Okay, so I'm a devout Christian.
I think what this customer did was TOTALLY uncalled for. I'm so sorry these are the kinds of people represent us. And I'm sorry you went through that class--you're a human, of course you deserve equal rights!
Sharing the love of the god we believe in is our mission--not shoving it down their throat, or trying to "fix" them--especially to LGBT folk. But for goodness sake we're not called to go around trying to convert strangers and tell them how to act--that's not our place AT ALL.
I resent the people in my community who form relationships solely to convert people. This comment will probably get a lot of hate--I get that. But I'm just so sorry that these kinds of people are the ones representing Christians. This isn't who we are.
Stef I hope you know you have lots of love, support, and no judgement from a Christian subscriber. Keep being you!

It's not hate that you're going to get, at least not from Christian's anyway!! I am also a Christian!! That said how do you know what the lady even said to her/him?? If you are a Christian then you should've known that we are called b GOD to tell people the gospel!! To plant the seeds the Holy Spirit Will do the rest! To try and save people from going to HELL!! We are NOT trying to CONVERT people to Christian's!! It has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with RELIGION, GET IT!!
If someone was walking into a burning building would you not try and stop them??? Well t is exactly what Stef is basically doing!! All that said.. maybe that last did go about it the wrong way, I DON'T KNOW AND NEITHER DO YOU, because you weren't there!! So stop apologizing for Christian's when you should be sticking up for them!!! THAT is why I DO NOT believe you are A REAL CHRISTIAN!! You only SAY you are when it is convenient for you to do so! Like around your OTHER so called Christian friends!!! I think you get it, now go rethink your christianity before you lose it altogether!!!
      **GOD BLESS YOU!!!**

It's crazy that people could be so rude and invasive. I am a Christian, and I think there's a time and place to talk about it when a person is open to it. But the way she came at you it was like she automatically assumed you were some lost soul purely based on the way you look. That's disgusting. I LOVE that you said people shouldn't push atheism too. I've been bullied the same way by atheists before. People need to live and let live. I think you're such a freakin' awesome person. :)

I agree with you, to an extent. As Christians, we are to live for Christ and have Him live through us. Yes, not all people want to talk religion or tell testimonials, but by living a joyful life knowing that Jesus is our savior helps emanate that from us. People see that we are different and I believe THAT is missional on its own.

It is pretty much my biggest fear to misgender someone or use the wrong pronouns! However I never know how to ask someone what pronoun they prefer because i'm scared people will take offense to just asking that question. In your experience whats the most polite way to ask?

    • @impuriia
      @impuriia 9 років тому +75

Tbh make sure you ask them one on one, never in a group of people. Just politely ask 'do you have any correct/preferred gender pronouns you'd like me to use?'

Yeah, if you don't know someones gender always use they/them or their name. But if you do know what pronouns they want used using they/them 24/7 is misgendering (not a lot of people know that so I thought I'd put that out there)

I was born into a family that followed a religion where one of the major requirements was literally trying to convert as many people as possible whenever the opportunity presents itself. Combined with their rule about actively shunning anyone who disagrees with their beliefs (even if they're family members), I started seeing just how wrong it all was only a few years ago, not because someone told me that it was, but because I realized just how much it infringed on other peoples' lives. I have seen families torn apart and lives left in ruins as a result of that setup, and I can tell you from personal experience that trying to force any system of beliefs on anyone never results in anything good.

+CoriSparks If I may ask, did you up in the Amish community? Or FLDS? Scientology, maybe? Sorry, just curious. I'm a student of research, and religion has been a big topic of interest for me. There are certain qualities I find amazing about certain Christian sects, but I could not live in a community wherein shunning was practiced. I'm sorry you've had to see this happen around you. I hope you have been more fortunate in your familial relationships.

Actually it was Jehovah's Witnesses. They're pretty much exactly like the LDS except they don't use any apocryphal texts and don't even let you celebrate holidays, get involved in politics and (sort of) don't let you go to college.

I was born into a community of jehovah's witnesses as well, and it definately did more damage to me and my sister(especially since neither of us are straight)than the good it promised. My mother was even violent and would take her anger out on us while my dad was at work, when we didn't fit into her idea of perfect. And then she as well as the rest put themselves on a pedestal for being so "kind" when they don't associate with people outside of their religion outside of minimal human contact. Anyway I'll stop rambling, just wanted to say it's nice to see someone who understands.

