Even in cricket there were some controversial decisions, most importantly the LBW ones, they added snickometre and ball trajectory system's and even then they added Review system per innings for both teams and to make it transparent the 3rd Umpire made it play on screen in front of crowd and even the communication for the ongoing decision. Now there's hardly any controversy even when the decisions are much tougher in compared to Football. This is how the trust of fans is restored and usage of technology optimised, and here in Football which is far easier they introduced VAR to curb down the human errors they have made it more complicated and controversial. My theory is that the PGMOL are tasked with making football in the PL as controversial as possible. The more "talking points" that can be ran up over every weekend the better as this creates engagement into the brand that is the premier league. They dont care what type of engagement it is, the outcome is the same.....More views, more hits, more buzz and engagement which ultimately means more money. It always has been and is about the money. For me, this is just the newest strategy for the PL to make more money. Do i think refs hold biases? Yes sure! But there is an underlying agenda to just create controversy in my opinion.
I'd like to see the proof of the online abuse as Michael Oliver isn't on any social media platforms but I think it's possible he's said this to cause a distraction of the underlying problems with him against Arsenal. The Kovacic incident at the Emirates, what happened this weekend, the Martinelli thing, the Xhaka sendings off.. It’s clear he has a bias against Arsenal, and he puts a cape on for City. There have been times, as a Liverpool supporter when I've had similar thoughts about referees after atrocious decisions against us over the last few years but that is only due to my emotions at the time. In reality, I do believe and have to remind myself that referees, while only human, are ultimate professionals and try their upmost to be fair and unbiased. Having said that, it could be said the standard of refereeing I this country isn't up to scratch but its a tough job and not a job I would do for any amount of money. As for Michael Oliver, the guy shouldn't be refereeing in the Premier league. Im not saying he is corrupt and I'm sure he does his job to the best of his ability but there is a clear conflict of interest what with him reffing games for man city owners in the uae. We have quite a physical team now that can also play, they are trying their best to stop us anyway they can (red cards, endless yellows for our players where on the same game, the opposition players aren’t even punished with a foul let alone a card), penalties for head clashes (Saliba), letting anyone take chunks of Sakas ankles, and poor Saka doesn’t even get a foul for it!

The David Coote situation has proven that referees do have professional likes and dislikes. This has clearly spilled over in to matches. Regency bias. Oliver dislikes Arsenal. It’s clear he referees us differently.
As an LFC fan I can relate to the conspiracy too much if you look at the decisions against us in title races and even last season! But nobody cared when it was us.. I doubt anyone will care now it's you but realistically we need independent bodies to govern the refereeing in EPL

The game vs Leicester Saka was fouled did was not shown a yellow, reason from ref was Saka was on the floor. Too many incidents to not consider Corruption within the PGMOL. Even in cricket there were some controversial decisions, most importantly the LBW ones, they added snickometre and ball trajectory system's and even then they added Review system per innings for both teams and to make it transparent the 3rd Umpire made it play on screen in front of crowd and even the communication for the ongoing decision. Now there's hardly any controversy even when the decisions are much tougher in compared to Football. This is how the trust of fans is restored and usage of technology optimised, and here in Football which is far easier they introduced VAR to curb down the human errors they have made it more complicated and controversial. It's absolutely misuse of it and corruption as even after so much backlash the PGMOL neither admits nor does it improve. 😊
My theory is that the PGMOL are tasked with making football in the PL as controversial as possible. The more "talking points" that can be ran up over every weekend the better as this creates engagement into the brand that is the premier league. They dont care what type of engagement it is, the outcome is the same.....More views, more hits, more buzz and engagement which ultimately means more money. It always has been and is about the money. For me, this is just the newest strategy for the PL to make more money. Do i think refs hold biases? Yes sure! But there is an underlying agenda to just create controversy in my opinion.
I'd like to see the proof of the online abuse as Michael Oliver isn't on any social media platforms but I think it's possible he's said this to cause a distraction of the underlying problems with him against Arsenal. Some of the other fans have said this but my gut feeling is that I don't think he has but more on the lines of angry fans that rightfully have spoken up. I think when fans spend there hard earned money to go to the games that they do reserve the right to speak out against injustice and foul play when it's been happening consistently. These bad decisions are consistent with Michael Oliver against Arsenal. I don’t think there is a conspiracy from PGMOL. It’s just Michael Oliver. These refs are human. They have their teams they support, so it’s not unusual to have one of them taking their hatred to another level.

Genuine question: Is there some hypocrisy from Laurie and Robbie and MANY fans who condemn online abuse, but openly admit they hurl verbal abuse to a Ref or players face to face, live from the stands.....?
In my mind shouting abuse directly at the person face to face is probably worse.... but it happens EVERY game...

If any grown, adult genuinely believes that there is a conspiracy against any club, you need to have a long hard look at yourself. It’s pathetic.
There have been times, as a Liverpool supporter when I've had similar thoughts about referees after atrocious decisions against us over the last few years but that is only due to my emotions at the time. In reality, I do believe and have to remind myself that referees, while only human, are ultimate professionals and try their upmost to be fair and unbiased. Having said that, it could be said the standard of refereeing I this country isn't up to scratch but its a tough job and not a job I would do for any amount of money. As for Michael Oliver, the guy shouldn't be refereeing in the Premier league. Im not saying he is corrupt and I'm sure he does his job to the best of his ability but there is a clear conflict of interest what with him reffing games for man city owners in the uae. I don't blame him, I blame the pgmol/premier league for letting him do so and not foreseeing the potential storm and conspiracy theories headed his and their way from clubs and fans who are dealt bad decisions.

What energy exactly? Most Arsenal fans said that was no penalty. Some of us even said missing the penalty by Odegaard was justice served.

In reality, should Arsenal fans be complaining for other teams when decisions go against them? Arsenal got an equalizer against Spurs from a corner kick that should have been a goal kick for Spurs. Most Arsenal fans admitted it was an error but VAR is not meant to check corner kicks.
We should all condemn poor officiating no matter which club is involved. I am an Arsenal fan and I know ref got it wrong with that penalty against Manchester united and the sending off of Dalot against Merino. Because there was no contact. Holding referees accountable no matter what team is involved may save our football.
Arsenal are treated very differently on and off the pitch. An example. Carragher calls Rice world class and England's best midfielder but the moment he signs for Arsenal he's no longer in the WC conversation. On the pitch, nobody can argue that there is a standard that Arsenal players are held to that no other team gets penalized for.
