Those are great! I've tried 'em before.... but I still resort to my tried and true pine shavings, like from a planer or jointer or you can buy a bale of shavings at Tractor Supply or other hardware store, mixed well with some drainage oil. Take a 5 gallon pickle pail.. put about 3/4 full of shavings... about a cup or so of oil and mix well. Ready for use! Next day they will be even better and won't leave any residue on your hands when handling. Half a handful will start a fire real quick along with some kindling.

Just stop by the farm store and get a bale of Pine Shavings used for pet bedding. Works great for a fire starter. Light enough to light with a lighter but heavy enough to burn long enough to start the main wood.

loved the idea of the fire starters. I hope they are something I can experiment with in the future. We used to have a wood stove but no longer. Just cooking outside they would be beneficial. Great lesson.

Fire starters are always great to have around. I was going to make some for our stove, but decided against it because we have a catalyst in it. Lol I don't want to do anything to mess that thing up.

Yes give it a try! We will have a fire building video out soon using them. I really enjoy the wood stove, but I was about to roast standing right in front of it haha

Seems like a good use for all those candles they have at places like salvation army. Sometimes you can get a big damaged one for 50c

Hello Brook and Colton. I have seen several fire starters made by a lot of Alaskans. They all seem to work well. Anything to get a fast fire going on a cold winter day or night. Love the wood stove!💚