+CoriSparks that actually sounds closer to how I was raised in an organization called Opus Dei. I've recently come to the shocking realization that it's a cult within Roman Catholicism (despite many years being convinced that it wasn't). They try to convert everyone to Catholicism and make Catholics into members. While they don't openly shun people who disagree with their beliefs, since all the members but the priests hold everyday jobs, we were taught to look down on them and treat them with an almost, I don't know, fake niceness? I don't know how to describe it. And believe me, we were taught to be prejudiced against anyone that wasn't an Opus Dei member. So that's almost everyone.
Hell, the worst part is that: Even if you aren't a member (on any level), if you were raised in that society and almost your whole family is a part of it, there is still close to no escape. Especially since they have a base in every metropolitan area of the US (that i know of so far).

I think you are the first person I've seen in any youtube comment to declare that they are muslim. Seeing this made my day. Not to be weird about it haha! It's just that stereotypes really piss me off especially ones about gender identity, sexual orientation, and religion. Lately it's been really bothering me that people these days are making Muslims out to be enemies-- that they're unaccepting and hateful. Which is absolutely ridiculous! As if you can say anything negative about anyone based on their religion. Besides, it's the people who SAY those things who are hateful and unaccepting. They are blind.

    • @bisoubisou
      @bisoubisou 8 років тому +1

+Cassie Morris It is IMPOSSIBLE to force someone into believing Christianity. If someone is converted, it is because they felt inspired to do so. Nobody can make someone believe in a religion. Do really think African people are stupid and can't discern their faith for themselves? Everyone and anyone is called to Christianity despite race, gender, culture, sexuality or standing in life. It is not a "western" religion. It is universal. It began with a Jewish baby in a little manger in Bethlehem and has spread to every continent on the earth. Open your mind and your heart.

About 48% of the LGBT community in the United States identify as Christian. Unfortunately the ignorant masses will never understand what it means to be a gay/trans Christian. There are a lot of loving, understand straight Christians out there who will only show you love and kindness. Sadly there are also plenty who will tell you that you're a mistake. All you can do is genuinely pity them and if you believe, pray for them. 💜 Love your channel. 💜

hi! i had a question, and i really hope this doesnt come across as offensive, but you mentioned how you identify as male and therefore use male pronouns. in a situation when i see someone who might be male but dresses feminine/wears makeup/etc, how do i know which pronoun to use? :( i understand some might prefer female and some male, and i dont want to use the wrong one until i know what that person prefers but it seems ridiculous to be like "hi do i call you he or she?" when i first meet them! hope you get what i mean hahaha and i just randomly found your channel a few minutes ago, love you already :)

    • @StefSanjatiOfficial

When you don't know what pronouns people use and it's not a safe place to ask "What pronouns do you prefer?", it's usually best to avoid any gender specific words for them. For example, instead of saying he/him or she/her, say they/them. Hopefully that's helpful.~

Yeah*! Just today at my work I had a lady, in her 60's, tell me she was "amazed your able to run around out there, that once you leave work I'm suprised they dont arrest you!" And I was like,'what mama?' And she pointed to my hands which currently have an adorable manicure with rainbows and unicorns, like, each nail is a little different but same, and she then said "those nails ard outta control! I'm suprised they alow you to be like that" at first I thought it was a jokembc almost Everyone I spkke to had commented in a positive way, and she specifically said outside the office, so she didnt mean dresscode,, but Then, the third time she's stated this weirdass comment I realized, oh, its the rainbows, she thinks its gay pride. I then responded with,"well *name*, thankfully in THIS country we still have rights and the right to express ourselves", she shook her head and said, 'no, we dont' and walked away. I was very upset, first, because an ignorant person got offended by unicorns and rainbows , two, because its SUPER SCARY that people really think cops and authority have that much controll (they're tryin but not there yet), and also thirdly it pissed me off how judgmental she was once she thought I was gay. I'm not, but even if I were, after all the times I've helped her, all of a sudden Now, she couldn't even be bothered bc she thought I was into chicks. I work at a large Cardiologists office in Indiana, outside Chicago so there's a lot of drama going on in our state, more than normal, but still. Very scary the ignorance level todsy

Be exactly who you want to be and don't undermine anyone who has a different view point. Be respectful of anyone no matter what. There's no reason to even mention color, religion, gender, etc. Just respect everyone.
Thank you for being a face of equality! I hope to see many more of your videos and hope you make a stand (maybe more publicly) for equality for everyone!

