the main character, people didn't like it and couldn't relate to it. She was being a dick for a lot of the game to many characters. Gameplay was a positive, game world was empty. That's basically it. She could be purple it would make a difference if they scripted dialogs differently

@@Grimpachi in my opinion this game did not flop because of people complaining before they got to play the game, it actually had a big expectations and bunch of. People were very excited, myself included. But after it's realese... Tripple A expectations simply failed to deliver. Don't get me wrong, it's good but not THAT good and it would be a madive difference if main character regardless of her color or gender was likable. This just did not land well with people.

The game tells you where the cats will follow you when you first unlock them. They also warn you when you’re in danger, even though the music already does that.
People don’t know that the best way to play is to roam the free world powering up before hitting the main mission. If you have the patience, Forspoken is the sleeper hit on 2023.

I love it, combat is awsome, open world is nice i loved traversing it and i dont understand the dialogue hate, its exactly how young people speak this day and age. I preordered this game before it came out. I was so hype for it. In some ways it really didnt live up to it. The voice acting held this game back a lot. With that being said the soundtrack was awesome and the parkour and combat was phenomenal. I really didnt understand the crazy amount of hate this game received

Well I played it and I’ll tell you what the games is incredibly bad. They had potential to be good but when you have a team of terrible racist writers that have more political takes than takes on how to make the game better then u get game like this. The game was extremely repetitive. Specially after beating it. Nothing to do but run around. The parkour can be fun and amazing to look at. The boss fights was alright ig. Everything else sucked. Cuff sucked because he had terrible dialogue but he could’ve been likable. The protagonist is a bitch you’ll see now in today era who is everything a hero isn’t. One min stealing and working with gangs to telling an entire town she doesn’t care if they die throughout the entire game and extremely selfish. Nothing to sympathize with. Even I will say seeing children die in games is bad but then again just got into this new world and only talk to the kid once for like several minutes. Now she wants to kill someone and change her mind on killing ppl after killing her but doesn’t care if an entire village dies. They try to make her look like she cares but all she come across as is a bitch and when she isn’t it’s out of no where do u know the writing is bad asf. It’s so bad I could understand why cuff was evil I’d turn evil if I had to listen to that thing all day 2. All characters are ugly and uninteresting. What about her mom that for some reason didn’t turn evil while pregnant but when she wasn’t she immediately came 2 and turned into a fucking dragon. One minute earlier trying to kill Faye and the next she’s just good outta no where. There mind control by cuff but wanna kill her and cuff. U can say well they wanna kill Faye and she will just take cuff and do the rest noooooo. Impossible it’s bad story writing it would make more sense if she let herself die or helped Faye or they just all came together and it’s just a mess the story is incredible at being one of the worst stories characters and character designs in gaming history. Only thing this game got is possibly the parkour and boss fights other than that those aren’t even that good so the game should be free to play. It’s not worth anyone’s hard earned money. I wished I never bought it and that’s cuz the ability to use magic got me. Definitely a 2-10

The sheeps hating on this game i've always found very odd. Spider Man one of my favorite games of all time is praised as being the second coming of christ yet everyone who reviewed Spider Man never criticize how incredibly awkward the dialaouge is with new york citizens. They all act like robots, yet you never hear the same of level of complaints. Unfortunately there's another issue "ADULTS" lol. Adults take the fun out of everything and many people are victims of political warfare, so there was a lot of jokes about her being a chocolate lady and the haters calling it "woke" when it's really that Anti social Justice warriors are just as sensitive as Hyper SJW'S. Frey can be cringe at times but that is HER character & are we not going to pretend that Dante from DMC doesn't have cringe moments? I love Dante but he can also be a cringe legend. Yet again you don't hear the same outrage. Unfortunately adults allow politics to intervene in everything they do & it actually brainwashes them into illogical thinking because of their biasness. Does this game have flaws? absolutely but those flaws aren't bad enough to for hiveminds to act like it's the worst game or even one of the worst games ever made. I really hope they make a 2nd one and go even harder & bigger the 2nd time. This game is totally worth $40 bucks or under imo.
Yo wassup as a Brooklyn native the spider man games are way more accurate also to compare these two isn’t faire after you beat Spider-Man there are a lot of things you can do NYC is packed with random and hidden goodies but forspoken isn’t I %100 this and got the plat this game is just boring there isn’t anything to do like anything at all

