This was a God send. I literally was trying to figure out what I can do over my microlocs, as I'm getting that "itch" 😅. I'm locked for almost 2 years as well. I love my locs, but I am a bit bored.
Thank you for sharing. They turned out pretty. As someone else mentioned it would be nice to have an update when you take them out or even just before too. Showing how the hair changed over the days. And how your locs felt after the take down. I did box braids on my daughters locs for the first time. She is experiencing a bit of dry scalp at the moment. I did about 3/4 locs per braid. I expect we'll take them out after two weeks. I'm hoping the integrity of the locs are intact. My daughter has 250 locs for approx 18 months.
@Ifeyinwa I had to take out my daughters braids on the end. She lasted 8 days. Her scalp started really itching, especially after we went swimming. Not sure if she's allergic to the hair.
I currently have Marley twists on my microlocs and to be honest, I've felt some tension on my scalp as well. Moreso along the edges. I honestly think it's because I've gotten used to having no tension or pulling whatsoever on my head that I feel even the slightest pull. I noticed that whenever I've gotten braids my locs stretched out a bit, otherwise, no major issues. Enjoy yours❤️
@@AngelicaAngel888_ i hear you completely. I love a cute style on my head. Here's my suggestion, you can use it or not, wait until your retie/retwist is about a week-two weeks old (this timeframe works for me, could be shorter or longer for you) and THEN style your hair. I find that there is a lot less tension while my hair still looks "new" enough.❤
Hey Ifeyinwa, I tried braids on my hair in 2023 too but I figured that my scalp was way to sensitive. I’m still tempted to braid my hair but I don’t think it’s worth the pain and hair loss. So I tried crochet braids this time and it was way better.
Love the hairdo. I’m just 5 months in and I don’t know when I’ll feel like having braids on my locs. My hair is pretty full and braid days always took forever. I can also imagine that they would be quite heavy. Maybe I’ll think about it when my locs are about 2 years in but right now it doesn’t seem like what I’d like to do. Please share the take down video and how your locs react. Since you’re pretty caring for your locs I’m hoping there minimal to zero damage ❤
Love these braids Ifeyinwa!! I’m definitely going to try this on my microlocs, I’m looking to your update video to see some tips on what you would do differently. 🫶🏾🫶🏾
This is great, thank you for sharing.Love your honest feedback but it looked so good on you🥰.Its good to know there are ways to switch things up if I eventually go down the sister locs journey.
I kept my box braids for 6 weeks over my sister locs. The major difference I see is that you didn’t have a fresh retie. I retied my hair 1 1/2 weeks before I got my braids. I didn’t feel any tension until that 6th week mark which is identical to when I need a retie anyway because of the new growth. If you decide to get braids again, I’d definitely suggest getting a retie 1st. Hope this helps! And they were very pretty on you❤
I've had my locs in for almost 3 years and I've not done anything shut them. I was contemplating doing braids over my locs, but my consultant recommended to do them on freshly retied hair. So the base is stronger to hold the locs. I haven't had anyone wash my hair either. I miss that.
I love your hair. If you have not taken your hair down yet can I suggest tha you try using moose on your hair. It could possibly help the tangling but also keep the curl pattern
*mousse* will just cause a ton of build up in her microlocs. Good luck getting that out. Locs is hair tangled upon itself. Product stuck in there? I mean okay...
I'm only 2 weeks into my microloc journey and wanted to get your thoughts on wearing wigs? Your box braids came out gorgeous but it wouldn't be an option for someone like me due to weight (my hair is very fine). I haven't seen anyone on YT or IG mention wigs yet, does it hurt locs in some way? Thanks for documenting your experience ☺
These turned out great! I recently did micro locs with soft afro kinky to test if I would like it on my own hair first. Also what's the name of the designer resell website or app that you were looking to get your Bottega bag from a few vlogs back?
The style turned out really nice. I hate that the curly hair didn't last. I know some people just use synthetic crochet hair, and it lasts depending on the curl.
So sorry it's matting so quickly. Such a shame as I've used synthetic hair for curly pieces and it's lasted at least 3 weeks before I cut those bits out
UPDATE: I took my braids out after 6 days y'all, watch this video for the update! ua-cam.com/video/Kbnk4I6J3-Q/v-deo.html 😭
I kind of figured you would, between dealing with that and the matted hair.
@@nellinblue33 girl I have very little tolerance for hair stress now 😩
I'm so glad as I was pretty worried for you. Thanks for making this video, it was very insightful and educational!
Can’t wait to see the take down process
I figured you would have taken them out bc I braid my mircolos into plats and even that hurts lol 😭 but they were pretty while they lasted.
It’s so wild how length changes our faces. Looking great!
thank you! 💕

THIS! I couldn't deal with the pulling / tension at all.
I wonder if that's what's causing the dryness and slight irritation for my daughter with the box braids over her micro locs.
I was wondering about the tension. Since being locd my scalp is more sensitive to braids. It's frustrating because I love my 2 French braids lol.

It turned out so beautiful. Saw it on instagram and I gasped at how good the braids looked. It's unfortunate that the tension was a lot.
I’ve installed braids over my microlocs twice. I’ve find that passion twists were a lot more of a lighter/comfortable option.
thank you for the tip!
You are really having fun 🇳🇬 🎉
Been waiting to see this, liking and commenting before I even watch, you loook tewww good❤
I think you should try a frontal bob install next 🥹please!
Girl, I stopped in my tracks when I saw that thumbnail 😮 so excited for this style
Thank you lovely ❤
Nice I think she did a nice job.
Have you thought about cutting of the curly hair and crochet human hair to the braids ? The outcome looks so beautiful on you ❤️❤️❤️
This is so smart and thank you!

The hair looks beautiful.
Thank you so much!
🤩 This is stunning!😍
Oh wow, I’m so interested in hearing about your decision to do this. I can tell they came out beautiful!
Thank you! It was a pretty spontaneous decision as I couldn't get a Retie Appointment until the new year!
would you recommend having a fresh retie for these or does it work fine without?

That makes sense but that would hurt more no?

Please where is Abigail located in Nigeria
Sorry where is she located in Lagos
I don't know where she lives but I'd imagine she'd travel anywhere in Lagos. Give her a call!
After 6 days?! It must’ve been a nightmare for you. Nonetheless, the braids were gorgeous!!!

I learned the hard way that you have to use human hair for the curly parts, otherwise it will matt beyond belief.
