    HC-4 Stallion here, was in Sigonella from 97-01. Glad to see others working with the MH-53E. Fly safe and ground pounders keep it flying with dailys and turn arounds and phase inspections not to mention panel parties.

      @@photo01aviation LOL oh man do I have some. Once we duct taped a new butter bar to the port side fuselage, for talking crap to our Plane Captain in team Bravo. He was the duty officer one night, so we kidnapped him. Our C.O saw him in the hanger bay and took pictures standing next to him. We got a massive butt chewing from the CMC and XO, but the CO just tared up the paper work in our shop and winked as he walked out.

    When viewing from the front, It could go straight to an alien movie set as it is. Maybe the rotor head plus blades removed for disguise. Menacing beast of a machine!

    What a machine!!! We take the best of our nation's young men and women. Give them the very best training in the world. And then put them in command of the very best machinery in the world. It saddens me that our politicians today have absolutely no regard for the sacrifices these people make for this nation. I wish I could have served.

    Will we see an MH-53K "King Dragon" (modified CH-53K) replace this in time?

    Why do they stand outside the chopper during startup? What is that wire he's holding for?

    • @photo01aviation
      @photo01aviation  2 роки тому +3

      The aircrewman standing in front is known as the "long cord" and provides critical observation and commands to help us start engines, engage the rotor head, load and unload cargo, plus so much more..
      That long wire connects the long cord to the intercom system (ICS) so we can speak directly to one another. The brand-new Marine CH-53K "King Stallion" helicopter actually uses wireless ICS 'bricks' which each crew member wears on their vest - no more wires in the back or outside, which is pretty darn cool!
