Annie’s show introduced me to JMC years ago, and I’m so glad!

Beautiful! I loved this conversation. Living that slow life with Jesus...it really is his way.

Hi Annie, I really loved this conversation with John Mark because it's amazing when he talks about Jesus and His Work in us! I also love listening to the Gospels' reading you do every day so thanks for that. Greetings from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

I appreciate what John Mark is trying to teach, but I struggle to relate. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of hours for uninterrupted contemplative thought. My employer and family members expect me to be immediately responsive for 50 or more hours each week. It would be easier to understand his principles if they were framed from the viewpoint of someone who has little to no control over their schedule for the majority of their waking hours.

Hey Brian, he does not get to it in this episode, but one of the keys to life with Jesus is learning to be with him through active life. We transform our time in the shower, mowing the lawn, cooking, cleaning, driving, etc, etc. into a blended life with God and others. We think, we pray, we meditate, and we bring things of God back to our minds throughout the day. I turn my commute into time with God, I turn my lunch break into quiet meditation or reverse that and spend it with co-workers inviting God to bring His kingdom to the table to encounter those I am with. The mother of six children can become more like Christ than a monk who decided to go to a hermitage for 30 years. Life with God is not a one-size-fits-all glove. It is a constant prayer of "Jesus, how would you live if you were me in my time and place, with my responsibilities, life, and job requirements?" Blessings!

I like the input below but I also feel compelled to be honest and say, if you genuinely have "little to no control over the majority of your waking hours" that honestly sounds miserable and you should probably go about seeking ways to change that first and foremost. Hard to be an actual disciple of Christ if you leave Him no energy or time in your life 🤷🏻‍♂️