oh geez, i feel you there
it's so freakin fuckin annoying when someone comes at me for any reasons with their religion pre made sentences like i need to find the light or something...
i'm like "yeah yeah whatever, i'm good with me doing me, i don't believe in this, so back off"
and they keep doing it !!!! "i feel sorry for your soul"
    and it never stops.
there is 2 options with religious people ! option one, that person believes and accepts you don't believe. option 2, that person believes and HAS to push it all the time towards people who aren't believers like it will make any difference.
you can't force anyone to do anything specially making them believe or making them stop believing.
and there's that annoying things about being gay and being lost like "god will heal you" ... i mean. HEAL really ? do they think being gay is being SICK then ? and like, i don't believe in god, so i need to be healed too ? XD that's just so so rude ...
and like those are the same person saying "god loves everyone" but then, you are not "fully" loved because you're not in their fuckin standard of what a human should be like or act like.
    bullshits.
anyone can just be who they are, that's the point here, if there's a god, then he doesn't care about how you were born or your gender or non gender or sexual orientation or skin color or anything.
yeaaah i'm quite passionate about this XD
Personally, 99% of the time, i will say "he" even if that perso has make up and long hair. You were born as a man, until you describe yourself as a transgender, then i suppose he/she can work. and the next step would be someone who fills like a different gender inside their own body (a woman with a man body), like gigi gorgeous. to me, she's a woman, period.
    Anyway ... i agree with you 100%

I completely agree! We live in what is considered the "bible Belt" of America and it is a rough place to live if you aren't a "good-ole-boy-southern-Baptist" ....especially if you are gay/trans. My oldest child is transgendered and we are in the early stages of learning how to deal with it all. I made a video about it right after Caitlyn Jenner came out because my Facebook exploded with some of the most hateful comments I have ever seen and they were coming from the ones who claim to be the best Christians. We had not told anyone that we were dealing with the trans thing at all so my video was a shock to some family members and one even came to our house (she had not been in over 10 years) to tell me that I was wrong for doing the video and I should have kept it a secret to protect my child. What? I did it the way that I did because we didn't want to have to sit everyone down one by one and explain the same thing over and over. We also didn't want to have to hide it any longer so in my opinion it was easiest and smartest to just get it over with in one single video. She told me that I shouldn't give up on God because if we prayed about it enough he would "fix" my child. I argued with her and she just kept saying I wasn't trusting God and I wasn't praying about it "right".........anyway, her husband had passed away and so I was able to use that to help her understand that things don't always get fixed. I asked her if she wanted him to die?...did he want to die?...did she pray about it?....did he pray about it?...did their church pray about it? Even with all that praying he still died, did he not? I think it helped a little for her to see it applied to a situation that she could completely identify with. I told her that we aren't praying about it because our child doesn't need fixing, or saving, or any other word one might choose to use. Our child is not broken....and the sooner people can stop trying to make everyone follow a set of rules they (Christians) have chosen to live by themselves, the better off our society will be. I'm still trying to figure out why Christians are so opposed to the legalization of gay marriage. If they don't believe in it...don't marry someone of the same gender......period. It's not that hard to understand and it honestly shouldn't even be an issue.

You are an inspiration. I grew up being bullied for being fat in middle school and high school and what the bullies didn't know was the reason why I was fat. I was doing trial and error with anti-psychotics and anti-depressants. Their side effects either made me very hungry all the time, or just added weight regardless how little I ate. It also made me less active. I was also bullied for being schizophrenic. I had constant delusions and hallucinations that were hard to ignore in hopes to keep the bullies at bay. I am so lucky that my family has been by my side since they realized just what was going on with me and how badly the bullying affected me. I became suicidal at age 10 and it lasted until I got the right medication finally and then met my husband. For a short while I was working on a blog and my own youtube channel to share with everyone what it is like being schizophrenic, truly. That schizophrenics can be coherent and intelligent. People never believed me when I told them that I am schizophrenic because of how well I can speak and write. They had no idea how badly they hurt me, which only added to the mental pain. Even teachers were mean and they didn't care that I was being bullied. Anyway, I went on a little rant there. But my point is, I would love to be as inspirational as you when I finally start my youtube videos again. I can't hold down a job without freaking out, being that I am always hallucinating, and my husband is on VA disability. So, when we have saved enough money for a decent camera, I plan on doing videos about the truth of schizophrenia and what it actually does to a person's life and their family's lives. And how you can still be happy regardless of all the horrible thoughts and visions that are never ending.

