I am so sick of that stereotypical Darkglass, Dingwall modern bass tone that is never heard in more modern metal recordings. I want organic growl like this in a djent recording please!
There's definitely some kind of doubling effect being used here. It's sounds like he's playing chords on every note, but true chords on a P-bass wouldn't sound like this. Surprising amount of room sound for bass, but probably not for Kurt Ballou.
I'd love to if you can find them! These 3 multitracks (Under Duress, Aimless Arrow, Reap What You Sow) were released for the Isolate/Create project, not sure if there are any other official Converge multitracks available.
Holyshit nate's tone is freakin brutal !

Same. All modern metal bass currently is super "twangy" and sounds the same.
Yeah I fucking hate the darkglass tone, sold my B7K because of this. I mean it's fine but overused and you love it or hate it

Could it be chorus or the overtones?
He is using 2 amps simultaneously, with different level of distortion
Uses 2 different 200 watt orange heads.. an AD200b into 8x10 and a thunderverb 200 into a 2x15. This is all his tone.
Could you do any Jane Doe isolated tracks?
