Just a great opening, from start to finish. The music is impeccable, the sights are beautiful and the water looks so inviting. One of the greatest openings to any show of any era, IMHO.
@@emmalancaster2013 And in the very first scene of the first episode, we get our first look at Sonny Crockett / Don Johnson, as the camera pans up slowly from his shoes to that gorgeous face. I've had a crush on him ever since the show premiered in 1984 ♥️🔥
Your volume setting is way too low, even with my speaker set on high. Miami Vice had the most iconic theme tune in television history. It was the forerunner to the modern cop shows that followed such as Law & Order and CSI franchises.
The weird thing is, these opening titles are very similar to those of the classic Hawaii Five-0 TV show, and if you play them side by side, beat for beat, cut for cut, they sync up almost exactly. There are videos here on UA-cam that demonstrate the fact.
Miami Vice's pilot episode, made as a two-hour TV movie, did not originally have a theme, but the musical sounds and notation that would become the theme were present as background score. When the series got picked up, Hammer created the 60-second version of the theme. The synth-guitar lead was missing in the aired version of the pilot and the first batch of episodes, and this unfinished version of the theme has remained attached to those episodes, even on the DVD video box set released in 2005.
Cutting edge at the time. There weren't too many theme songs hitting the billboard charts, much less at #1. I believe there were two others. •Theme From "Swat" & •Welcome Back Kotter
Hearing and watching this reminds me of those days as a kid. And, this kicking off every Friday night. Watching Night Tracks on WTBS. And, then switching back and forth to NBC for Friday Night Videos till 3am. Then, waking up on 8am to watch Spider Man & His Amazing Friends and Dungeons & Dragons. Only Gen X kids understand this. 🤘
At first when I started watching this about a year ago. I really wasn't digging the theme all that much... dude! Now it's one of God's greatest gifts 😄 I hear it and I get so excited. I love seeing the race cars, that Jai Alai player launcher the ball, the shot of the woman's butts. It's got everything a man needs
Cops and robbers on TV ! He he ! We used to use the same phrases when we played in our towns streets / back yards (there was hardly any traffic). It’s a bit of “Dukes” naïveté with Versace/Michael Mann taste for style, so, it worked for me then , I was 8. (!) (Could they reinvent the cops and robbers storyline in today’s TV?) we also collected fast car cards as I remember… Both stars looked to my eyes as gypsies because they were tanned , loud and because they accentuated their masculinity. But gypsies are always charming isn’t it so? Nostalgic eyes…👁️👁️ aaaaaa….
The Miami Vice theme is the greatest TV theme of all time ♥️😎
second only to S.W.A.T opening theme.
Genau mein Satz ( Gott ich hätte gerne eine Zeitmaschine)

Sopranos theme best intro song
The more time passes i realize miami vice is a masterpiece. 🔝❤️
I came to that conclusion back in 84 or 85 when watched the pilot on the b.b.c, Miami Vice is my favourite t.v series.
Aah the memories and the 80's.
Over 30 years later (hard to believe that) & it's still hands down my favorite & the best intro to any show.🕶🌴
I agree! In September 2024, it will be 40 years since the show premiered in 1984. It never gets old and neither do Don Johnson and PMT 🔥♥️

I can hear it fine, but the ending is definitely louder 😎
Probably the best opening for a T.V. show ever.
MASH was pretty good too
I liked Moonlighting and The Wonder Years (season 6 version). Crime Story had a good opening too.
S.W.A.T.
Charlie's Angels too
Wiseguy had a good one too
Magnum PI
Iconic
I still love the theme and the show
"Freeze! You're busted, pal!" - James "Sonny" Crockett
👍👍😊
The show that never gets old and the best theme song ever.
The best intro ever! ❤️
Loved this show
I love this theme song and opening scene so much. ❤️😍🥰
In HD? Awesome!
In Stereo!
Still a BANGER

The greatest
Can barely hear it
Ascention of mankind.
I should watch this every day before training...for the testosterone boost
They never say who were those two model chics in the bikinis.....they're as iconic as the show...😁
There was rehearsal outtake of the two girls wearing Miami Vice crew jackets that made it into an episode by mistake but was later edited out.
Almost as iconic as the lady at 0:15🙂
And they're probably grandmothers now
it sounds like the miami supercops intro, to some degree.
it's not blatant.
Edit: both are very good.

It’s hilarious how much louder the theme is at the end compared to the actual video. Also, this is not the theme from Brother’s Keeper, js
When Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino on the Miami Dolphins
Who were the two girls in bikinis at the end of the opening?
Miami Vice is about as 1:18 cending
I would love to know who the girls in the bikini’s are.
Philip Michael Thomas...an unfortunate set of initials...