Hey Stef, I found your video really enlightening and interesting. I myself am a Christian, and I used to be that sort of person that went out "door to door" so to speak, handing out gospel tracts and telling people in a very over-zealous way, of the love God has for them. my spirit and feelings on the matter have not changed, but my ways of sharing His love with others have. I realized a while back that people don't usually take that, "catch em off guard" tactic very seriously, let alone actually take it to heart. but anyways, my point in this comment is just to share with you what my mindset was at the time, so next time when this happens to you, which it inevitably will, you can look at that person's heart and intentions a bit differently. I went door to door, gospel tracts in hand, not to condemn others, or insult them...quite the opposite. I cared deeply for them, and feared their going to hell. It was my genuine concern that compelled me to hand them that tract or speak of God's love for them on a street corner, not hatred. I know it probably didn't come off that way, but that was my intent. I now do things much differently, because my walk with God has developed and changed greatly. I now show God's love mostly by loving and accepting others just as they are. that doesn't mean I agree with everything they say, do or believe, but it means I'm not there to change them. I'm there to love them. anyways, I just wanted to show you a little peak into the outlook of a good bit of the people that share their faith in such a direct manner. it's not that they hate you, they're either afraid for your soul, so overjoyed by their relationship with God that they can't help but share it with you, or both. and don't get me wrong, there are people who are hateful and judgemental and do that out of cruelty, I'm sure. but not all people who share their faith are like that.
    much love, Gem

random youtubing led me to your page and I was watching some of your videos, and I just wanted to say, you made a really good point at around 4 minutes in. You said it really fast...so I actually paused it to let it sink in and went back and rewound. Deep! Paraphrasing, but you were saying people who feel the need to tell others how to live their lives, are people who are following what other people have told them too (maybe against what they want)...because if someone has found and does what makes them happy, they wouldn't feel the need to put down or tell others what to do. And you said it was that 100%...and damn that is a good point!! I hadn't thought of that before. But it is a reallllly good point. Wise. Kudos. I need to mull it over more. I like to think I'm all wise and crap but that was a new way of phrasing it that hadn't struck me before. I was thinking of things in my own life, and, it rings true just with there are some things that I like/enjoy that I'm sure others look down on. So when others do things that are weird or odd, even if I don't get it for myself, I'm like whatever, do it, and am very glad to see someone openly embracing it. I had a convo with someone about it once, she was one that fell in the category of bashes others probably because she restricts herself...and she pinpointed one person for doing something immature/weird and wondering why we all (friends/coworkers) tolerate it. And I'm like yeah but, I wouldn't want people judging ME for xyz, so frankly I'm glad to see her being so open about it and not caring what others think. So that's just a good example of that dichotomy you meant. And for the record, I was raised religious, and still am to an extent (def spiritual) and I don't give a flip what people do as long as it's not harming others. (Definitely don't care what they do gender-wise, whatever makes someone happy).

Jesus and God [both are the same] do not want humans to judge one another. That is their job, not ours. The Pope should not be judging people, yet he is. Jesus is a man, the Son of God, he is not a 'religion. It's just fine if you don't believe, after what she did [and all the other shitty people that judged you] it's no wonder you were instantly mad! I also think it's o.k. if I choose to believe in Jesus, which I do. We were told by Jesus to Love our Fellow humans, care for the hungry, sick and homeless. That's it!!! We are not to judge. This lady missed a huge opportunity to just give you all the kindness she could muster. We are all here together on this little blue Planet to care for one another. Stay strong, Stef!!!!! You are an inspiration to me as well as many others. Sincerely, a Christian Lady that makes lots of mistakes and I'm not as attractive as you are.

+Ellen Jefferies This "me an Jesus" thing doesn't work. Jesus clearly established a holy and apostolic Church for a reason. There's genius in Catholicism the way it works. Consider this: We all need guides sometimes, because we humans are terrific at deceiving ourselves. When you make your own personal "religion", you personalize it for yourself picking and choosing what you like and dislike, and while you think you're making it better suited to yourself for your own good, what you really start doing is creating God in your own image. That's dangerous territory. We are made in God's image only, not our own. God knows what's best for us, Jesus is God, so if Jesus decides that what we need is a Church that through it's work will guide people to him, why is that an issue? The Holy Spirit(aka God- because both are the same) works through the Church, and guides it's people. That's not to say that people who are part of God's Church are 100% perfect, because they are human beings and obviously make mistakes. However, God works through the Church and the Church bring people closer to him, and most perfectly through the Sacraments. The Catholic Church does more charity work than any organisation on earth, and has been this way throughout history. Needless to say, the Church is there specifically to guide people to God, but also to build the kingdom of God by carrying out Christ's work on earth. I don't know if you or anyone will ever read this, but I hope you learned something.

