I just made few new tips and tricks covering first few month of gameplay. (v21 stable, veteran diffuculty) Xenonauts - Guide - Early Invasion Tips And Tricks
Hi Danny Mcdoggy ! For best results fight the air battles yourself. Only if you are 100% certain the result would be victory, use the autoresolve to speed up gameplay. There are few occasions that a autoresolve can even win a fight that would other means result into a lose. Also making a save at beginning of waves, is a superb idea! Enjoy you gameplay! I might have to capture some more xenonauts air combats with updated gameplay :)
The air combat shown here is somewhat selective. Scouts, the second type of alien craft you'll encounter, can outrun Condors on the map, so Foxtrots become critical for successful intercepts with their much higher speed and range in the first few months. It also has better radar, so there's half a chance it can hunt down UFOs causing mayhem outside your bases' radar coverage (just don't send it after anything that says "airliner shot down" or "military aircraft destroyed"). Later it will still fill the "anti-ship" role doing most of the crunch damage, leaving Condors and Corsairs to tackle escorts and clean up.
Thanks for posting!

Hi, thank you for making these videos, very helpful. Quick question, would you recommend manually fighting all air battles?

I love this - really helpful.
Foxtrot seems to be useless in early game.
Arguable
On the contrary, it becomes useless later on when everything can just slug missiles.