I didn't say NY wasn't accurate but the people in NY don't talk like most of the NPC's in Spider Man at all my dude lol & again Spider Man is one of my favorite super hero's of all time. He's in my top 3. I'm always ok with an opposite opinion but you saying, again, "the way people act NYC is accurate" in Spider Man is WILD. Makes me think you've never been there. We don't act like bots my guy & don't get me started on the mediocre audio of Spider Man games in general. People made light fun of Final Fantasy 15 but they didn't even crucify FF15 the same way they did Forspoken & FF15, even though super fun, can also be super cringe but hey, to each's own. I gave Forspoken my money on discount & it's def not the worst game nor one of the worst games of all time but again to each's own. I picked up the game for $17. Thought it was great initially. Hell I only paid $10 overall for the game after discounts.... Long story short, even at $10 I returned it...
Gave it an hour and 50 minutes of playtime. I really tried to give them a chance....
The problem is not that this game isn't good... The problem is the person who made this game clearly has not played the game or was so addicted to their own game. They lost sight of what people actually like to play.
It seems there's a whole bunch of copium here. Yes, of course It doesn't deserve the sort of persecution that it receives. However, this isn't Lord of the rings gullum either....
The point is where this game ultimately fell flat for me is the movement in combat which was the number one thing which was praised by people.... It's easily looked over and it's easy to make it feel repetitive and honestly, it's up to you to make it non-repetitive.... Well, you're acting like an entire population filled with people who generally play shooting games won't just immediately pick up this game. See it as a magical shooting game and not like it because it feels like a magical shooter. It just does not feel fun to play. It's not captivating and unfortunately it's too much like any other shooting game. I might as well just go on and play Apex Legends for free.... I mean literally it's beaten by other free games in terms of gunplay. It blends a mix of very unique aspects but unfortunately each one of those unique aspects while making this game unique by bringing them all together. False flat entirely on their own as an idea.... This blend only works if you're willing to tolerate all of them together in this game and then oversee them not working. Synergistically.... Which unfortunately for me and many other people don't...
I'm sorry but my time is valuable to me. I spent $10 on this game and 150 gigabytes downloading it.... If I was to be able to receive it in the future for free, I wouldn't use the bandwith downloaded again and that says an huge amount about this game... Just don't even download it. It's not worth the space. There's other things that could fill your hard drive, sadly.
I love the concept of the ideas but bringing them all together makes it fall flat. They really needed a crutch to hold on to and without placing one into the game I felt this fell really far onto its head

I never hated Frey all that much. The dialogue wasn't amazing but it's not that bad. Gameplay and traversal was very fun. Loved the music too. Never got to the DLC so might play it again.

Its frustrating many ppl are confusing a dislike for fake and forced diversity with racism.
The game did bad in America cuz it's bad. Idc if you saw a few toxic comments from bots and trolls and a few crazys but stop lumping ppl with valid complaints in with the handful of racist ppl hating on the game.
Racism isn't as big an issue in the US as you're led to believe. People just like to pretend it is, so they have an excuse for their failures. They can't be at fault for their bad decisions if they have racism to blame it on.

I actually tried the demo for forspoken and I remember the combat being a little sluggish at first but then it got better?
I love the fire sword and the shoot pebble thing that Frey had!
And I was gonna get the game but the dead space remake was coming out a few days after forspoken so I got that first!
Now when I get to my local BEST BUY right next to my job I can get this game!

It's TRUE that many of the hates are so so exaggerating, some supposedly "cringey" dialogue aren't that bad - like the "Did I just do that..."
However, I must disagree with your point where the game is getting the hate becuz of a black woman as the main protagonist. Rather, it is the total opposite. She's made to be so unrelatable and just unlikable. They made the game so that the black woman is a total asshole. What's worse, the other black girl in the game is also a thief and was first to die. Frey's character arch to become a kind and responsible person just doesn't sell sadly.
I diss agree. Its actually pretty accurate to people I have known with trust issues that standoff behavior. The game does a great job of slowly showing her change. Even in the end she still struggles which is pretty realistic.
To the black woman thing tho. I heard enough people even someone in my comments said a black woman in this setting is an agenda. They deleted the comment or blocked me cause I don't see it anymore.
Thing is though, in theory there is nothing wrong with a character been an ass. A tough cookie New Yorker character can easily work - just look at Max Payne - and a story where a ‘street rat’ is exposed to a fantasy world and how they change one another would be interesting… I just think that people find the black boss bach character grating and played out. I wonder if they had made her more vulnerable and showed that her bravado was a mask she wore to protect her, if it would have connected with people more?
Interesting points, and I can see what you mean. Maybe I'm not compatible with her, like throughout the game, while I was feeling sympathetic and sorry for the people in the city, she just didn't care one bit, despite having nothing to go back to in NY (We know what happened to Homer). At first I felt anger like Frey when they arrested her, but after awhile, I connected more with the people, and in the next moment Frey just semi-blame Auden father's death for screwing up her ticket out of here. I can handle grumpy pessimistic defensive characters - but not this.. whatever this is.