+NotMykl Jesus is one part of the Holy Trinity which consists of three persons 1. God the Father 2. God the Son 3. God the Holy Spirit. Each separate person is God but they only make up one God(not three) and they are not always equal to each other. Jesus is God but God is not Jesus. The Holy Spirit is God But God is not the Holy Spirit. It's a very complicated concept to grasp partly because it makes no mathematical sense. St. Patrick explained it by using a clover as an example. A clover has three distinct separate leaves but together they make up one clover. How do we know there is such thing as the Holy Trinity? It's not a rational truth- it is a revealed truth. In short, you can rationalize that there is or is not a God if you were trapped alone on an island but you cannot rationalize that there are three persons in God. This truth has to be revealed to you from an outside source. Again-it's complicated Loads of hundreds of year old philosophy and theology. but I hope I did an ok job explaining!

Just to clarify, Christianity is not about you. It's not about being happy with just yourself. The main teachings are to love OTHERS and praise the Lord, it's not about the self. Christians believe that there is one way to eternal life and happiness, as well as living your life a certain way may make you miserable. That woman (most likely) only said that to you because she loves you and would rather risk making the situation awkward than saying nothing. At least what she's supposed to do. Don't think she's "forcing" anything on you, she just cares about you. That is part of her faith and Christians should never remain silent according to their faith. There will never be peace if you expect us to say nothing, because that goes directly against our faith. Also, just because there are other faiths does not mean they're all correct. You have to study them on a very deep philosophical level and you see then that there is one true faith. Good day :)

+Sia Lee Unfortunately, what you're saying is that it's ok to force religion down people's throats when they aren't interested. I don't care what Christians believe, they shouldn't violate other people's space or thoughts with their religion. Don't you think everyone is already fully aware of Christianity? It's not like you need to tell us, WE ALREADY KNOW, so thanks anyway. There are so many other ways to help people without being heavy-handed with religious intolerance. Go feed some homeless people, or be a Big Sister to a kid in need. DON'T tell random people that Jesus is their salvation, most especially for the reason this video was created. Just don't. You're only doing it for yourself in the end, so you can say "Well Jesus, I TRIED." No you didn't. You damn well didn't try and HE will know it. Figure it out, because it's people who do this kind of garbage that are driving others AWAY from Christianity.

    • @ccrox83
      @ccrox83 9 років тому +10

Cherry Noire Actually, I'd hardly call letting someone kniw your side of things "forcing" something down her throat. If you think Christians shouldn't evangelize and try to spread the word, you believe there should be restrictions on the practice of our religion. All we're doing is talking to people, we're not forcing anyone to do anything. And those who are are not practicing the religion they think they are, those people are hypocrites and aren't true Christians. Honestly I could say the same thing about gay people. I could say they're "violating" my space by holding hands or kissing in public. I could say they're shoving their beliefs down my throat by doing that. You see how that works? You're basically saying that Christians can be Christian UNLESS they're doing something that makes you uncomfortable, then it's not ok. If you want restriction on the practice of religions, you can move to the Middle East. But here in America we actually do have the right to evangelize and try to get people to come to church. And no I don't think that you're fully aware of what Christianity stands for and what Christians are trying to do when they say Jesus is your savior. You may think you do but if you studied the religion you may vome to find there are so many things you had no clue about. Also, donating time and money to help people in need is a very common Christian practice, we do both. What is more important to us though is at least letting you know that you can be saved, rather than being damned. As well as being happy, because when you follow the Lord you come to find your life is infinitely better, and we want that for everyone.
This demonstrates how much you actually don't know about our religion, if we know that someone is doing something that will send them to hell, and we don't say anything, then the blood is on our hands. It is actually a requirement to try and save people, and no it's not because we don't want to feel guilty or we want to get into heaven, or we want God to be happy with us. It's because we love everyone and we will not settle for less thanat least trying to see everyone happy. If we do evangelize for selfish reasons, rest assured we will not only live our lives internally unhappy, but we will also be damned.

You are forcing someone to listen if they are an employee of a shop, and they can't tell you to STOP IT, for fear of losing their jobs. When was the last time a gay person came in to your place of business and talked to you about their point of view? Not ever. Think about what you say before you say it. You see how that works? There was context here. And if you can't stand the sight of two consenting adults holding hands, you've got bigger problems than I could ever deal with. I don't mind if Christians wear crosses or talk about their Sunday at church, but when they try to change someone else's very core of who they are, I have a problem with that. No one invited you to do that to them. And by the way, I was a Christian most of my life. I know plenty about it, Bible study was one of my favorite things when I was younger. Never assume anything like that about anyone, you don't know. You don't need to preach at people. We've already heard it, we KNOW your message loud and clear, it's everywhere, we can't escape it.

Cherry Noire Ok I see. So you believe that our right to practice our religion should be removed? You believe our freedom of speech should be restrained?
Being gay is not the same as being Christian. One is a choice of faith, the other is a personal issue that doesn't even require the involvement of anyone else (a thing you probably strongly belive).
I don't remember having to be asked to speak.
I assumed nothing about you, I inferred because you clearly do not understand that in order to believe that we should not and do not have the right to simply speak about our religion, you believe we have no right to practice our religion, and that is oppression. Its seems also that you don't understand that a Christian cannot be a Christian if they remain silent. I used it as an example, however I don't believe that gay and trans people are forcing and belief or way of life on me, and though I don't agree with them, I wouldn't complain if they were trying to get me to agree with them. They have that right. I hear it and see it everyday and everywhere. Everyone is talking about gay and trans rights, I personally know 5 trans people and am close friends with bi and gay people. Every single person I talk to believes that my beliefs are evil, because I don't think being gay or trans is ok. One of my friends constantly talks about gay rights, others even make fun of Christianity. That's also happening all over the place. Don't you think if anything THESE are the beliefs being shoved down people's throats? At least you get a break from Christianity, I see things about gay and trans absolutely everywhere, and I am a demon for having my own opinion.
But I still don't say anything, I am content in my beliefs and if someone is trying to change that I will listen and consider what they have to say, and if I disagree, I disagree. Because they aren't "forcing" me to do or believe anything. Rather than complaining that Christians have a right to speak and freely practice their religion, maybe try just politely saying you disagree?
Apparently it's not enough for you to agree to disagree, you have to take it a step further and say we are evil for speaking to you about something you don't like.

I absolutely love how you ended the video, I laughed so hard I cried and I approve so much.
Also I was raised in a religion that's known for pushing our beliefs on others at any opportunity possible, so I get both sides of your story so well. I think you handled it very maturely and even though I'm not religious anymore I do believe people should be allowed to believe whatever they like and live they're life accordingly as long as they don't force they're beliefs on others (that includes hurting others or persecuting them in the name of their religion).

is it rude to ask what pronouns to use? (this is a sincere question, not meant to sound passive aggressive). I'm transgender and I personally like getting asked my pronouns just because I am dysphoric a lot and it's like YES I CONFUSED THEM, I KIND OF LOOK LIKE A BOYYYY!!! If someone politely says "Hi, I don't want to use the wrong pronouns. May I ask what they are?" is that okay? is it just the way it's said or is it the entire question that bothers you?

I'm a born again Christian, have been for 34 years. Every Christian I have ever heard talk has the most judgmental condenming ways because, they believe God made people's flesh bodies and He didnt. Ur parents human flesh and DNA did, God only made Adam, Eve and Jesus' flesh bodies and God told both Adam and Eve, "u" go out and multiply, "u" make the flesh bodies, "I'll" knit the person as a spirit (that is perfect and blemish free) in the mothers womb". Because most Christians do "not" understanding this, it's very difficult to say to any person, "God created Adam and Eve, they sinned, that seperated them (and all of us) from God, so in order for all of us to be reconnected to God, God had to send his Son Jesus Christ to die for everybody's sins, then God rose Jesus from the dead so everybody can receive him as their personal Lord and Savior of anything and everything that goes on in ones life. And receiving Jesus is done by saying to Him, "Jesus come into my heart, forgive all my sins, I accept u now as my Lord and Savior and fill me with ur Holy Spirit". And that's all u do. At that point, ur good to go, because u feel and know u r connected back to God, and ur personal relationship with God and Jesus is private, it's ur business People r who they r, they do what they do in their lives. The thing God asks from all of us, is to not leave Jesus out of it.

+Catarina May OOOOH NO. I dont need to seek any help. NONE WHATSOEVER. I know that I know what I'm talking about. Any other God like the one I'm sure u THINK is the presence in YOUR life is from Satan. His job is to make u feel that until u receive Jesus. THEN AND ONLY THEN will u know u were deceived and involved with a false God. That's just the way it is. A good confirmation for u would be for u to click on to cbn.com and see the people who have died and gone to hell (and some went to heaven) and God brought them back so they can tell people like u about it. There is no other way to the REAL God except thru receiving Jesus. And I know hearing this convicts ur heart or is causing ur body to tremble. Any peace u feel in ur life is peace from ur own self and a false God. U wont experience real peace from the real God until u r connected to Him thru Jesus. I'M SORRY IT JUST ISNT ANY OTHER WAY. The only way u will know that is when u find out where u end up for eternity.