She has a hard time trusting but you see her wanting to but just can't yet. To stop from being sad over his death she focused more on not being able to leave. The truth is, this game is the result of a Japanese corporation leveraging politics and culture to make a product for Western audiences as they understand. It isn't even real Western wokism, its an interpretation of it as the Japanese see us. We do it too, like with Ghost of Tsushima. Except that game is universally loved by both Western and Japanese audiences. This game, on the other hand, was farted out by a corporation and dev team who didn't understand who they were making a product for. Which, ironically, is the same mistake Western corporations do over and over again.

A review that doesn't bash one of the few games I platinumed this year? What is this craziness. The combat, the graphics, the visual style and feel of the world, the parkour and the music in Forspoken are all absolutely delightful. Yes, Frey can be a bit jarring with her attitude but eh, she's had a life and her attitude reflects her past. Yes, the banter between her and the cuff can get a bit repetitive, but just tune it down or turn it off if it bothers too much. And yes, the world is void of other people, and even though there is a lore explanation for it, it would've been nice if there was at least one other city or town somewhere out there. It's not a perfect game, I struggle to find one that is, but it is a definitive highlight of my gaming year for damn sure.

I'm playing this game right now and I'm really enjoying it. The game play and game mechanics are great. Clearly a huge amount of creativity and talent has gone into making it, so it's not deserving of some of the hate it has recieved. My only criticism is that main character 'Frey' swears way too much, otherwise she is really cool and the story is good.

I liked the game. I rarely beat games and I beat this one. I went into it knowing the voice acting was kind of cringey so I switched it to Japanese and Sub and it was fine. The only bad things I can say about this game is the intro is very slow and exploration isn't rewarding... like you'll climb up a mountain and open a chest only to get crafting materials

Even I after playing the demo felt the gameplay was odd but that's because in the actual game you slowly get to know how to play vs the demo that places you far into it.

Streamers making fun of the game killed it. Because most casual gamers don't have their own opinion. If some PewDie praised this game it could outsell most games last year.
Battlefield 1 had a black soldier on the front cover, nobody cared, the game was still well received and had high reviews. Blaming racism for a game failing is a cop out. If a game is good people will buy it despite the political agenda. Like Mortal Kombat 11, full of woke nonsense but the game was still a hit.
The stand alone Mile Morales game flew off the shelves.

Forspoken before it released was bashed by many because yes today to alot of people a black person in a setting they believe is for white people is "woke". Now, I will say this, it's not ultimately the reason why ppl hated the game, but you have to be smart enough to realize that when ppl will see a black woman on the cover of a game, they will initially assume it is for woke points. So, that will already be a strike for a game. I definitely won't defend this game, but you have to be honest about certain things that will happen due to these woke politics. Also, I'll admit, I also saw a few comments bringing up frey's race. Things like what I was saying "well, she's black, guess it's going in the woke direction!" and things like that. 🤷🏾♂️

finally! when i first saw this game I was like whoaaa looks so good looks like so much fun, and then saw some reviews and everybody was like, yeah the gameplay is fun and the traversal is fun and the character is interesting but the narration just won't shut up! so it's a bad game.. But I like goofy ah narration and fun gameplay, I rather have some weird narration than just ambient sounds for hours like in ubisoft games... IDk man need to ty it for myself first but finally someone saying it's a good game, because I felt it's good , it looks amazing so idk
Thanks for watching. As for the narration it's about as frequent as any other game. Maybe even less cause the main character isn't talking to herself to remind the player of something. They talk during story and in gameplay you will hear combat banter but that's it.

This type of game is right up my alley, but the writing alone turned me away from it...
Why is so much media in these last 5 years or so plagued by inexplicably bad writing?
I haven't heard anyone say anything about the protagonist's identity or representation, tho I'm sure such losers exist. Vast majority seem to agree that it's a solid game but not great, and that the writing / main character are a big turn off
The story being told I felt was great. I understand that she can come off negative but the story gave a understandable reason for it along with her growing past her issues. If you ever played Days Gone that character also rubbed people wrongly but again I feel if the writers explain why someone behaves an unpleasant why while watching them grow its fine.
I would never pay full price for this but it doesn’t look like a bad game.

nice to see some positivity for this game. It got assassinated by mob mentality real bad, I had a ton of fun with it and theres nothing quite like it with the combat and traversal. I had hoped for a sequel to improve upon what was an already really solid start to a new IP, but now we won't get that cause of sales.
Maybe we will still get a sequel hopefully

I honestly like what I see from the game, EVEN THE DIALOGUE. But the game sucks, only because it's on PS5, and I don't wanna bother building up a PC just to play a modern game that will barely be the same experience or won't be the same as playing on a PS5. Soooo, I like the game, just hate it that I can't play it. I can buy The Last of Us Part II right now for PS4, but after EVERYTHING I have seen of the game, I'd rather play Final Fantasy XIII-2, AND I HATE THAT GAME. AND IT'S SEQUEL.