+Andrea O I was raised Christian and it never felt right. I never felt like it was real and I was extremely unhappy. I understand that you have your religion and that you are happy with it but that doesn't mean you have to tell someone that the things they believe are wrong. Yes I understand that it was wrong for Catarina to tell you that and this message is for her too but you could've been the better person and been polite. And telling someone that their beliefs are wrong is very rude. I realize that in some religions you try to "save" people but you don't have to tell them that they are wrong for what they believe, you could say something like "Jesus can save you" and then let the person be. Please just respect people that have other beliefs, even if you don't believe it. Have a good day.

I love you and I love your philosophies, but I just have one thing about this video...
It seems very contradictory to me. You say you're fine and you're chill and everything, but if that were true, then why did you get so worked up when she asked you? Not even when she brought religion into it, you got worked up when she asked what gender you were. If you were truly comfortable with it, wouldn't you just answer honestly? I don't think it's so rude to ask what gender someone is, especially if they're as comfortable with the subject as you are.
And obviously this is subjective and it may be that I just don't understand how you feel, but it just seems to me that saying things like "I'm comfortable with my gender" but then following it up with "I'd only be okay if you asked my gender in a hospital" seems to conflict with eachother. I guess it was just the situation in which she asked you? TBH I had the same question when I first saw your videos, but I wasn't trying to offend you- I just innocently was curious if you were male or female or if you would prefer something else.
I suppose I just can't understand how asking your gender is offensive if you know what you identify as and are comfortable with that fact. Or maybe you're not comfortable with it and I just can't read that?
I don't know. I'm sorry if I got anyone reading this worked up, this is just honestly how I feel about that part of the video! Really, I love this channel and everything and I agree with how he feels about religion and gender and all that, I just can't understand why he would only be okay if someone asked him is gender in a hospital. I know personally, as someone born female who identifies as female, I wouldn't be bothered if someone asked my gender. I might think they're stupid for not being able to tell, but I wouldn't personally be offended. Especially if it was a stranger who just paused to ask in a store as we passed. I don't know, I guess I can't understand it.

I totally agree? These days it's just difficult to tell coz so many people are transitioning and are are so many different stages of the process, so
sometimes when people ask they just wanna know what the person prefers to be identified as at the time, now the very same people asking the world to be open minded are closed minded when it comes to people like this girl and have no patience with them, this could have been someone from some little town with no exposure to any transgender person.....I completely agree that this video is very contradictory, if you want people to be open minded with your lifestyle then you need to be even more open minded to theirs as well

I appreciate a lot of what you said in this video. I am Christian and very religious but often times people view me as a stereotypical "christian" or "religious" person who is awkward and seeks every opportunity to force his or her religion on others. I really appreciate how you compared forcing religion onto others to forcing neglect of religion onto others as being the same and I totally agree.
I personally do not try to convert others to my religion. I try to keep my religion within my circle or friends and family who share my beliefs and occasionally to those who are open-minded. I'm just sharing my experiences because I like being an open person. I never suggested that you believe what I believe, I'm just letting you know what I'm into and what kind of person I am. You can't be my friend without knowing all of me, you know.
All in all, I just wanted to express my frustration with others and also my gratitude for you to have addressed this so openly and honestly in your video.

I'm a new subscriber. I love how your personality sparkles as vibrantly as your appearance does. I love your aversion to bias because I am also passionate about and greatly value being unbiased. I agree with you that every person should be treated with equal rights, respect and decency. I'm wondering, if no one should try to change the way you see things, isn't telling them that doing so is wrong basically trying to change how they see things? I mean, a lot of people misinterpret the Bible as saying it's our responsibility to share what it says to people who look like they don't follow it. It doesn't say that, but they believe it does and they are actually acting out of love by sharing (I don't mean condemning or being pushy by not backing off when it's clear a person isn't receptive). I mean, if they share once, then respectfully say (what I perceive as) my part is done, it isn't my place to be forceful, then back the ef off, I don't think they've done anything wrong morally because it was genuinely motivated by care. It's what they were taught is the way to express their care for humanity. If you tell them it isn't, is that telling them what not to believe? You believe you're enlightening them the same way they believe they're enlightening you. I'm so happy to hear you could contain your reaction, that was amazing. I'm serious. I do get what you're saying. I wholly understand being misunderstood. I know that since you could do that, you can also consider that it's not always out of selfishness that people bring their beliefs up. I'm truly thinking this could help you in your continual interactions with strangers. You have every right to take reasonable yet effective steps to get them out of your face if respectfully declining to agree with them doesn't do it. I think the respectful ones deserve as much respect as you, though, and not to be condemned for being mistaken about you being mistaken. I mean, treat them with the same care with which you'd wish to be treated as someone who is seen as mistaken. If they think you're mistaken and you don't, that's one thing. If you think they're mistaken and they don't, that's the same thing. You getting upset at their (perceived) mistake is the same thing as them getting upset at your (perceived) mistake. Who really is or isn't mistaken isn't the real issue, it's how each approaches trying to correct the other that is. All that matters is, do we respectfully back off when we recognize non-receptiveness? What is our motive in offering correction? In reality, the only time we should share our understanding is when we think it has a good chance of helping. If we can see that the motive is to help (even if they don't word it perfectly), and they're respectful instead of harassing, shouldn't we just say no harm no foul and be respectful in return?