@@breakthecode4634 his opinion isn't right neither is mine. Personally if you gave me a bad game for free I'm not going to magically think it's good cause i personally paid nothing for it. Price is always a factor but seeing as people that never played the game are comparing it to literal garbage I find it hard to believe that garbage becomes good because the price is cheaper
I am one of those people that enjoy this game, definetly far from my favorites but it's some good fun. Though I heavily dissagree with some points, like, this gaming not have sensory overload? Countless times I was going to the main mission but was also putting 3-4 pins on map to create a good route for collecting stuff but was also distracted by all the materials thrown around and mana. I mean, if there is a game that overloads you with stuff to do, it's this one.
I think we just see it differently. I felt it wasn't much distracting me. Mana might be the only thing but often it was on the way to where I was going and touching it was not enough to take me from my objective
This is why I have my own mind !! I’ve been gaming since 1998 and it’s hard for me not to like a game . I enjoy almost everything that comes out !! It was pissing me off when people were hating on this game because it’s a good game …

It's more Infamous than Bayonetta
Strongly disagree. Infamous is just a shooter. There really is no nuance un the shooting that similar to a combo bases action game
@Grimpachi other than the combo counter, it feels like Infamous. Especially Infamous 2 when he has dual powers, plus a grappling hook, the Amp, and quicker traversal. But I'm really enjoying forspoken, just made it to the halfway point. My only issues are Frye and cuff's banter repeats too often, I sometimes lose track of myself with all the clutter of effects, and treasure chest rewards are so underwhelming. Great

Its definitely wasnt ignored, it wasnt woke but the story for real wasnt the worst thing out there. But its a standard esikai and the main character has no character progression
Thank you for the view and comment but my fellow gaming brother or sister I'm going to have to disagree with the character progression part 😂. I felt her slowly getting over her trauma was well done. Even in endgame she is way more kind but still struggles cause it's not easy to get over a lifetime of depression
People act like being a homeless orphan for 21 years is something you should immediately get over. Like bro I still got trust issues from a girl who said she liked me just to eat my animal characters back in the 3rd grade. 💀

Hey guys. First I would like to say thank you all for watching the review and I hope you enjoyed it. Many may disagree with me and that's perfectly fine. But from one gamer to the next I'm telling you that many of us listen to the media and miss great games. I can't tell you the many great games I played that people trashed. Forspoken has a demo you can try BUT it doesn't explain how to play well. Despite that if like me you saw the potential in it I would say try the real game on a sale. When it comes to the story I really loved it. It has not "agenda" unless you think black people are an agenda. You can look at my channel and I have called out agenda pushing before but this is not the case here.
Everyone's opinion as long as you are being respectful to everyone is welcomed rather we agree or not BUT being honest if you didn't even play the demo or when it comes to the story you know nothing but that silly commercial and you let the public opinion sway you our conversation really won't go anywhere as you just don't know what I do.
I don't care if you rent the game 😂 I'm telling you if you enjoy games with complex gameplay like Bayonetta and love learning how to fight many enemies with their own complex attacks all while being stylish then Forspoken is for you.
If you like fantasy stories mixed with a well paced development of tragic characters that grow on you overtime kinda like Deacan St. John from Days Gone , another game I loved most crapped on UNTIL THEY PLAYED THE GAME THEMSELVES AND DIDN'T LET THE MEDIA TELL THEM WHAT TO DO 😂, you will also love Forspoken.
It’s crazy you say that because I’m currently replaying through the Bayonette games and having a great time, great video btw it has me rethinking my views on a few games I disliked

I wouldn't say that. I played both and that's a very simplified comparison. At that point might as well say it's any 3rd person shooter.

I’m a big, middle aged white dude with a flat-top so I’ve have had tons and tons and tons of representation in media since I started consuming it in the 80s so I have no problem if it gets weighted the other way for a few decades for balance.
But this game has fantastic design elements and 2 reviewers I’ve watched for years said the combat mechanics had much merit.
Also as a seperate thing, in 3rd person games I always grow to feel towards my characters the way I would about a machine or a tool or a car that I love. Sometimes almost like a pet.
They have an automatic dearness to me that is fun and makes me feel it more when the y get hurt and doesn’t matter if they’re a female or a male or whatever. I get an attachment regardless.