  • @AndreaNowak777
    @AndreaNowak777 8 років тому +5

First I want to say I love your eyes....just beautiful! Second, as a Christian, it is our responsibility to share the gospel of Jesus with others. As a sinner myself I have hope in eternal life in Heaven after I die because I have accepted that Jesus died on the cross for my sins because He loves me (and the rest of the human population as well)! Of course just because I have Jesus as my Lord doesn't give me a free pass to just live as I please....my life must be pleasing to Him and give Him glory. Either way I will be judged someday for everything I do or don't do with the knowledge I have. Jesus said to love your neighbor as yourself. God does not make mistakes! However this world is a fallen world and bad things happen, and evil does exist. My point is I may not agree with, or approve of, the life choices of the LGBT community....I am still obligated to show them love and treat them with respect since they too are created in the image of God. Anyone who claims to be a Christian and does not have this love and compassion in their heart will be given an eye opener when Christ returns to collect those who are His. True Christianity is not so much about religion as it is about a relationship with Christ! They will be known by their actions and how they treat other people!!!

The thing is, part of being Christian is to share the gospel. It's not about trying to fix you or anything it's just it's literally part of what we do. You like to educate people about makeup and your gender identity because that's what matters to you. This is what really matters to us and she wasn't being bossy or trying to shame you. She didn't mean any harm and she wouldn't want you to be angry about that (hence why she was so calm). As for Africa, they are actually the nation where Christianity is strongest and the people are so passionate about that. Contrary to popular rumour, God never says gays are going to hell or any of that nonsense. That is literally never ever in the Bible anywhere. Idk what you believe but you are loved. As a Christian I know that God loves you and I'm not trying to shame you or "fix" you. I think you're lovely and you seem really nice. I also saw your videos of your transformation(is that right?) so it's very interesting for me to see your "old" videos ... I think you have an increadible personality and you are beautiful (I love your hair!) I'm really sorry for my messed up writing and I hope that you stay this wonderful happy and funny person you are! PS I'm agreeing with you that religion should be something personal and that christians shouldn't try to "invade" other cultures to make them like western culture because these people are not like we are they are independent and they lived like this for hundrets of years and they are probably very happy how things are. I'm personally beliving in god but how I already said I wasn't raised like this and I would never try to confince anybody to join christianity. I don't think that people who don't believe in Jesus are bad people I mean I can't poof that god exists so why should I be mad at anybody who doesn't believe it? But this was not why I originally started writing so just know that I think your incredible and keep on doing what ever it is you enjoy!

This is my second time watching this. I watched it when u first posted it and again just now. I've been following u for awhile. That being said , ur absolutely correct. I am a Christian . I'm not one who goes and tells ppl what they are doing are wrong. I have a sort of open Christianity view on things. My best friend is gay, and I curse like a sailor. I'm actually trying to stop that part though ... Anyway , religion is difficult. My husband is African and we as Western Christian's ( I know ur Canadian ) assume so much about third world countries. Our religions clash like crazy but some how we make is work . We have almost come to a point at the beginning of our marriage where we were going to divorce because of it. U can not push ur ideals and beliefs onto other ppl, even loved ones. Anyway, I know this is long but wanted to write it . Btw u have grown so much over the years . It blows my mind! Love u girl! ( Those of u who don't know she is now identifying as a trans woman)

Thank you!! This video perfectly captures why we need to let everyone do their own thing, and be kind to one another. I think the only permissible question would be how you made your hair that colour - it's BEAUTIFUL!!!
